Red Devils Look Sharp in Philly
On a cold dreary Saturday in April, the Red Devils travelled down to Philly for the MAPS/ MSSL College Showcase. In front of many college scouts the Reds came away with a tie and a win. In the first game against the LMVSC Patriots out of Virginia, the Reds fell behind early on a wind aided goal by the Patriots. The Reds were able to tie the game before the half. The second half was scoreless but the
Red Devils were clearly the stronger side according to most sidleine observers.
As the snow began to fall the Reds took the field against the Laurel Comets, the #5 ranked team in Maryland. In probably their most dominating performance this season, the Reds completely shut down the Comets, coming away with a 1-0 win. The game was not nearly as close as the score. It was a very impressive performance for the Red Devils. Next Sunday the girls travel down to TCNJ for their Showcase Tournament.

Red Devils Win Beach FC Classic
 |
|
The CWS Red Devils travelled down to Virginia Beach this weekend for the Beach FC Classic. The Red Devils opened up with the New England Eagles, the #8 ranked team in Massachusetts. The Red came out with a 3-1 victory in a very competitive game. After a 5 hour break the Reds faced Northeast United out of Conneticut. The long layover seemed to hurt the Reds who looked very sluggish. The game was not attractive at all but the Reds were able to come out with a 0-0 tie. That evening the girls and their families had a great time taking in all of the Virginia Beach attractions. With the sightseeing over, Sunday morning was back to business. The Reds opened up with the #2 ranked team in New Hampshire, Granite FC. The Reds came out with probably their best effort of the tournament while winning 1-0. Their last opponent was the host team, Beach FC who are ranked #8 in Virginia. The Reds needed a win or a tie to take the tournement. Although Beach FC hadn't yet won a game, they were clearly the most talented team the Red Devils would face. Battling a very stiff wind and an excellent possesion game by the Piranhas, the Red Devils went into the half down 1-0. In the second half the Reds moved an extra striker up top to try and generate some offense. It seemed to help as the Reds clearly had the better of play and were able to strike for the tying and go ahead goals. In the last 5 minutes the Piranhas upped the pressure and were able to tie the score. The game ended 2-2 which was a very fair result. Over the weekend the Red Devils faced 3 teams who were ranked higher than them and where able to come away undefeated. All in all it was a great way to start the season. The Red Devils have 2 JAGS games next weekend and travel to Philly for the MAPS College Showcase Tournament on April 8. Congratulation girls on a great win!

Somewhere behind the athlete you've become & the hours of practice, & the coaches who pushed you, & the teammates who believed in you, & the fans who cheered you, Is the little girl who fell in love with the game Play for her!
