This week the Maple Grove City Council gave the go-ahead for work on the new high school locker rooms to begin. The target date to begin digging is August 1st. More details to come at the July 29th parent meeting. Plenty of sponsorship opportunities still available.

Mandatory Parents Meeting-
There will be a mandatory parents meeting for all returning players all incoming sophomores interested in playing high school hockey this year. The meeting will be held at 7:00 PM on July 29th at the Maple Grove Community Center. Both parents are encouraged to attend. If for some reason your player can not be represented that night, please email Gary Stefano at StefanoG@District279.org prior to the meeting.

New Locker Room
The New Locker Room project is being funded by the MGSH Boys and Girls Hockey Booster Clubs, we are also working with a professional fundraising group to raise the money to fund the project. A committee from both the boys and girls program was formed last year (Gary Stefano, John Rebhorn, Jim Holland, Chris Dopp and Todd Elmer), over the last month they have recruited parents from the boys and girls program to participate on the committee. Bringing the total number of people on the committee to about 20, with that said we have divided the committee into 3 separate areas to concentrate on - Fundraising, Rebidding and Golf Tournament.

At this time the goal completion date for the New Locker Rooms is scheduled for November 1, 2008
Rebidding - the first bids came in and they were way over the original estimate. The rebidding committee will be working on obtaining new bids for the project in the next couple of weeks.
Fundraising - fundraising from the professional fundraising group hasn't gone as well as expected and part of the problem with this was that it hasn't been clearly defined what we are selling. With the help of this committee, directions and initiatives have been put into place. To date we have $150,000 secured line of credit from Premiere Banks and $50,000 in secured donations from individuals and businesses. More to come over the next couple of weeks on this.

A Good Friend on the 'DL'
John Rogers, long time announcer and true friend of Maple Grove Hockey has recently undergone cancer surgery on his jaw. The next step will be spending a great deal of time down in Rochester at Mayo Clinic getting the best treatment in the country.

Lot's of work to do over the summer on the Locker Room as well as 'teeing' up the 2008 - 2009 season. We're counting on everyone to do their part by pitching in. Keep your eye on this spot for developments.

BOWLING FOR BACKCHECKERS- 
December 19th at Spectrum Lanes was the scene of some of the worst bowling ever witnessed. Thank heaven these boys have hockey to fall back on to fill their time this winter.
Actually, the boys had a great time and raised some money in the process. THANK YOU to everyone that pledged a player !

Another Crimson Hockey Golf Tournament is in the books!
It was a great (dry) fall day, many of the sponsorships were up, and A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL. Thank you to everyone that contibuted, to those that pitched in, and especially to the people that played leadership roles in this fun event. On behalf of the boys, Thank You.
