Note from Coaches - October 25, 2007

Hello again everyone!

Welcome to another year of Carroll swimming. I just wanted to let everyone know that we will be having a meeting on Monday November 29th and 7:00PM. It's in the cafeteria that nobody eats in (I can't remember if that's east or west). There will be order forms for suits and suits to try-on after the meeting. Also, if you don't already have them, we will be providing you with the necessary forms that you need to hand into the athletic department. Please hand in your forms right away. I can't let you start swimming until your physical form is on file with the athletic department.

Please make your appointment with your doctor so you can have these forms completed. If you know of any new people who are joining the team please let them know about the meeting. If you are unable to participate this year, please let me know so I don't keep bothering you with emails. Thanks! I can't wait to see you all next week!

Swim Team End of Season Party

Hello everyone!!!

Congratulations to all of you for swimming so well at championships last weekend. Thank you for an amazing season and I can't wait for next year! As per tradition, we are having an end of the season party for the swimmers, family, and friends. This year, our party will be held in the cafeteria at Carroll on March 18th at 4:30PM. This party is potluck. Please bring your favorite appetizers, main course, or dessert! If you plan on bringing some yummy food, please email me. If you're not sure what to bring, email and ask and I'll let you know what we need more of. I also have a case of water and a bottle of gatorade left over from the pasta party that I'll bring. We'll need some more drinks, plates, and plastic utensils. So, just pop me an email and let me know what you'd like to bring or find out what else we need and we'll have a great party. I'll bring big blue (our radio) for some entertainment. Remember to bring your families so we can all have a good time! I'll be talking to everyone soon.

Catholic League Email

Alright everyone, here's the deal for this weekend:

Saturday 3/3/2007 - at Widener University

Boys Preliminaries
Facility opens: 7:00AM, please be there by 7:15AM
Warmups: 7:30-8:45AM
Sprint lanes: 8:30AM
Coaches meeting: 8:45AM
Start time: 9:00AM

We need to provide two timers in lane 1 for the boys morning session. If there is more than two volunteers, you can split the time.

Girls Preliminaries
Warmups: directly following the end of the boys (approx. 12:30PM)
Start time: approx 1:45PM

Please be there no later than 12:30PM. Also, parking is sometimes a problem since the boys are leaving when you're coming, just a heads up. Also, you're not allowed to enter the pool area until the boys are finished. If for some reason the boys meet runs long and you're there, just wait outside the pool until they're finished.

We need to provide a runner for the girls afternoon session.
Again, if there are mutliple volunteers, you can split the time.

Sunday 3/4/2007 - at LaSalle University
Catholic League Finals - the top 18 swimmers in each event from Saturday swim in finals on Sunday. All "A" relays swim

Sunday
Pool opens: 9:00AM
Warmups: 9:15-10:15AM
Sprint lanes: 9:45AM
Senior recognition: 10:30AM
Meet Starts: 11:00AM

We will need to provide two timers for Lane 2 during finals.
Again, if there are extra volunteers you can split the time.
There will be quite a few of our swimmers that will be participating on Sunday. Even if you did not qualify in the top 18 to swim again on Sunday, I encourage you to come and cheer on your teammates. Sundays finals are fun and exciting so it would definitely be worth your while.
If you have any questions, please give me a call or send me an email. Remember, our pasta party is on Friday! Also, I'll be sending out directions to both Widener and LaSalle tonight.

Thanks!

Hello everyone,

I know we just got through National Catholics but Easterns are just around the corner. This meet takes place at LaSalle University. Below I listed the "suggested" qualifying times for Easterns. These time are just suggested so if I'm sending you this email chances are that even if you didn't qualify I want you to attend anyway. We will be sending an A and B relay for the girls medley and the girls 200 free relay. We will be sending A relays for the girls 400 free relay and the boys medley and 200 free relay. The top 18 finishers in each event make it back to finals. If you'd like to see past results, please go to www.woodswimming.org.

If you click on past years, at the bottom are links to easterns results on the right hand side.

So here are the details. The meet takes place on Friday February 23 and Saturday February 24. On Friday the 23rd warmups are at 6:00AM and the meet begins at 8:00AM. The events swum at prelims on friday are the following: 200 Medley Relay, 200 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 100 fly, and 200 free relay in that order. In the 200 free and 200IM the six fastest heats will run first and any remaining heats will run at the end. Finals for this portion of the meet will take place on friday night. Warmups are at 4:00PM and finals begin at 5:05PM.

The second half of the meet will be run on Saturday the 24th. The order of events is as follows: 100 free, 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast, and 400 free relay. For the boys, the five fastest heats of the 500 will be run first and any remaining will be run at the end of the meet. Warmups for the saturday session are at 6:00AM and the meet begins at 8:00AM. Finals for this portion of the meet will take place saturday night warmups being at 4:00PM and finals at 5:05PM.

Ok, so I know that was a lot of information but we'll go over it again. If you're receiving this email, please come and speak to me. We will talk about the possibility of you swimming in the meet and what events you would want to swim.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Also, if we decide you will be attending this meet, I will notify Carroll and you will be receiving permission forms to get signed. You must get your permission forms signed by ALL of your teachers as well as your parents. Your teachers and parents have the option of not allowing you to attend this meet since you would be missing a day of school.

Hello everyone! There are many congratulations that need to go out this week. Congrats to the boys on their win against Valley Forge last week! As always, you amaze me when you swim valley forge. They dropped chunks of seconds in their races and swam some wonderful times! Also, congratulations to the girls for their win against St. Hubert's tonight. I'm not sure if you all know this but this is the first time Carroll has beaten St. Huberts in 7 years! Every single girl swam perfect tonight! Everyone bettered their times and swam some amazing races. It was a really exciting meet and you all really owe yourselves a pat on the back! So girls, huge congrats to you tonight, enjoy it! I can't tell all of you, boys and girls, how proud I am of you. You all swam your hardest and your hearts out this week!
