WHISKEY, TANGO, FOXTROT....... PATS END SEASON THE WAY IT BEGAN.....
Well, there is absolutely way too much to cover here, so just enjoy the scoreboard graphics and we'll focus on the standouts.
Pitchers Ryan Burgette, J.D. Pruitt (Game 2 relief) and Jeremy Cockerham all threw terrific games (respectively) - well enough for us to win each game. Combined, they only allowed 5 earned runs (0-3-2) but just didn't get the support at the plate or in the field.
In the end, the Cincinnati Flames advance to the N.A.B.F. World Series in Louisville. We wish them luck as the Cincinnati representitive and hope they can bring back the crown.
Thanks to Tom Nerl for running another great set of tournaments. We'll see you next year!

PATRIOTS WASTE BURGETTE'S EXCELLENT EFFORT BY NOT PLAYING SMART...LOSE 1-0.
Gut check time for the Patriots.
In round one of the NABF, Cheviot's lack of effort and too much talk about games 2 and 3 cost the club dearly as they record only 3 hits while striking out 12 times against Dayton Trophy.
Sadly - with all the speed in the world in our line-up, we continue to waste it with individuality in mind. Yep. Called out.
RHP R. Burgette threw a complete game, ONE-hit gem, recording 13 STRIKEOUTS , 3 PICKOFFS and pretty much doing everything himself.
Dayton scored the only run when the leadoff hitter struck out, reached base on a pass-ball, scoring two errors later. Yep, an offensive strikeout was the only run of the game.
Top of the seventh was our closest shot as 1B Tim Oakes' leadoff double missed tying it up by six inches - bouncing off the toprail of the left field wall.
In all, there were 4 hits and 25 strikeouts in the game with one walk.
The Pats will have to decide how they want to play out the Tournament as they take on the Cobalts @ 3:30, followed by the Chiefs @ 8:30 Friday.

PATS MAKE FINAL FOUR, LOSE IN SEMI-FINALS ON LITTANY OF ERRORS...
Well, the Patriots made a decent run in the city tournament after taking on some of the best Semi-Pro clubs in the region.
After a first round win against the "Woodpushers", Cheviot locked up against the CoBalts in round two, sending the Pats to an extremely tough losers bracket that included games against last years champions Yorkville, the Cincinnati Chiefs and the Cincinnati Hawks.
Knocking off Yorkville against their Ace was the highlight of our run, followed by a big win against a tough Cincinnati Chiefs club (6-5) and ending with a 6-3 loss to finalists the Cincinnati Hawks.
The loss to the Hawks was difficult to swallow as the Patriots out hit them 10-3. We also kicked the ball around a ton which proved to be the difference as the Pats handed the Hawks the win with 5 of their 6 runs unearned.
Overall, a good run as the Pats finished 4th in a field of 18.
Up next, the seasons last hoorah as the NABF Tournament gets started this Thursday. Stay tuned for more Patriot Baseball!

PATRIOTS A NO SHOW AS CHIEFS RUN US OVER.....!
Our apologies to the Cincinnati Chiefs.
Our only Saturday game all season long and it's enough of a "wrinkle" for most of the line-up to go AWOL.
With 5 position players and 4 pitchers, the Patriots withstood a firing squad as the Chiefs lined 'em up and shot 'em down. We record only 3 hits while the Chiefs have their way at the plate and off the mound. Seems like we waisted their time as they came prepared and we didn't.
Some sort of "tune-up" before the Tourney!
Next up, the 2008 City Championship.

PATS SMOKED BY THE HEAT DURING "SOCCERGATE"...
 | | | DUDE, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? | |
Well, this seems about right for 2008.
First, the game.
The Ohio Heat and Patriots played a 9 inning contest at LaSalle High School Tuesday night....
....and thats about all of the Patriot highlights right there as they are completely shut down on four hits and no runs. Smoked.
Second, the side show.
Pats follow proper proceedure for reserving the field 3 weeks in advance. We show up only to see that LaSalle's soccer club has taken down the outfield fence. Nice. We put it back up and play ball. About the 3rd inning, Coach "Beckham" shows up pitchin' a fit about practicing in our outfield. Seems Pele thinks we should stop the game, take down the fence, set up his cones, rub his feet and make him dinner. Not happenin'. So, Mia Hamm keeps whinin' and cryin' like a gnat that just won't go away until he finally goes off in a huff with his sports bra in a bunch to practice on the OPEN field behind the the one we're playing on.
Perfect example of why soccer should only be played in Europe.
Needless to say, we've decided that LaSalle might not be worth the effort in the future.
Pats take on the Meridians this Thursday at Roselawn after Lacross practice (6:30).

PATS AND RANGERS GO DOWN TO THE WIRE WHEN BLOWN CALL DECIDES IT.....
Man, we just can't catch a break.
A great game Sunday saw the Patriots and Rangers go back and forth for nine innings with good pitching, good hitting and not so great defense.
RHP Todd Schwertman started and surrendered 5 hits in four innings, allowing 3 runs (0 earned) before giving way to LHP Josh Elleman who threw 2 perfect frames. Jeremy Cockerham recorded one inning and Brian Farrell threw the last two.
Of the 9 innings, only one run was earned as the Pats saw six errors (5 in the OF) foil some decent pitching.
Catcher Brian Conner went crazy at the dish, going 5-5 with two triples, two doubles and a single, with 2RBI.
With the game tied 5-5 in the top of the 9th and two outs, DH Tim Oakes lined a ball up the middle that sent CF Weinle from 2nd to home. Weinle beats the ball slides around catcher but is called out by the home plate umpire "Chester", ending the inning.
Unfortunately, the place goes nuts on the call and when all is said and done, 3 fans and 3 Patriot players (all in the lineup) are tossed by a foolishly "proud" umpire with self esteem issuses.
Subsequently, the Rangers score in the bottom half against a depleted Patriot roster for the "W".
Rangers played great and deserved the win. Just a shame it had to end the way it did. Oh well.
Back at it Tuesday against the Ohio Heat!
 | | DIFFERENT UNIFORMS / SAME ANTICS... | |
Sunday, July 20
PATS TANGLE WITH SUDS....ER, I MEAN, HAWKS - WIN 2-1.
 | | | Typical Suds - Do as I say, Not as I do..." | |
Well, you can take the "Sud" out of the Hawk, no...wait, the Hawk comes out of the "Sud"? Whatever. Bottom line, some things never change.
Seems that the old Roy Hobbs League antics have crossed over into the CRC.
During RHP Burgette's utter dominance of the Hawks (Managed by one R.H. League President), one bird took exception to being hit late in the game. Conventional wisdom says that when you're up 2-1, you don't want to put the tying run on....but, we don't play in the senior circuit, so I guess we should differ to those that do.
Anyway, said "Falconiform" walks towards the mound, picks up the ball and hits Burgette with a glancing "toss".
Umpires intervene and cooler heads prevail as Burgette strikes out the side in the following half of the 7th for the exclaimation point.
Makes you wonder what kinda fine / suspension or banishment would have been levied had this incident occured on another team.....
I guess it's "good to be the king...."

EMERGENCY SURGERY SIDELINES THE WEBSITE......!
Well, I'm back.
After having emergency surgery on the Fourth of July, I have returned. Thanks for all the well-wishers.... greatly appreciated!
As such, I will attempt to update everyone as best as I can about the past two weeks of Patriot action.
In the meantime, a few updates about the last two series between the Cincinnati Hawks and Fairfield Rangers.
On Thursday, the Patriots and Hawks faced of for the second time this season in CRC action, with Cheviot coming out on top, 2-1.
Sunday saw the Pats and Rangers slug it out in a single nine-inning contest that saw a good game (tied 5-5 in the ninth) sullied by one poor official and 1/3 of the Patriots ejected at the end in a 6-5 loss.
Stay tuned for updates on all of the action since the Fourth!

FLAMES "OUT" BEFORE WE EVEN GET STARTED....!!!!
Well, seems as if the Cincinnati Flames have some administrative issues as one team shows up to play (that would be us) only to find an empty dugout.
Thanks for the effort guys. I suppose letting the other team in on it would be out of order? Hopefully the league will step in to make sure that this doesn't happen again.
Next up for the Patriots, The Miami Valley 4th of July Tournament! Stay tuned!

PATS AND TALONS CLAW OUT ANOTHER SPLIT....
The Patriots and Talons scrapped through another Sunday double-header split, 3-2 and 10-1.
Cheviot sent RHP Bergett to the hill in game one, and he simply dominated again with a 6 inn9ing, 2 hit, 0 run effort with 9K's. Extra innings with no score proved fatal for the Pats as the Talons racked up 3 unearned runs on two Patriot miscues.
Down 3-0 with two outs in the eight, Patriots 1B Tim Oakes hit a single over second base scoring two, but aggressive base running foiled the comeback attempt as a runner was thrown out at third to end the game.
Game two saw the Patriots smoke the ball at the plate, with every player in the line-up recording at least one hit. Multiple hits by Conner, Cockerham, Weinle and Fusco led the attack, with Pruitt adding a 2B.
Schaffer gets the "W".
Next up, a rematch with the Flames, this Tuesday (6:30) at West Chest!

THURSDAY - PATS PUT OUT THE FLAMES / FRIDAY - THEY FLARE UP AGAIN....
Tale of two games here.
On Thursday, the Patriots and Flames met for game one of a two game series at Roselawn. RHP Mark Bogenschutz threw zeros for the Pats simply dominating the Flames young line-up by not allowing a hit.
Offensively, the Patriots scored right out of the gate on a two-run HR by 1B Tim Oakes. Jake Cockerham was a perfect 2-2 with a 2B, and C Adam Farwick was also 2-2.
Then the Tsunami came in the 3rd with the Patriots up 5-0, washing everything away until the next night.
Friday saw a complete reversal of fortune as the Patriots scheduled starter is a late scratch, along with four other regulars making the night unpleasant. The Flames hit 13 ground balls through the infield and pour it on as the diet version of the Patriots looks light. Up 8-2, the Flames start chirpin' and a lesson is learned by a young infielder whose obviously never been there before.
Should make for an interesting rematch.
Next up, the Patriots face the Talons on Sunday (1:00) for a DH at LASALLE HIGH SCHOOL.
See you there!

PATRIOTS OPEN UP ON THE CHIEFS WITH 8 RUNS / 12 HITS AS BERGETT HOLDS 'EM TO 1 KNOCK...!
The Patriots and Chiefs met Tuesday night at Lakotas junior high field (literally) and thumped out 8 runs on 12 hits. Each Pat in the line-up reached base with Cockerham, Mayer, Farwick, Weinle, Fusco and Gorman recording multiple or extra base hits. Weinle with the big blast (2-run HR), Cockerham (3-4, 2R's), Farwick (2-3, 2B), Mayer and Gorman (2B's) leading the way.
More impressive was Bergetts effort on the bump, as he cruised through 5 innings of no hit, 5K hurling before giving up one on a routine flyball (325 to center??).
Desjardins records 2 innings to wrap things up as the final score ends up 8-2.
Next up for the Patriots, the Cincinnati Flames (6:30) at Roselawn this Thursday.
See you there!

LEATHER TRAUMA AND DUGOUT DRAMA FOIL STEVENS EXCELLENT OUTING, 3-2....
To many things going on...
RHP Brian Stevens threw an absolute jem tonight that yeilded just 5 hits (three infield) and no earned runs with 5k's against the Cincinnati Hawks in 3-2 losing effort.
The Patriots just couldn't field anything, registering a season high 7 errors that led to all three Hawks runs. Not much more to report.
The Patriots will get back at it again tonight against the Cincinnati Flames @ Roselawn (6:30). See you there!

PATRIOTS THUMP CHAMPIONS IN A NINE INNING AFFAIR AT N.K.U......!
The Patriots and Champions Baseball Academy faced off tonight at Northern Kentucky University's Bill Akers Field for a single Nine Inning game in Southwest Ohio League action.
As game time approached (6:00), the Pats could only field 8 players as rush-hour traffic and a Reds games knarled up the roads preventing some pre-game warm up, but at 5:58 - LHP Josh Elleman rolled up in turf shoes and took the hill.
Elly proceeded to shut down the Champs with 8 innings of 5 hit baseball, allowing 5 runs (3 earned) while striking out 5 along the way. RHP Jeremy Cockerham pitched a perfect 9th to seal the win for the Patriots, 10-5.
Big story tonight was the Patriot plate appearances as Cheviot racked up 13 hits led by 1B Tim Oakes (4-5, 2B, RBI, 3R's), 3B Brian Conner (3-6, RBI, 3SB's), RF Matt Singer (2-3, 2RBI, 3B, BB, 3R, HBP) and 2B Craig Gorman (1-3, 3B, SAC).
The win tonight makes the Patriots 3-2 on the season.
Next up for the Pats, the Cincinnati Hawks this Thursday @ Roselawn (6:30). See you there!

Another sad note for this 2008 campaign involves the announcement of the sudden death of "Mick" Sharkey, President of the Blue Chip Umpires Association and longtime Field Umpire and Referee.
"Sharkey", as he was known was 59.
Mick died of an apparent heart attack at his home on Sunday afternoon, June 8th.

PATRIOTS SPLIT WITH TALONS IN 96 DEGREE HEAT......!
Hot.
The Pats and the Cincinnati Talons of the Southwest Ohio League played at Foundation Field this Sunday as the tempurate topped 96 degrees.
Game One saw the Patriots waste a terrific outing by RHP Mark Schwertman in a 3-2 loss. Mark went 6 innings, allowing 7 hits and striking out 9.
The Pats were simply overheated at the plate as they could only muster 5 hits. RF Murden went 1-1with 2BB's and a Run.
Game Two saw the Patriots hydrate while staying in the shade as they "cool" off for all seven runs in the 2nd inning. RHP Brian Farrell recorded his 2nd win of the year as the Pats won 7-6. LF Weinle was 1-1 with 2BB's and a run, while 3B Fusco went 1-2 with a walk / run and RBI. Murden and Jake Cockerham tallied 2B's respectively.
The Patriots now sit at 2-2 on the season and take on the Champions Baseball Academy this Tuesday @ N.K.U. (6:00). See you there!

FORMER PATRIOT JOHNATHAN "J-LUV" LOVE DONATES KIDNEY TO FATHER.....
Former Cheviot Patriot Johnathan Love gives the ultimate gift to his ailing father by donating a kidney.
Mr. Love faced the life-threatening situation side-by-side with his son "J", who didn't hesitate to offer up one of his healthy kidney's when the call came.
At last report (Thursday), both of the Love's were doing well, with "Senior" recovering comfortably, and "Junior" bouncing right back.
Incidently, (and of little importance considering the situation) J-Luv should be back with the Cincinnati Hawks in about 6 weeks.
Way to step up to the plate, J-Luv! Here's hoping for a quick recovery for you and your Dad!

PATS FIND BATS AGAINST MERIDIANS IN A 9-2 VICTORY...!
The Patriots and Meridians squared off Thursday night for the first time in 2008 as the Cheviot Nine find the lumber in a 9-2 win.
Hard throwing Mark Begenschutz allowed only 3 hits and one run through 4 innings of work before giving way to lefty Josh Ellman in the 5th. Josh followed suit with an equally impressive outing, allowing just one hit through 2. Right hander Ryan Desjardins made his '08 debut with perfect inning to seal the deal.
Matt Singer came out retirement for his first appearance of the young season and quickly picked up where he left of in 2006, belting a double with two walks and two runs scored.
Catcher Adam farwick went 3-4 with a double and triple as the big hitter of the night.
Next up for the Pats.... The Kentucky Talons this Sunday at Hamilton's Foundation Field - a 1:00pm double header!
See you at the Park!

PATRIOTS AND HAMILTON HEAT SPLIT PRACTICE SERIES AT FOUNDATION FIELD...
The Patriots and the Hamilton Heat squared off for a practice series held at beautiful Foundation Field this Sunday and split the contests, 7-4 (Heat) and 12-0 (Patriots).
The field was in great shape (Thanks to Coach "D" and his crew) and the Pats got a lot of much needed work in.
With a few more innings and AB's under their belt, the Patriots kick off the Southwest Ohio League schedule thuis Tuesday against the Cincinnati Cheifs at Lakota.

U.G.L.Y. - PATRIOTS SPREAD POOR PLAY AROUND IN OPENING DAY LOSS TO THE COBALTS...
The Patriots looked liked a team that hadn't practiced or played since 2007......(maybe 'cause we haven"t??) as they dropped the Opening Day game to the Cobalts, 8-1.
Nine errors - spread around pretty evenly - and a rediculous 3 hits made for one really weird night as both clubs looked rusty (Bad guys only had 4 knocks as well).
Anyway, hightlights were, well - few. Chordie Theilmeyer did gun down a Cobalt runner at the plate in the 6th, but he was pretty much the only player without an "E".
Conners, Mays and Oakes tallied the only hits of the evening. Nothing more to report.
The Patriots will face the Cincinnati Heat in the Southwest Ohio League on Sunday at Foundation Field in Hamilton for a Double-header starting at 1:00pm.
See you at the Park!

CHEVIOT BASEBALL "VETS" TOGETHER AGAIN FOR FIRST TIME IN 15 YEARS!
Well it was long overdue, but a few Cheviot Baseball Veterans got together (thanks to Dave Neville) Thursday night at "Take 5 Bar and Grille" for the first time in 15 years.
Scott "Pup" Lawson, Tim Oakes, Tom Lemmink, Billy "The Kid" Danner, Dave "No Tooth" Neville, Denny Rieman and Kenny "The Axle" Babcock all heeded the call to get together and spin a few yarns about the glory days off Robb Avenue.
Topics of discussion included Collosal Roof Shots, Green Jump Suits with Red suspenders, third baseman who played most of their career with stainless steel cookware in the field, malnuirished umpires, outfielders cut down by pellet guns, unusual topography and the ever menacing fly ball off the noggin.
Also overheard were stories of funky undergarments, Meatcakes, an entire city in Michigan affected by lead paint, Monte Carlo night with a"Dental Cheese" incident, an imaginary 300 pound spouse, firstbase coaches with chest wounds, Spriggsy's bathtub adventures (yep, he "played" here too), mutiple watering hole run-ins and a bevy of stories about women....none of which anyone could substantiate....
....and a few fond recollections of a teammate who recently passed - much too early.
Considering it was last minute, not a bad effort the first time out. Hopefully it's the first of many to come as more than a few responded but just couldn't make it happen this year.
If we missed ya, drop us a line via email (oakes21@cinci.rr.com) and I'll make sure that Dave gets your info!

FORMER CHEVIOT LEFTHANDER BILL BREWER DIES SUDDENLY AT THE AGE OF 42...
Tradgedy struck the amateur sports community here in Cincinnati on Friday, November 2nd as former Cheviot lefthanded ace Bill Brewer passed away from an apparent heart attack at the age of 42.
Bill, known mostly for his accolades as a high school basketball coach at Moeller, Roger Bacon and Princeton High Schools pitched for Cheviot from 1988 to 1993, leading the team to the AABC Regional Championship in 1992.
As a baseball player, Brewer attended Northwest High School and earned a scholarship to pitch at the University of Dayton.
As a Basketball coach at Roger Bacon, Bill led the Spartans to the 2002 State Championship, handing Lebron James and St. Vincent / St. Mary their only loss of the season.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill's wife Peggy and their three daughters in this difficult time.

CINCINNATI'S BEST SQUARE OFF IN EXTRA INNINGS YET AGAIN IN STATE SEMI-FINALS...!
After meeting 6 times this year, two teams can only take so much.....
Saturday's Buckeye Baseball Ohio State Championship featured Cincinnati's top two clubs in yet another knock-down, drag-out struggle with both clubs showcasing some good old-fashion baseball.
Both team's were forced to send their Aces to the hill as only one would advance . Cheviot, the regular season CRC League Champions and Yorkville, the CRC City Tournament Champions were somehow seeded against each other in the quarter-finals as both clubs were passed over for the bye (Yorkville earned it, had it - then somehow "lost" it the day before in favor of another local club...). Kudo's to Yorkville for not pitchin' a fit, which they had every right to do.
RHP Mark Bogenshutz was absolutely stellar in this 9 inning affair as he allowed just 4 hits and NO earned runs, striking out 5 along the way. "Bogey" , along with Yorkvilles Starter, were quite simply the biggest reasons this one turned out to be a classic. Both pitchers went the distance, survived bad innings and came through in the clutch.
No score until the 6th, when Yorkville platted one on two infield errors. Cheviot, the Home team - down 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh, tied it up the very same way on an infield error, an infield hit and a one-out, bases loaded Sac-fly by OF Tyler Kilpatrick that score Jake Cockerham.
Bogey chopped through the 8th - but Cheviot couldn't get going in their half. In the 9th, Yorkville scored a two-out un-earned run as the Pats recorded two infield "E"'s. Ugh.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Patriots just couldn't get that elusive "break" as Tim Oakes' line-drive was snagged brilliantly by a diving 3rd baseman, and Tyler Kilpatricks shot to deep center was tracked down on the run by Yorkville, ending a terrific contest.
It's been said before, and probably way too much about certain pitching efforts - but Bogey - without a doubt, deserved a better fate.
The Patriots simply lost to a better team, but not for lack of effort. We tip our caps to the boys from Indy for a well played game. Couldn't ask for much more (well, except maybe for a "W"..)!
Yorkville went on to complete an outstanding year by being crowned "State Champions" - despite having to fight an uphill battle along the way. So congrats to the Huskers..., they flat out beat everybody to earn it.

PATS BACK ON TRACK - TAKE TWO FROM TOUGH CLUBS TO ADVANCE...
It's late, but Cheviot beats last years State Champions Sharon Center Cox Painting in a classic battle 5-4. Rosa tough with Complete Game win, and Gormans Safety Squeeze in the 6th wins it, 5-4.
Game Two saw the Pats jump out early and never look back as they beat the Streetsboro SlamSox 11-3. RHP Stephens was the story as he completely shut down an offense that went extra innings against Yorkville earlier, only to lose, 11-10 in extra frames.
Cheviot slotted as the 4 seed in the 12 team elimination rounds begining Saturday. And speaking of Yorkville, these two teams will square off for the 6th time in 2007 with the Indiana Nine leading the series 4-1. Hopefully, Cheviot will solve the riddle tomorrow (1:30pm) @ Roselawn 1!

GUT CHECK TIME FOR PATRIOTS AS THEY'RE RUN OVER IN GAME ONE...
Cheviot suffered their worst lost in four years at the hnad of the M.V. Knights to open up the Buckeye Tournament, 11-2.
The worst part of this shellacing was the lack of heart displayed by a team that has had it all year long.
Everything from hitting, throwing and catching was absent for the Pats as they simply laid down and had it handed to them.
Tommorow, Cheviot takes on last years State Champion Sharon Cox Center Painting. If the Patriot Nine don't pull together fast, it's gonna be a short tournament.
First pitch @ 5:30 (Roselawn 1).

The Patriots played two hard fought contests Thursday night in the quarter finals against what has proved to be their arch nemisis in '07 the Yorkville Huskers, followed by the familiar Cincinnati Cobalts.
In Game One, Cheviot squared off with Yorkville for the 5th time this year. Mike Rosa was sent to the mound and charged with defeating a team the Pats have struggled against all season. "Big Sexy" came up huge in his effort as he recorded 6 2/3rds of 7 hit, 2 earned runs baseball. But Rosa left the game tied at three as 4 of those seven hits were flare, bloops and miscues.
In the seventh, Yorkville put two on and in came RHP Mark Bogenshutz. "Bogey" recorded two outs when another "in-betweener" found the pasture setting up a play at the plate. With a quick relay to the plate, Yorkville's runner was caught between third and home. After several throws, Bogey made a beautiful diving tag on the runner who was mistakenly called safe, extending the inning. Yorkville tacked on one more run with the extra at bat as the Pats just couldn't get back up.
Great game between the two teams. Make no mistake - the Pats didn't lose because of the call, but rather on the 6 errors and lack offense with RISP. We just waited too long at the plate - which can't happen against a tough team.
In Game Two, the Pats had to regroup to take on the Cobalts - who lost to Montgomery Inn in game one.
Cheviot sent Matt Wilder to the hill in an effort to change their luck. But, despite an incredible effort through four innings, the Pats found themselves down 4-0 as the Cobalts capitalized on 3 errors and some seriously whacky infield bounces. Only three bloops gets them 4 runs.
In the fourth, the Cobalts got a little "chatty" and awoke the Patriot offense as Cheviot roared back with 4 runs on six shots to tie up the game and silence the chirping.
Game stays tied until the 6th when Wilder - dominating all night long - simply ran out of gas. The valiant effort ends up an 11-5 loss and a disappointing fourth place finish for the League Champions.
Congratulations to Yorkville - the winners of this years post season tournament - for going undefeated enroute to the Championship!
As Regular Season League Champions, the Patriots turned down the automatic NABF bid - favoring instead to participate in the 2nd Annnual Buckeye Baseball Classic that sends Ohio's best teams to Cincinnati looking for an outright State Champion!
League winners from Cleveland, Columbus, Akron and other parts make the trip to the Queen City to fight it out for the crown!
First game for the Patriots is Thursday, 8-9-07 at Hille Field (9:00pm) to take on the Mahoning Valley Knights of the Warren AA Baseball League (Akron).

Cheviot faced the Cincinnati Tigers on Tuesday in the Elite Eight and dispatched the 'Cats 12-0 i 5 innings. RHP Bryan Stephens was on fire as he recorded his 3rd complete game of the season, allowing only 2 hits and striking out five. Interestingly, though, he plunked 4 Tigers along the way - also a season high.
Craig Gorman stay hot going 2-3 (5-6 in the Touurnament), with Jake Cockerham, Curtis Blank, Adam Farwick, Tyler Kilpatrick and Chorde Thielmeyer swinging the stick as well.

Big nights at the plate included 3B Craig Gorman(3-3, 2B, 3r's), Jake Cockerham(2-4, 2B, 2RBI's), Adam Farwick(2-2, 2r's, 2B, 2HBP's) and Tyler Kilpatrick(2-4, 3B, 2r's). Eight of ten hitters records hits as well.

PATRIOTS (25-8) GET SLOW-ROASTED BY THE RIBS KINGS, 8 - 1....
The Patriots suffered quite possibly the worst lost of the season at the hands of Montgomery Inn Thursday night by a score of 8 - 1.
This game was over by the third inning as Montgomery pushed 8 unanswered runs across the plate on 9 hits.
The Patriots, on the other hand were held to just 5 knocks on the night behind Montgomery's RHP Bill Pittman's knuckle-ball followed by relief pitcher Steve Imhoffs stellar approach.
3B Craig Gorman went 2-3 and that was about it. RHP Josh Bailey also threw two inings of scoreless ball for the Pats, but it was too little, too late.
They just flat out smoked us.
Cheviot takes on the Naturals tomorrow night @ 6:30 (Roselawn) for the final regular season game, so come on out and pull for the Pats!
