Welcome To The Phoenix Website
The Phoenix is a premier U-13 travel soccer team for girls born after August 1, 1994 sponsored by Chantilly Youth Association Soccer and coached by Cristian Linte a Romanian Soccer Professional and Assistant Coach Mike Mirda in Chantilly. The Phoenix team is made up of exceptional young players who train and play at a very competitive level. We play Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS) which is comprised of advanced teams from Northern Virginia.

Coaching Philosophy-
Emphasizes Player and Team Development over winning at all costs. By focusing on teamwork and
sportsmanship, the girls will take away skills that will allow them to be successful throughout their lives whether in school, at home, or at work. The team atmosphere will promote a sense of family amongst the
players. We emphasize that the success of the team is based on a cooperative effort between all players. If we work together and try our best, we will be successful. At this age, the correlation between winning and the development of a soccer player is often very low. The entire emphasis of play will be on learning and the development of skills. If this is done properly, players will be more technically skilled, more tactically sophisticated, and better prepared for the stresses of high-level competition. Winning will take care of itself.

This close-knit team trains and plays hard, but has fun on and off the field.  We teach possession style of play, concentrating on strong technical and tactical skills development. We also supplement our program with speed and agility training from Hakim Alston's Triple Impact Program (www.tifitness.com) to enhance our players' athletic performance and minimize soccer related injuries.

Our team logo, the phoenix bird, symbolizes immortality,  resurrection and life after death.
In ancient Greek and Egyptian mythology, it is associated with the sun god. According to
the Greeks, the bird lives in Arabia, near a cool well. Every morning at dawn, the sun god
would stop his chariot to listen to the bird sing a beautiful song while it
bathed in the
well. Only one phoenix exists at a time. It can destroy itself and re-create itself at will by
diving into an open fire. The bird is then consumed by the flames, until within moments, a
new phoenix will spring forth from the fire. In the United States, the bird is depicted as
an eagle.  Come out and watch us SOAR!

"Success in competition often is viewed as winning, but it can also be evaluated in terms of enjoyment, self-improvement, satisfaction, or self-confidence that players derive from the experience. Thus, while winning certainly is more exhilarating than losing, the players (as well as the coach) may find other rewards in competition."
by Walt Chyzowych former US National Team Coach, National Team Member, and Olympic Coach.
