Tornadoes End 2007-2008 Season with 17-9 Record
2007-2008 Baseball Banquet The 2007-2008 Clearwater High School baseball team concluded the season with its annual banquet on Sunday, May 18, 2008. The banquet, held at Carrabba’s Italian Grill, included nearly 100 players, coaches, family members and school representatives. Principal, Keith Mastorides, said it was a fun year and had the senior class stand, encouraging the team to follow their example. Head baseball coach David Vince presented letters to varsity members, certificates to all-county and all-star representatives, and year-end awards. The banquet concluded with a slide presentation of the 2007-2008 season. Awards for this year include: Rookie of the Year-Andrew McCormick Most Improved Player-Brett Gourlay Tornado Award-Tyler Griffith “Roger Tremblay” Coaches Award-Daniel Rivera Offensive Player of the Year-Craig Goodman Defensive Player of the Year-Jonathan Williamson “Ricky Teal” Pitching Award-Tim Younger Most Valuable Player Award-Craig Goodman and Tim Younger Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) District 14 “Player of the Year”-Tim Younger Monday, May 19 Five Tornadoes to Represent as Pinellas All-Stars May 21st
Five seniors of the Clearwater High School baseball team will play in the 2008 Pinellas County All-star Game to be held Wednesday, May 21 at 7:00pm at Jack Russell Stadium. Players include: Stephen Booth, Craig Goodman, Daniel Rivera, Steve Vick, and Jonathan Williamson. Go CT!
Monday, May 19 Goodman, Vick and Younger to Play at Tropicana June 1st
Coach David Vince announced that seniors Craig Goodman, Steven Vick and Tim Younger will play at Tropicana Field for the Pinellas vs Hillsborough All-star game on Sunday, June 1st immediately following The Rays game. Admission is free but fans are encouraged to attend the Rays game and stay for the second game. Go CT! Monday, May 19 Younger Selected FACA Player of the Year
Clearwater High School’s Tim Younger was recently selected by the District 14 Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) coaches as “Player of the Year.” This honor makes him eligible to be considered for the Florida State Player of the Year award, sponsored by the FL Dairy Farmers, Inc. Additionally, Younger will be playing in the Florida All-star State games to be held May 22-24 in Sebring, Florida on the West Team along with two other District 14 players, Jacob Rogers of Dunedin High School and Sam Mende of Clearwater Central Catholic High School. Younger finished the regular season with a .473 batting average (74 AB), a 1.06 ERA (52.66 IP), and broke the career wins pitching record at Clearwater High with 20 wins. Younger will be playing college baseball at St. Petersburg College in 2009. Congrats Tim! |
