Homegrown Tomatoes and Racing @ Lanier !!!!

Heat Race - 2nd Place

Feature Race - 3rd Place

It was homegrown tomato night at Lanier Speedway and they were ripe for the picken. Davey started off with some hot laps and the car was fast but just a tick loose. We made some adjustments and went out for the heat race. Davey started from the pole and led several laps before he got in a little hot coming in to turn 3 and nearly lost it. The car was still wicked loose but Davey got up on the wheel and finished 2nd place. The car needed some more adjusting and we worked on it during intermission. He would line up 4th spot outside for the feature race. They dropped the wrag and the race is on. Davey drops in line and is running 4th and makes the pass for 3rd coming off turn 4. After a couple of cautions he was racing for 2nd spot and took it coming down the backstretch. He would relinquish the spot to the eventual winner and cross the line a close 3rd. Davey said," the car was just too tight and wouldn't turn." We had over adjusted the car but Davey drove the wheels off the thing and had a top 3 finish. Way to go Super D !!!!!!

Anderson Motor Speedway !!!!! 2 Rookies Shine !!!!

Heat Race - 4th Place

Feature Race - 2nd Place

Davey loaded up and headed for Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday for some racing action and to watch his friend TJ Reaid run his GAS series Late Model. Wow what a show with the Legends and Late Models. Fisrt off, TJ went out and qualified 2nd quick. Way to go TJ !!! Then it was Davey's turn and he went out for his heat race. He started 2nd spot and raced side by side for 2 laps before finally clearing the leader and pulling to the front. The car was too loose coming through the corners and Super D was really working the wheel to maintain control. He saved the car and salvaged a 4th place finish. This would put him starting 7th for the feature. The green flag waves and the race is on. Davey had worked his way to 1st by lap 4 and was looking good until contact going through turns 1 and 2 sent him up the track and he dropped back to 4th. Once he settled in, he started marching back to the front. With 2 laps to go he was running 3rd. The white flag lap and Davey makes contact with the 2nd place car and overtakes him. Davey wrestles his way through a big melee in turns 3 and 4 and finishes 2nd place at the line. What a wild finish. Way to go Super Davey !!!!

After the Legends race it was GAS racing time.  TJ Reaid has been a qualifying machine and he didn't dissapoint this week either qualifying 2nd quick. They inverted the top 6 cars and TJ started 5th. He had an awesome start and looked to be a contender pacing the leaders through the first half of the race. He was clipped in the left rear and spun midway through and had to go to the rear under caution. Lap after lap he picked off cars and was running 4th place with 5 laps to go. TJ was racing hard for 3rd spot trying the low line and the high line for the pass but ran out of time and finished an awesome 4th place. Way to go TJ on an awesome race. TJ currently Leads the GAS series Rookie of the Year standings and is also in the top 5 in points. Thanks TJ, we had a ball !!!

Thursday Thunder Week #6 and #7 !!!!!!

No Heat Races

Week #6 Feature - 5th Place

Week #7 Feature - 12th Place

Davey headed to Atlanta Motor Speedway Thursday for the make-up race for week 6 and the week 7 Feature races. There would be no heat races this week because of the make -up from week 6. It would be a draw for position and run. Well, it didn't go to well in the draw department as Davey drew back of the pack for both races. That stinks. With the huge disadvantage of starting 17th, he made the most of it and finished 5th place, which was awesome. Way to go Super D !!! The 2nd feature he started 18th and raced his way to 12th without a caution in 20 laps. Not a bad finish coming from the rear. Only 3 weeks remain for the Thursday Thunder series and Super Davey has run awesome for his rookie season. Come on out to See the racing action and Super D as he races weekly at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Lanier Speedway !!!!

Lanier Legends !!!!!

Heat Race - 1st Place

Feature Race - 4th Place

After the all night drive back from Mobile, Alabama, we were dragging our feet getting ready for Lanier on Saturday night. We finally rolled out of the shop around 3:00 PM and headed for Lanier. We rolled the car off the trailer and Super D was fast and looking good. Davey had a good draw and started from the pole. It was a good battle for the top spot as Davey and his friend Austin Hill passed each other lap after lap and crossed the finish line side by side and we didn't even know who won. Great battle guys !! And they never even touched each other, which is saying alot because some of the other guys can't race without hitting somebody. Way to go !! The win would put Davey starting outside in the 2 spot. When the green flag drops, it's on. Davey would work his way to the bottom groove and stated working on the leader. He was under the leader coming down the back stretch going into turn 3 when he was hit from behind and spun. Wow, to the rear he goes but doesn't stay there long. He would work the traffic and the cautions and be running 2nd again with 3 laps to go. Davey was fast and patient as he worked his way up to the leaders bumper and finally made the move for the lead coming down the back stretch headed for the checkered flag. Going into turn 3 there was contact and they were hooked together. Davey would never lift and pushed the other car across the finish line and would finish 4th as they were passed by 2 cars during the fracas. Man that was tough to swallow after working so hard and being so patient coming through the feild. What a Super run Davey !!!

Davey Wins @ Sunny South Speedway In Mobile, Alabama !!!!!!

Heat Race - 1st Place

Feature Race - 1st Place

Friday started out with the normal work related duties and turned into an opportunity to race. Davey's buddy Mason Massey was headed to Mobile to race and asked if Super D would be interested in going. After some thinking and gear changes, we decided to go. Davey had never run the Legend on the Sunny South track before and was excited to say the least. We arrived just in time for practice and unloaded the cars. Both Mason and Davey were fast.  We made several adjustments to Davey's car after practice. The heat race would have Davey starting 4th spot on the outside. Davey wasted little time passing for the lead and never looked back winning the heat race. After the invert and the Pro drivers added, Davey would line up 5th for the start. The green flag flies and the race is on. By lap 2 Davey had worked his way to 3rd and was working on the pro driver for 2nd. He made the pass for 2nd place over all going down the backstretch. After a caution, Davey was leading the Semi-Pro class and running 3rd to the pro's. The Pro drivers didn't cut Davey any slack and he didn't cut them any either as the race was very heated all the way to the finish as Davey won the Semi-Pro race and looked awesome racing the Pro guys. Way to go Super Davey on winning your 1st time at this very fast track. You are awesome !!!!! It was an awesome trip as Mason also won the Bandolero race leading every lap. After the awesome wins by the boys, it was time for the ride home. We traded up the driving duties and ended up arriving home around 7:30 Saturday morning.

Davey would like to thank Mayes and Mason Massey for allowing him to hitch a ride and for a fun trip to the races. Thanks Guys !!!!

Davey Wins @ Lanier On Independence Day !!!!!!
Lanier Victory with Dad
Victory Celebration with Dad

Heat Race - 1st Place

Feature Race - 1st Place

Davey headed off to Lanier for the July 4th Celebration and racing action with 11 hours of sleep under his belt from the night before. He really needed the rest after the long week he had in Louisiana. Being refreshed and ready to go, Davey went out and powered by the competition to win the heat race. Great job !! The finish would have him starting outside 2nd spot for the feature. The green flag dropped and the race was on. After lap one, Davey was running 4th right on the bumper of 3rd. He wheeled his US Marines Legend machine with several daring moves to be in position for the finish. There was a late race caution with 3 laps to go as the leader and the 2nd place car made contact.  Super D weaved his way through the melee and took over the top spot. The green and white flags came out and Davey powered his way to the checkered flag and Victory lane. This is his 2nd Feature Win in less than a month. Awesome, aweswome, awesome !!!!!!

Super D dedicates this WIN to the United States Marines and all the troops - for Independence Day!!! Also special thanks to Susan and Gary Miller with AAR Racing Gear being there for the victory celebration.  AAR has safety and set up gear for all forms of racing.  Check it out at www.aargear.com .

July 3 2008 collage

Heat Race - 6th Place

 Feature Race - 9th Place

After spending the week in Ruston, Louisiana on a mission trip with his church, Davey arrived just in time to strap his helmet on and run his heat race. He finished a respectable 6th place but had no time to prepare for the race. During the 5 day trip,  Davey slept very little "23 hours total" but worked very hard on his first mission trip and played hard too. He was extremely tired but really wanted to race and get any points he could.

Before the feature, AMS held a autograph signing for the fans on the pre July 4th festivities.  Davey always enjoys meeting the fans and signing autographs.

Then it was time for the feature race. Super D had to start in the 9th spot. On the 1st lap there was trouble ahead and Davey picked up a few spots, running 5th. He would run 5th for a good part of the race until the very end where the exhaustion got the best of him and he spun coming to the checkered flag  finishing 9th rolling backward across the line. What a valiant effort put forth by this young man of God. Way to go Super Davey !!! Keep up the good fight !!!!

Lanier Legends !!!!!!

Heat Race - 1st Place

Feature Race - 2nd Place

The summer schedule can be tough at times but Super D really loves racing. Saturday rolled around and Davey was getting ready for his Mission trip to New Orleans with his church and couldn't stop thinking about the race at Lanier. We were actually thinking about missing the race to get ready for the trip. Well, it got the best of all of us and by 3:00 p.m. we were headed up I-85 to Lanier. Davey has been running very well the last several weeks and didn't want to miss an opportunity to race. We arrived at the track around 4:30 and prepare the car for practice. He is one of the fastest cars on the track during practice. SD would line up 2nd spot for the heat race and wasted little time working his way to the lead coming off turn 4. There would be a heated battle for the lead but Davey made the final pass with 2 laps to go for the Win. Way to go Super D !!!! The win would put him starting 2nd spot outside for the feature race. They drop the rag and the race is on. Davey had an awesome start and slid into the 3rd spot on lap 1. By the time lap 2 was over he had made the pass for 2nd spot and was passed back and was running 4th at the line. By this time it was a 4 car breakaway from the field. It was wild as the top 4 cars were passing back and forth for position. Davey made the pass for 2nd coming off turn 4 and looked to be running down the leader but just came up a little short and finished an awesome 2nd place at the line. Way to go Super Davey on a great run !!! Davey will be on his Mission trip to New Orleans doing God's work and will be back Thursday, just in time for week #5 of Thursday Thunder @ Atlanta Motor Speedway !!

Thursday Thunder Week # 4 !!!!!

Heat Race - 6th

Feature Race - 8th

Week 4 of Thursday Thunder didn't start off like Super D hoped for. He was running 3rd in the heat race and was spun out going into turn 3 and finished 6th. The finish would put him starting 12th for the feature. When the feature finally rolled around, the race was on. Davey made his way up to 5th place with 3 laps to go and looked good until contact with another car pushed him up and he slid to 8th at the finish. Way to go Super D !!!!!

Lanier Legends !!!!!

Heat Race - 1st Place

Feature Race - 3rd Place

Super Davey headed to Lanier Speedway, Saturday with the Chick-fil-a, A&W Contracting, Tin Roof Cafe, US Marines Legend Car ready for action. The heat race was atough feild of cars and Davey got up on the wheel and drove to an impressive win leading every lap. Way to go Super D !!!!

The win would put Davey starting 2nd spot outside for the Feature Race. The green flag flies and the race is on. Davey has to be patient and finally works his way down around 5th spot to begin his march to the front. After several passes and a couple of cautions he is setting in 3rd spot. During one of the cautions 2 cars are arguing over position and wreck each other under caution and end up running over the right side of Davey's car and knocking the toe out with 3 laps to go. He really has to fight hard the final 3 laps to keep the car going straight. Davey does a heck of a job and finishes 3rd. Way to go Super D !!!!!

Thursday, June 19
Thursday Thunder !!!!!

Heat Race - 1st Place

Feature Race - 7th Place

Week 3 of Thursday Thunder rolled around and Super D had his Chick-fil-a, A&W Contracting, Tin Roof Cafe, US Marines Legend car tuned up and ready to go. Davey would start 3rd in the heat race and wasted little time once the green flag flew. He would take the lead coming off turn 4  and never look back as he won the heat race for the 2nd week in a row. Way to go Super D !!!!!

The heat race finish would have put Davey starting 2nd spot outside but after the inversion of the top 6 cars, he would line up 5th for the start. The green flag flies and the race is on. Davey would run single file the 1st several laps before making his move for the 2nd position on lap 12. He set his sights on the leader and ran him down with 2 laps to go and could have settled for 2nd but went for the win and tried to make the move through 3 and 4. Coming off turn 4 there was contact and Super D would spin and still finish 7th at the line. WOW, way to go Super Davey !!  Not bad for a Rookie !!!!

The Chick-fil-a, A&W Contracting, Tin Roof Cafe, US Marines Legend Car and Super Davey Matthews have been on a tear lately.  Having won last weekend @ Watermelon, Davey backed it up with a 2nd place finish @ Atlanta on Thursday Night. It was a tough field of cars but the Rookie legend car driver did an awesome job. SD started the day off by winning the heat race by leading flag to flag for the win. After the heat race, Davey said don't touch the car, it's good ! He was right as he ran up front the whole race and looked to have a shot at the win passing for 2nd with 2 laps to go. What a race !  Way to go Super Davey !!!!!! See You @ Lanier on Saturday !!!!

Davey & Damon celebrate
Damon helps celebrate with Win with Davey!

Heat Race - 2nd Place

Feature Race - 1st Place Semi Pro ( 1st Semi-Pro Win )

12 year old Legends driver Davey Matthews always goes to the track to have fun and win. But this night something was different. He came to Watermelon to see his good friend and mentor TJ Reaid run his GAS Series Late Model and get in a race himself. The pressure was off Super D as he got to relax and take a week off chasing points at Lanier and just have some fun and race. Davey enjoyed watching TJ practice and then qualified an awesome 4th in a tough field of cars. Way to go TJ.

After watching TJ practice and qualify, it was Davey's turn for practice. We made a few adjustments on the car after practice and prepped it for the heat race. He would start last in the heat race. The green flag flies and so does Davey making his way through the field to finish an awesome 2nd place. After they inverted the rop 6, it was time for the feature. Davey would start 3rd on the field. The green flag flies and the feature race is under way. Super D made the move for the lead coming off turn 2 heading down the back stretch and had the lead before the completion of lap 1. He would lead a race high 12 laps before being challenged by a Pro driver on lap 13. They raced side by side for several laps and passed each other back and forth coming to the checkered flag. It was an awesome race as Super D finished right on the Pro Drivers bumper and won the Semi-Pro Division as the 2 classes were run together. This was Davey's 1st Feature Win of the new season in Semi-Pro. Awesome job for the 12 year old driver. Way to go Super D !!!!

A special thanks to everyone who has made this happen. Especially TJ and Hava-Tampa-Tony Reaid for being great friends and Mentors to Davey and dad. Thank You Guys !!!!

After the Victory Lane celabration, it was time for TJ to run his race. He qualified 4th quick and was ready to go. He ran in the top 5 for a good part of the race and looked as fast as anybody on the track. TJ got shuffled back on a restart and had to make his way back up through the field and finished an awesome 9th at the finish of the 100 lap event. Way to go TJ !!!!

Heat Race - 6th Place

Feature Race - 6th Place out of 21 cars

Super Davey was ready for his Legend car Rookie debut in the opening round of Thursday Thunder. The Chick-fil-A, A&W Contracting, Tin Roof Cafe, US Marines Legends Car was tuned up and ready for action too. The festivities began with the heat race and Davey starting 4th spot outside row. The green flag flies and the race is on. The inside row lines up and freight trains Davey to around 8th before he can get an opening to get to the inside. He fights hard and passes his way back to 6th at the finish. Way to go SD !!

After having a delicous Chick-fil-A party platter with his sponsors and crew, Davey headed to the Start Finish line to meet the fans. It was a huge crowd on hand for the 1st of 10 races for Thursday Thunder. Super D signed autographs and posed for many photos. It was a good time. Thanks to all the fans who came out and to Chick-fil-A for teaming up with Super Davey for the 10 weeks of Thursday Thunder.

Driver intros followed the meet and greet and then it was time to race. Davey would be starting in the 12th spot outside. The green flag flies and the feature race is under way. He works his way to 11th by turn 3 and set sail for the front. The caution flag would fly and Davey was sitting in 11th spot. Back to green and marching toward the front. SD would run high and then low passing car after car making his way to the 6th spot at the finish. What an awesome start to Thursday Thunder for the rookie driver. Way To Go Super D !!!!

Lanier Speedway !!!

Heat Race - 3rd Place

Feature Race - 8th Place

Davey headed up to Lanier for another week of racing action and excitement. After arriving at the track,we readied the car for practice. Davey said the car was loose and we adjusted it for the heat race. Starting in the 4th spot, Davey wasted little time racing to the front and was on the leaders bumper by lap 2. Trying to make the pass for the lead, contact was made and some smoke went up but everyone continued and Davey would finish a strong 3rd place. After making some minor adjustments, it was time for the feature race. Davey would start 3rd on the field. The green flag flies and the race is on. He would make the pass for 2nd spot coming off turn 4 chasing the leader. The caution flag flies and they line 'em up again for a restart. Same thing as Davey and the leader check out on the field running identical lap times. After several laps and Super D's car getting faster another caution comes out. Davey pulls to the outside of the leader for the restart. On the green flag, the car takes off and then nothing as it coasts around without power. The throttle cable had snapped in 2 right at the gas pedal. Davey had a super fast car and it was going to be a great race for the win, but it was not to be on this night and Super D would finish 8th spot. Tough way to end what started out as a great night. Way to go Super D, it's coming!!!!!!

****** Salute to the Troops ******

What a wild weekend it turned out to be @ Lanier National Speedway. Davey would like to thank Devo for all his help this weekend. Devo was down for the races and gave Davey some driving tips and helped Dad with some chassis tips also. Thanks Devo !!!!  Super Davey qualified 2nd fastest out of 24 cars and looked super running 2nd place in the Dash for Cash race also. The feature started out good with Davey running around 4th spot until he was spun on lap 7 and went to the rear. He didn't stay there long and had worked his way back up to 7th with just a handfull of laps left. The last few laps were crazy as one car was oiling the track down and cars were all over the place and Davey made several daring moves and finished 3rd place. Way to Go SD !!!! After the races we were treated to the MONSTER Truck Show and a Jet Truck burning up some cars.

Sunday rolled around and it was back to the track for some more. Davey would get held up in the heat race by another car that must have been having brake problems and was relegated to a 6th place finish. After the trackside party for the fans was over it was time to race. Starting in the 14th spot for the feature, Davey would have his work cut out for him. The green flag flies and the race is on. Davey had worked his way up to around 7th and was just as fast as anybody on the track.  He would slip up with about 4 to go and ended up finishing 8th place. Not the finish he was looking for, but another solid top ten finish to go with the 3rd place from the night before was awesome. Way to go Super D on a great weekend and thanks again to Devo for all your help.

Heat Race - 3rd Place

Feature Race - 7th Place

Davey headed for Lanier National Speedway with his A&W Contracting, US Marines, Tin Roof Cafe Legend Car ready for action. After some practice and a few adjustments, it was off to the heat race. Davey would start 3rd and ended up finishing 3rd at the line. This finish put him starting 6th for the feature race. The green flag flies and the race is on. The car was just a little off from where it needed to be and Davey brought the ill handling peice home in 7th position. Not the finish he was looking for, but a solid run. Davey will be back @ Lanier for a 2 day show with Monster Trucks this weeekend. Go Davey Go !!!

Monday, May 12
Racing @ Lanier Speedway !!

Heat Race - 3rd Place

Feature Race - 15th Place

After racing @ Anderson on Friday night, Davey took his A&W Contracting, Tin Roof Cafe Legend to Lanier Speedway. He was super fast in practice and it carried over to the heat race. As luck would have it, Davey drew a terrible number for the race and started near the rear. He wasted little time making his way to the front and ended up 3rd place at the finish.

Afetr some minor adjustments on the car we were ready for the feature race. Davey would start 6th spot on the outside. The green flag flies and side by side they go off into turn one. Davey comes out running 3rd spot. After several laps he gets passed for 3rd and is running 4th. He is running 4th with 5 laps to go when he hets challenged by another compettitor. Instead of racing Davey for the spot, the genius spins him out. The funny thing is the officials sent the other car to the rear for his foolish actions. The not so funny thing is the bonehead does it again with 2 laps to go and ruined what started out as a good run for Super D !!!!!

Sunday, May 11
Friday @ Anderson Motor Speedway !!

Heat Race - 2nd Place

Feature Race - 9th Place

Davey raced at Anderson Motor Speedway Friday and was in the hunt. The practice started with many adjustments and Davey giving super feedback from the drivers seat. After the final practice we readied the car for the race. He would start 2nd on the outside for the heat race. The race was pretty uneventful and Davey ran in 2nd spot all the way to the checkered flag. Way to go SD !

The heat race finish put Davey starting 4th spot for the feature. He ran with the lead pack in 3rd position most of the race until the car started to fade and he fell to 4th. Davey was running 4th going into turn 3 and was spun by another compettitor on the white flag lap while racing hard and ended up 9th at the line. One of them racin' deals. Way to go Super D !!!!

Friday, May 2
Davey Wins Heat Race and Leads 9 Laps Of Feature Race @ Andeson !!!!

Heat Race - 1st Place

Feature Race - 13th Place

Davey raced on up to Anderson Friday night and had a super fast car. We knew in practice that he was fast and waited for the heat race to show our hand. He would start on the outside in 2nd position and drove hard when the green flag flew. On the 1st lap, Davey made the pass for the lead coming off turn 4 and never looked back leading every lap for the :) "WIN" !!! Way to go Super D !!!

For the Feature Race, Davey would start on the outside 2nd spot again. This time it would take 2 and 3 wide racing for the 1st couple of laps. Davey was on the outside and raced clean and ended up with the lead by lap 3 coming off turn 2 headed down the back stretch. He led up until lap 10 when a caution came out for a spin on the front stretch. On the restart they where bumper to bumper headed for turn one. Going into turn 3, contact from the 2nd place car spun him out and he was hit by another car putting him out of the race. Very dissapointing as Super D could have easily finished top 2 or even won the thing. Oh well, we'll get'um next week. Awesome job Super Davey !!!!

Lanier Racing !!!!

Heat Race - 4th

Feature Race - 7th

Coming off his 3rd place finish Friday at Anderson, Davey was ready to tackle Lanier with his A&W Contracting, US Marines, Tin Roof Cafe Legend. He continued his season of good runs @ Lanier Speedway with another top 10 finish coming home 7th place. He ran with the lead pack all night and looked to be as fast as anybody on the track. The finish doesn't reflect how well Davey ran. He was super fast running some of his fastest laps of the year at Lanier Saturday night and hopes to build on it next week as he returns for more action. Awesome Job Super Davey !!!!!

Davey will be Racing his A&W Contracting, US Marines, Tin Roof Cafe Legend this week @ Anderson on Friday and then Lanier on Saturday. So come on out to see Super Davey as he races his way to the front !!

Heat Race - 6th Place

Feature Race - 3rd Place

Davey headed to Anderson Motor Speedway Friday night and had a super run coming home 3rd place in the feature race. During the heat race the car was handling terrible. We had to make some major changes for Super D. Judging from the way Davey drove the car, I think they helped. He started 13th for the feature and drove his way to a very impressive 3rd place finish in the Semi-Pro division. Davey will be @ Lanier Speedway on Saturday Night Racing.

Heat Race - 11th

Feature Race - 9th

Saturday brought clear skies and racing action back to Lanier Speedway for the 1st time in 3 weeks. The heat race had Davey starting in the back and on the start he passed 5 cars and was running 3rd. He was making the pass for 2nd when the other car turned into him going thru turns 1 and 2. It tore the right front tire almost completely off. Davey hitched a ride with the wrecker truck and we went to work on the car.

We finally had the car back together just in time for the feature race. Davey would start around 20th for the feature race. The green flag flies and the race is on. The car was not right but Davey made the best of it and finished 9th at the line. Tough luck as Davey had a super fast car until the wreck and was looking for more. We'll be back next week!!!!

Davey had an awesome time Friday @ Anderson. He got knocked around in the heat race and came back to finish 6th. This put him starting 13th out of 21 cars for the feature. The car was fast and so was Davey as he came through the field making his way to the front. Davey was side by side with the 5th place car coming across the line and ended up 6th place Pro and 3rd place in the Semi-Pro. Way to go Super D. See you @ Lanier on Saturday Night.

Double Race Weekend !!!

Atlanta

Heat Race- 3rd Place

Feature Race- 6th Place

Watermelon

Heat Race- 8th Place

Feature Race- 3rd Place Semi-Pro

Super Davey geared up for the weekend to run 2 races at Atlanta and Lanier. Atlanta started off with a few problems in the heat race as we were having some kind of electrical issue with the fuel pump and transponder. Davey came home 3rd place but said the car was missing the last 3 laps. We lookked the car over and thought we found the problem and sent him out for the Feature race. Starting 5th spot, he wasted little time showing he was there to race and climbed to 4th spot on lap 2. It was a 4 car breakaway and Davey was running 4th and looking for more. With 3 laps to go a caution came out and bunched the field up and coming to the green flag, Davey was hit from behind and knocked out of the way and hit by another car. This knocked Davey to about 10th spot but he was determined to get back and passed 4 cars in 3 laps and ended up 6th at the finish. Way to go Super Davey !! You got it now bud !!!

Saturday rolled around and we were in the shop getting ready for Lanier and found out that they had cancelled the race because of weather. I don't know what weather but we had an itching to race. So we loaded up and went to Watermelon Capitol Speedway to race.

It's really a good thing we went because the electrical issue reared it's head again in the heat race and we were scrambling trying to find the problem. We thought we had fixed it Friday in Atlanta but come to find out, we hadn't. Trying to find a short is not easy to do as we were tracing wires all over the car and seemed to find nothing. It was time for the feature and we decided to give it a try and see what happens. Well Davey started near the back and had made it up to 9th place after 3 laps and was looking good. Then all of a sudden it looked like it stopped. The caution came out for a wreck in turn 3 and we were able to get Davey back out to try again. It was to no avail as the car kept shutting down and he was relegated to a 13th place finish overall and 3rd place semi-pro finish.

We finally found the shorted wire after the race.

Racing @ Anderson, South Carolina !!!

Heat Race - 4th Place

Feature Race - 5th Place

Davey made his 1st trip to Anderson Motor Speedway this weekend and had fun driving this new track and seeing some old friends from the Quarter Midget days. A big hello to the Northcutts from Easley, South Carolina. It was good to see a familiar face or 2. The track was something different than we have seen and it took a little for the crew chief to figure it out. The 1st practice was pretty good and Davey had lots to say about the old worn out surface. We made wholesale changes to the car and it was hard to put our finger on what it really needed. He headed out for the heat race and had a pretty good showing coming home 4th place. We decided to try something for the feature race since it was our 1st time here. It didn't work but we learned what not to do and hopefully it will help next time. We really put Davey at a huge disadvantage, but he climbed up on the wheel and got all he could with the severely ill handling car and finished 5th place Semi-pro. Davey almost smacked the fence at one point when the car he was behind blew up and dropped oil all over the track, but maintained control and brought the car home in one piece and with a respectable finish. Way to go SD !!!

We headed for Lanier Speedway, Saturday morning only to see the Quarter Midgets qualifying and then watch it rain. After raining most of the morning the officials @ Lanier canceled the race for the night.  Davey will be back in action next week !!! Go Davey Go !!!!

Sunday, March 23
Easter Racing @ Lanier Speedway !!!!!

Heat Race - 7th Place

Feature Race - 4th Place

After having all week to work on our electrical problem, it was back to the track Saturday. Davey continues to draw terrible numbers for starting position, but that's how it goes. He would start outside near the back in the heat race. We knew there was going to be trouble as one of the compettitors was blocking on the 1st lap. The same guy eventually spun Davey with 3 laps to go as he was trying to pass him. As luck would have it the same driver wrecked out of the feature race. Funny how that works.

The heat race finish put Davey starting 13th for the Feature. He didn't stay there very long as he would pass 9 cars on his way to the finish. We were very pleased with the 4th place finish. Davey continues to figure the car out more every week and his results show it. He is looking for that 1st Feature Win and it will come as he continues to run top 5's every week.  Davey will be back @ Lanier this week for round 3.

Sunday, March 16
2008 Season Kick-Off @ Lanier Speedway !!!!!

Heat Race- 4th Place

Feature Race- 23rd Place

Super D headed to Lanier National for the season opener and was super fast. He started 12th in the heat race and wasted little time working the traffic headed for the front. The race was only 10 laps so Davey didn't have much time. He passed 8 cars on his way to a 4th place finish. Awesome job SD !

After we made a few adjustments to the car it was on to the feature. Davey would start 7th on the inside. The green flag drops and going into turn one there is a huge pile-up. They would run almost 12 laps under caution. The car started sputtering after the 12th caution lap and finally died in turn 3. Davey was trying frantically to restart the car to no avail. He was pushed down into the infeild and we couldn't get to him to try to fix the problem. It was hard to watch as Davey had to sit there not able to race. Even more frustrating because he had a fast enough car to contend for the win. Oh well that's racing sometimes. We'll be back next week @ Lanier to try again.

Monday, March 10
Thunder Ring on Nascar Weekend !!!!!!!
AMS race ready 08

Feature Race- 6th Place

Georgia Winter Series Points -8th Place Semi-Pro (Missed 5 Races)

Super Davey ran his 1st Semi-Pro race @ Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend in conjunction with the Nascar show that was in town for the Kobalt Tools 500 . The temperatures were freezing cold Saturday morning and it was snowing as we headed to the track. Once we arrived and parked, we watched Sprint Cup Happy Hour and the Nationwide race. Davey was ready to go as they called the drivers to they're cars. There would be no practice or hot laps. Just line up and go racing. The green flag drops and the race is on. After several side by side battles, Super D was running in 6th place and made a late charge to catch the top 5 coming to the checkered flag. Davey ran the 2nd fastest lap out of all the drivers in the field.  What an awesome job as Davey collected a top 6 finish in his 1st Semi-Pro race on the Thunder Ring. This finish put Davey in 8th Place for the Georgia Winter Series Points and he missed 5 races. Just think what could have been if he hadn't missed those races. We were all very anxious to see Davey run at this level as he has progressed through the ranks faster than anyone.

With the new points season starting this Friday, Super Davey is ready to go!!! He will be racing Friday night and then on Sunday he will be @ Lanier National for the season opener. See You @ The Races !!! Go Davey Go !!!

AMS On the Track NASCAR Weekend 08

Sunday, March 2
Racing @ Watermelon Capital Speedway !!!!
Cordele 08 2nd place

Heat Race- 3rd Place

Feature Race - 2nd  Place

Super Davey headed to the Watermelon this weekend for the Georgia Winter Series race. He practiced the car Saturday afternoon and looked to be pretty fast. We made some adjustments for the second practice and the car was even better. Davey would start 6th for the Heat Race. When the green flag dropped, he had an awesome start and headed for the front. Davey was side by side with the 17 car coming to the checkered flag and ended up 3rd at the line. Great race SD!!

The heat race finish would put Davey starting 3rd in the feature but track officials decided to run all the Legend cars together with the Pros and Semi-Pros. This put Davey starting 9th spot. The green flag dropped and again he had an awesome start passing several cars but the caution came out and they lined 'em up again. The green flies for the 2nd time and the race is on as Super Davey settles in and works his way through traffic headed for the front. After several cautions, Davey and his 41 machine are riding in 2nd spot and looking for more. The last restart looked promising and Davey was up on the wheel getting all he could but it wasn't meant to be as the handling on the car started to go away and he was sliding the rear end off the corner just trying to keep his position. Davey looked awesome coming to the line with two pro drivers on his bumper as he finished an awesome 2nd Place. Way to go Super Davey !!!

See Davey Race his United States Marine Corp. Legend Car @ Atlanta Motor Speedway This weekend after The Nationwide Series Race !!!!!!

Saturday, February 9
Winter Racing @ Lanier National Speedway !!!!

Heat Race - 4th Place

Feature Race - 6th Place

Super Davey headed off to race @ Lanier National Speedway this Saturday with 2 things in mind. First off he wanted to have a good run and he did that, running with the leaders and finishing just out of the top 5. The 2nd thing he wanted was to get some info on some things we were trying to do with the car, mission accomplished.

The day started off with 3 very good rounds of practice and we decided to leave the car alone and just see what it would do under race conditions. During the heat race, Davey ran some fast times and looked good finishing a strong 4th place. The finish put Davey starting 8th for the feature. On the start he got knocked around and run over by another car that was out of control. Davey gathered it back up after being passed by several cars and started making his way to the front. He passed several cars making his way to 6th and had a very good battle for 5th position over the last handful of laps. Davey and crew learned what they set out to during the race and hopefully will be able to apply it the next race @ Lanier. Way to go Super D on a Super Run!!!!!

Saturday, January 26
Georgia Winter Series @ Watermelon !!!!!

Heat Race - 4th Place  Semi-Pro

Feature Race - 2nd Place Semi Pro

Davey headed off for a race @ Cordele on Saturday only to watch it rain most of the day. The rain finally moved out around 3 o'clock and the cars started drying the track. By 5 o'clock the track was ready for practice and then for some racing. Davey lined up 5th on the start and looked very impressive running with the lead pack and finishing 4th spot. Way to go SD !!

The decision was made to run the Pro and Semi-Pro together for the feature. This had Davey starting 13th on the grid. When the green flag dropped, he wasted little time working his way to the front. After several confusing cautions Super D was running 3rd place among the Semi-Pro's and looking very capable of a great finish. The final restart was kind of wild as the cars were all over each other and Davey dove to the inside for 2nd place with 3 laps to go and had to fight hard to keep the spot coming to the checkered flag. What an awesome finish for Super D! He said,"The car was loose but I just hung in there and stayed out of trouble so I would be able to race hard at the finish. I really wanted the win but with the Pro drivers racing each other too, they were really in my way at the end."  Way to Go Super Davey !!!!!!

Honors at Atlanta Motor Speedway
thursday thunder banquet 07

Atlanta Motor Speedway held their 10th Anniversary Thursday Thunder Banquet on Saturday, January 5th for the 2007 summer series.  Super Davey was honored for his close finish in the Zaxby's Bandits Bandolero division finishing up the 10 race Series with 4 Victories in his rookie year. This earned him 4th place in the standings seperating the top 4 by only 5 points (less than 2 positions).  It was a hard fought points race all summer long for SD in his rookie season at Thursday Thunder in the Bandolero division.

Davey was also presented with the Hard Charger Award, determined by how many positions gained from your starting spot to your finishing spot in each race.  He gained a tremendous 34 positions during the 10 race series.  Way to go Super D!  Congratulations!

Davey Races "The Ice Cold Shriners Bowl" @ Lanier Speedway !!!!!
Legend race talk
Davey explains what happened on the track as "The Man" looks on...

Saturday

Heat Race- 7th Place

Feature Race- 13th Place

Sunday

Feature - 8th Place

Davey got his first racing action of the new year heading to Lanier National Speedway for the Ice Cold Shriners Bowl. Saturday started off well in the heat race as Davey was on the leaders bumper for the first few laps until getting bumped from behind on lap 3 , spun up and got collected by several other cars. He continued the race after coming in the pits for a little body work. It wasn't all bad as Davey got some valuable "on track" experience and finished 7th. In the Feature, he lined up 13th and raced a lively battle during the 20 lap event and came home right where he started in 13th. Not bad for a patched up car.

We loaded up Saturday night and headed for the shop to check out the car. It had some pretty good damage, but we decided to fix it because Super D wanted to race on Sunday. With limited time, we got the car where he could race and finished up around 1 in the morning.

Sunday morning rolled around and after a stop by Church, we were off to the track for some more exciting racing action. Davey would line up the same way he finished the heat race Saturday which was 13th. When the green flag flew he dropped the hammer. Davey made several daring passes on the start and continued to work his way to the front as the race progressed. He looked super and in form passing several more cars coming toward the finish and ended up 8th place at the line. What a great job for the rookie driver. Davey said," The car wasn't as good today as the heat race yesterday but it sure was fun making my way through the field." Way to go Super D !!!!!
