Welcome to the Clarkston Chiefs Home Page. Since 1970, the Clarkston Chiefs have supported the Clarkston Area and its children with experiences that last a lifetime. The Clarkston Chiefs, a franchise of the Northern Youth Football League (www.nyfl.net), is a group of nearly 800 athletes, parents and volunteers who participate in the promotion of youth tackle football, cheerleading and pom pon. In 2006, the Clarkston Chief's Football put four team in the playoffs and 3 teams in the Super Bowl. In 2007, the Clarkston Chief's Football put 5 teams in the playoffs and two in the Super Bowl. Our Cheer and Pom teams keep winning awards. But, our success has not been based on wins and losses. Our success has been based on the continuous growth of athletes playing tackle football, cheer and pom and the number of returning families. In 2007, all football teams were at capacity. For 2008, the Clarkston Chiefs will add a Gold Squad at the Freshman and Junior Varsity level. This will allow more kids to participate and increase playing time.
For the latest information about the Clarkston Chiefs, check out "Chief's News". It will be updated as information becomes available.
Sunday, August 17 Week 1 - Road Warriors The 2008 Season will begin Saturday and Sunday as the Blue, White, and Gold squads, as well as Varsity will start on the Road. To start the weekend of travel, the Gold Freshman will play its first game ever against the Waterford Corsairs Blue Freshman. The Waterford Blue experienced the toughest season as they finished 2007 with a 0-8 record. They are sure to be eager to keep the Freshman Gold and Head Coach Dan Russell from its first victory. Kickoff is scheduled for 11am at Pierce Middle School (Saturday). The Junior Varsity Gold will also kick off its inaugural game against the Waterford Corsairs JV Blue. The Waterford JV Blue did not have as tough a season as the Corsair Freshman Blue as they recorded a 1-7 season. Clarkston JV Gold Head Coach Tim Adams will be looking for his teams first victory. Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm at Pierce Middle School (Saturday). After having a bite to eat, it is time to get on M-15 and visit Brandon as the playoff experienced Freshman Blue will take on the Jr. Blackhawk Freshman. Last year, the typically playoff bound Jr. Blackhawk Freshman experienced a setback as they finished the season 2-5. The Freshman Blue, lead by 2nd Year Head Coach Steve Groulx, continued its playoff experience as they finished the season 5-2 and 2 playoff games. They defeated the always tough Lapeer Freshmen 18-13 and took one on the chin from the eventual NYFL Super Bowl III Champion Pontiac Panthers 31-0. Kickoff is at Varsity Field (not the High School) at 4:30pm (Saturday). The JV Blue will finish the day with a twilight game against the playoff experience JV Jr. Blackhawks from Brandon. Last year, the Jr. Blackhawks JV experience a wonderful season as they finished as the #2 seek with a 5-2 regular season record. They went into the playoffs and recorded a tough 29-21 victory against the Lake Orion White squad. The season ended with an tough emotional loss against the NYFL Super Bowl III Runner Up Clarkston White 20-6. The JV Blue, lead by 2nd Year Head Coach Russ Petersen, will begin another playoff run. Last year the 4-3 Chiefs earned the #3 seed to only be defeated by the eventual NYFL Super Bowl III Champions Lake Orion Dragons Green 40-18. Kickoff is at 6:45pm at Varsity Field (Saturday). After a night of rest, it is time to get up and hurry on down to Birmingham where our two Super Bowl III teams and the Varsity squad will attempt to begin another playoff run. To start the day, Super Bowl III Runner Up Freshman White will begin another tough season. The will begin the day with playoff experience Birmingham Patriots Blue. The Patriots Blue finished the regular season 4-3 as the #3 seed. They experience some tremendous football as they upset the #2 Waterford Green with a 19-12 upset. The Patriots Blue will be seeking revenge as they were knocked out of the 2007 playoffs with a loss to these Clarkston White 30-12. Last year, the Clarkston White, lead by Head Coach Joel Wells, experienced a great playoff run only to come up short in the final game losing the NYFL Super Bowl Champion Pontiac Panthers. Kickoff is at 10am at Seaholm High School. The Junior Varsity White, is lead by a new head coach Paul Chewins, but the coaching staff remains in tack as another attempt at a playoff run is about to start. The first opponent is the Birmingham Patriots JV Blue. Last year the Patriots JV Blue had a tough season finishing 1-6. The Chiefs JV White were on the opposite side of the standings as they had a undefeated regular season and experienced a disappointing overtime loss in the final game against the Super Bowl III Champion Lake Orion Dragons Green. Kickoff is at Noon at Seaholm High School. The Varsity will begin another playoff run as they are lead by 3rd year Head Coach Steve Ellsworth. They will take on the Birmingham Patriots who split the season series with a 22-14 win and a 0-20 loss over the Chiefs. Last year, the injured Chiefs could not keep up with the Pontiac Panthers as they were knocked out of the playoffs 32-7. The Varsity is looking to use its playoff experinenced players to get back to the Super Bowl. Kickoff is at 2pm at Seaholm High School.
