Flames Have Good Showing In Cooperstown Despite All Of The Elements.....
The 10u Cincy Flames traveled to New York to Cooperstown Dream's Park for their once in a life time experience. Well, they definately got the FULL experience. Hours before their first game, the Flu bug hit the Flames with several kids throwing up and in the clinic. It got so bad that Dreams Park officials had to ask the Flames to leave the barricks so they did not get other teams sick. All week long the Flames battled the elements. Fog, rain, hail and trying to figure out who was going to get sick which game. However, the boys battled threw those elements and made it to the last day of playing when they finally got knocked off by the #2 seed out of California 13-9. The Flames finished 6-3 which is a great feat for what they had to endure. The Flu bug didn't stop with the players as each family had siblings and parents sick as can be. A total of 19 people got the flu. So when I say the Flames got the FULL experience....they got the FULL experience. The boys showed how tough they where during some very tough times. 12 years old can not come soon enough so we can enjoy the experience when we are not sick.

Flames Runner-Up In Tourney Of Champions
"Mother Nature" finally let the Flames finish a tourney but the outcome was not exactly what they where hoping for. The Flames came out strong in the tourney with an opening win of 11-1 over the Butler County Bombers- American in their first pool game. Then the Flames had a team record 35 hits in a 34-1 win over the Nobelsville Heat. Then in the final pool game, the Flames beat the NKY Riverhawks 5-2. The Semi-Final game was against the Cincy Stix who the Flames beat 9-2, however the Flames wheels fell off in the finals as they took one on the chin to the Cincy Riverbats in a 14-5 loss. Congats to the Riverbats on a great win and we look forward to the next meeting.

Flames Revert To Small Ball To Win 4-1 Over Tough NK Giants Team
The Flames scored in the first inning when Zach Johnson singled in Kaleb Lepper to take an early lead 1-0. The Nky Giants scored one in the 2nd inning to tie the score 1-1. The game remained tied until the bottom of the 5th when the Flames reverted to small ball to win the game. With one out, Maxx Hollland singled, stole second, and went to third on a passed ball. Then Brandon Giltrow suicide squeeze bunted Holland in to take a 2-1 lead. Then Austin McKee singled to move Giltrow, who was safe at 1st on the fielders choice, to third base. Then Austin Hatfield suicide squeeze bunted Giltrow in to take a 3-1 lead. Then Justin Moyer singled home McKee to bring the score to 4-1. Lepper pitched two solid innings to start but got a no decision. Noah Marshall got the win in two scoreless innings of relief while Hayden Bianchinni picked up the save in the 6th.

Mother Nature Shortens Another Tourney As Rain Washes Out Finals Of The Ohio Bash For Cash
The Flames opened pool play of the Ohio Heat Bash For Cash by playing a very tough New Paris Red Front. Both teams have been wanting to play each other for a long time and they both finally got the chance. Flames won 11-3 in four innings behind a superb pitching performance by James Harness. Harness scattered three hits over those four innings striking out four Red Front hitters while helping his cause at the plate with two hits. Zach Johnson added a double and a triple, while Maxx Holland also collected two hits in the winning effort.
Pool game #2 saw two excellent teams compete against each other for the first time and neither team let any of the spectators down at Milford's Expressway Park. Both the Flames and Olentangy Warriors have also been wanting to play each other for awhile hearing so much about each other. In one of the most exciting games that I ever been associated with, the Flames loss 6-5 in eight innings to Olentangy.
The Flames took the early lead 1-0 in the second when Johnson led off with a single, stole 2nd, and scored on a wild pitch. The Flames stretched that lead to 2-0 in the third when McKee led off with a walk, stole 2nd, and eventually scored on a suicide squeeze bunt hit from Justin Moyer. Olentangy came storming back when they had a two out, two strike 2B that plated two runs to knot the game at 2-2. In the top of the fith, Olentangy's lead off hitter walked and eventually scored on a base hit to take the lead 3-2. Then in the bottom of the sixth with two outs Kaleb Lepper singled and stole second base. Then Jeron Besecker slugged a double down the right field line to score Lepper to tie the game in regulation. Then the game went to a Ohio tie breaker where runners started at 1b and 2B with no outs. Olentangy scored two in the top of the 7th on another two out hit. The Flames matched those in the bottom of the seventh with a rope by James Harness that pushed the game to another inning. Unfortunately, the Flames once again walked the lead off batter in the top of the eight to load the bases and then the Warriors scored a run on a groundball to second to take a 6-5 lead. The Flames knocked on the door in the bottom of the eight but the pitcher made a diving stop to knock down Brandon Giltrow's potential game winning hit. Hats off to the Warriors who played a great game.
Flames ended up a four seed and was looking to fight their way back for revenge but mother nature put a stop to that when the rain shortened the tourney. The Cincy Stix where named the champions as the least amount of runs given up and Olentangy was the runner-up. Congrats to both. Now the Flames have to wait until Memorial Day to get a second chance at Olentangy.

Flames Beat 11u Middletown Redlegs 18-3
James Harness set the tone of the game when he blasted an inside fastball over the left field fence to take a early 2-0 lead against the 11u Middletown Redlegs. Flames bats where quiet in the 2nd but they scraped for two more in the 3rd behind Lepper's double and Beseckers sacrifice. Then the Flames busted it wide open in the fourth inning and there was no getting them out from there as they went on to score 18 runs on 18 hits. Flames bats where led by Austin McKee's 3 hits while Hatfield, Holland, and Moyer all added two hits a piece. The Flames where also tough on the mound as Marshall, Lepper and Holland combined for a two hitter.

Flames Bat's Still Hot in 11-1 Victory Over Sharks
The boys showed they can win with out Coach Ken as they came out swinging some hot sticks agasint the Sharks. Coach Ken showed up long enough to tell the boys that he wanted to hear they played hard while he was gone. The boys did not let him down. The Flames put up four in the first and there was no looking back from there as they went on to score 11 runs on 11 hits behind a great pitching performance from James Harness and Justin Moyer who combined for eight strikeouts only giving up two hits. Hitting leaders where Tyler Duval who doubled, tripled and homered, Jeron Bescker who had three hits (2B), and Noah Marshall who added 2 hits.

Flames Blank Patriots 14-0 In a HURLING Performance!!
Nothing was going to keep Austin "AHat" Hatfield from making his first start on the mound in his life. Not even puking three times and being sicker than a dog! (What a great dad to let him pitch anyway regardless of what mom and grandma says!:) With puke stains on his uniform, AHat slowly strolled to the mound and started to "hurl." AHat picked up the win in his first start throwing three scoreless innings only giving up one hit behind some great defense including a 6-4-3 double play to end the 2nd inning. (Holland-Moyer-to Harness). Hatfield helped his own cause collecting 2 hits while teammate Maxx Holland collected two hits of his own. Moyer and Lepper doubled while Marshall added a triple to round out the balanced hitting attack that mustered 11 hits and scored 14 runs. Besecker and Johnson completed the shutout on the mound. Also, back by popuular demand was the JUMBO outfield for the last inning of the game.

10u Flames Runner-Up In The 11u Advantage Sports Spring Classic
10u Flames entered their 2nd 11u tourney of the year hoping this one would be completed but once again mother nature tried to ruin it. The field crew worked their butts off on the fields at Eggelston Park and although everything was pushed back, the Flames got both games in. In game one the Flames played the 11u NKy Hornets and came out swinging the stick picking up three quick runs in the top of the 1st to take the lead 3-0. The Hornets swarmed back to take the lead in the bottom of the third 4-3. The Flames responded with three runs in the top of 4th and never looked back going on to win 9-4. Justin Moyer picked up the win hurling four great innings while Kaleb Lepper picked up the save pitching two innings of scoreless relief. In the winning effort, Harness had three hits (2b), Johnson had two doubles, Bianchinni doubled, and Giltrow added a triple.
Game two was a slugfest between the 11u Ky Bucks and the 10u Flames. The Flames once again got things started quick putting up four runs in the top of the 1st but the Bucks came storming back to pick up five runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st. Both teams took turns taking the lead while both of them just thumped the baseball. When the time limit was up, the score was knotted 10 to 10 after four innings stopping a very exciting game. Lepper, Johnson, and McKee all three had two hits a piece while Besecker added a triple.
The pool championship was decided by the tie breaker rule which came down to the run differential which the Flames won and advanced onto the Semi Finals on Sunday.
10u Flames once again faced the tough 11u NKy Hornets in the Semi-Finals and Flames bats remained hot collecting 15 hits in the game led by Noah Marshall's 3 hits. Lepper, Besecker, Johnson and Moyer all added two hits a piece. Austin McKee and Hayden Bianchinni pitched incredible in the 8-3 victory.
In the championship game, Flames faced a very good team in the 11u Nky Bluegrass Rage. Hats off to the Rage's pitcher who throw a complete 2 hit shutout.
Flames caoching staff was very pleased with how the boys competed against the older boys and proud to be the 11u Advantage Sports Spring Classic Runner-Up.

Yo' Ho' Ho' And A Bottle Of Eye Wash as Flames' Bats Still Smoking In 15-5 win
Ahoy mates, all ye need to know is the clock struck 6:30 and Captain Ken and quartermaster Barncle Doug screamed "all hands ahoy, avast ye me hearties and let the game begin". And Shiver me timbers if Kaleb Lepper didn't pull out his hitting stick from his duffle and get the ball rolling with a solo homerun to lead the game off as the Flames danced the hempen jig and never looked back as they pounded out 17 hits and 15 runs to hornswaggle another victory from some tough landlubber's from the westside called JB Yeager. Ol' chumbucket hisself Maxx Holland kept the Flames from falling back into Davy Jone's locker as he led the charge going 3 for 3 at the plate, diving catch in center, bloody nose rounding 1st, and bruised chin diving back into second to go along with his recent black eye. Little matey Zach Johnson also collected three hits with only a homerun shy of the cycle. As first mates Giltrow, Harness, Besceker and Marshall squabbed the deck with two hits a piece. Flames pitchers Bianchinni, Besecker, Harness and Hatfield threw out the hempen halter protecting the poop deck as they only allowed four hits in the winning effort.

Flames Step Out Of The Ring Of Fire, Johnny Cash style...
On Saturday, the Flames decided to go to the "Johnny Cash" black uniforms to excercise the demons out of their dugout. "Cash black" does the trick as the Flames win their first league game against the Fairfield Chiefs 11-3 behind the strong pitching of Justin Moyer and James Harness. Brandon Giltrow and Hayden Bianchinni lead them in hitting as both go 3-3 while Besecker and Holland both added doubles.
On Sunday, Flames decided to give their "Tiger Woods Red" a crack sporting the turn back the clock HIGH RED SOCKS and they looked good as they slugged out 26 hits and 27 runs. (Rumor has it that Flames preferred instructor, Doug Smith (Diamond Star Baseball Academy), threw up when he saw the picture of the high red socks on the internet and was so disgusted that he canceled Mondays lessons!) Sunday was also the first sighting of the year for the JUMBO OUTFIELD! Joe Bianchinni (Flames bullpen catcher/#1 fan), who is always the calmest guy in the park whom Ken looks to for his baseball wisdom and encouragement, was almost speechless when he looked out in the outfield and all he could think of for a response to Ken was "Oh my!"

Flames Wake Up And Finally Show Some Heart!!!!!
After "kissing their sister" and finishing with a tie against the West Chester Sluggers 9-9 on Tuesday, most people thought the Flames would come out with a vengenance on Thursday against the West Side Raiders. However, the Flames left off right where they ended on Tuesday which was not coming to the ball park ready to play. For four innings the Flames where lifeless making mistake after mistake. After four complete, the Flames found themselves down 8-3 to a scrappy Raiders team. It looked certain the Flames where going to drop their first "L" in the books for 2008. However, the Flames decided to wake up and make some noise in the dugout. For the first time in 10 innings the dugout did not sound like a morgue. The boys in pin stripes scrapped for three runs in the top of the 5th to bring the score to 8-6 to set up the exciting 6th innning. Justin Moyer started the 6th of with a rifle to left field for a single and then Ty Duvall let one rip "oppo" deep in the alley to tie the game up with a 2 run homer. The flood gates where open then as the Flames started finally hitting the ball like they are capable of. The Flames exploded for 10 runs in last two innings to defeat the boys from the west side 13-9. Tyler Duvall pitched the last 2 2/3 innings striking out seven to pick up the win in relief. Austin McKee added two doubles in the winning effort.

Despite Freezing Temperatures, Flames Move On To Semi-Finals In 11u Tourney
Despite the cold, Flames bats stayed hot! Mother nature did not cooperate this weekend as the Flames had moved to the semi-final round of the 11u Blue Ash Baseball Classic but where not able to complete it due to the weather. The 10u Flames where looking for the opportunity to win their first tourney ever playing up. The Flames where undefeated and where heading to the semi-finals when mother nature spoiled the fun! The Flames will have to wait 2 more weeks until they play their next 11u tourney.

Maxx Holland, Zach Johnson, and Austin Hatfield (2 innings) combined to pitch a no hitter striking out 10 batters in four innings as the Flames bats where potent putting up 16 runs for their pitching efforts.

All I can say is how can a 11u team be afraid of a 10u team? C'MON!!

Justin Moyer and James Harness pitched a tremendous game against a very good 11u team. The defense was a little shaky but did I mention it was below 30 degrees and windy as can be??? Flames bats started off slow but picked up quick as they got the timely hits they need against a good pitching staff of the Sluggers to win 6-3

Despite Sloppy Defense, Flames Beat Monroe Hornets 10-5 and Monroe Swarm 13-9
The Flames put themselves in a hole early by making 4 errors in the 1st inning and getting behind 3-0 wasting a great pitching performance from Hayden Bianchinni. However, the Flames bounced right back putting up a 2 spot on the board in the bottom of the 1st with back to back doubles by James Harness and Noah Marshall. The next four innings where all Flames as they tacked on the hits and put up some runs while Austin McKee was lights out on the hill throwing gas striking out 6 of the 9 batters he faced picking up the win. The Flames committed 3 more errors in the top of the 6th but Austin Hatfield pitched his way out of it to pick up the save. Flames move to 4-0.
The Flames came out stroking early taking a quick early lead 6-0 vs the Monroe Swarm at Swarm field. Flames bats stayed hot as they scored 13 runs but defense was a little shaky once again. Flames pitched seven pitchers 20 pitches a piece to get ready for the up and coming tourney. Final score was 13-9.

Johnny Cash Gets The Worm
The 10u Cincy Flames wearing their "Johnny Cash Black" uniforms won three straight games on Saturday to win their pool in the "Early Bird Gets The Worm" tourney. Heavy rain washed out Friday's games and sloppy field conditions pushed back the tourney where the Flames had to play three games in one day. In the morning they beat KC Thunder 11-2, then in the afternoon drilled the Northern Ky Irish 28-0, and finished the long day by winning the slug fest with NKAC Riverhawks 16-10 under the lights. With the heavy rain, some of the teams in the other two pools had not completed their three pool games which they had to on Sunday causing any championship game to be canceled. With the Flames only giving up 12 runs allowed, they where offically crowned champs of the Early Bird Gets The Worm.

10u Cincy Flames Ranked #13 in the Nation In Pre-Season Poll
After finishing the seaon last year 54-11 and winning the CABA National Championship, Travelball Select has listed the 10u Cincy Flames as the 13th best select team in the nation in their pre-season poll. A very prestigious honor for the Flames that they will have to work hard to maintain their ranking and prove Travelball Select is correct.

08 Roster Is Set
The 2008 10u Cincy Flames roster is now set with the addittions of Maxx Holland of Fairfield, James Harness of Huber Heights, and Zack Johnson of Huber Heights. The Flames will play a 50-55 game schedule in 2008, which includes approximately seven tournaments. They will begin their season in March with the Advantage Sports March Madness Tourney and end their season in mid July with the Barrett-Fletcher World Series in Louisville, KY. This season the Flames will also make the trip to Cooperstown June 14th-June 20th to play against 96 of the best teams in the nation at Dreams Park. The 10U Flames will also host two tourneys in 2008. They will host their Flames Summer Classic June 6th-8th as well as the Flames Tourney Of Champions which is May 16-18. It should be another exciting season for the boys in pinstripes as they re-load to compete for another National Championship.
