CALIFORNIA THUNDER SOFTBALL ORGANIZATION
Welcome to the California Thunder 16U website!!!
The CALIFORNIA THUNDER is a highly competitive TRAVEL BALL ORGANIZATION. We have two strong 18 GOLD team competing and preparing for the 2008 SUMMER RECRUITING AND ASA QUALIFYING season as well as oNE 14 u team AND A NEWLY FORMED AND HIGHLY COMPETITIVE 12 u TEAM. We offer a large and talented group of players who are striving for success academically and athletically with goals to play softball in college. Our focus is on skill development that will help our athletes succeed at the next level. Our season includes several 16u SHOWCASE TOURNAMENTS to provide the players with the MAXIMUM EXPOSURE to display their talents and assist them in meeting their goals.
Our 2008 Summer Showcase schedule will include: all major showcases... Batbusters Surf City Summer Kickoff Showcase, LAS VEGAS JO CLASSIC, AND SURF CITY SUMMER SHOWCASE while also making a run at qualifying for ASA Nationals and AFA Nationals. We are already qualified for the USSSA World Series in Florida.
THE CALIFORNIA THUNDER ORGANIZATION is a 501(C)3 NON-PROFIT YOUTH BASEBALL and SOFTBALL ORGANIZATION that has two competitive teams at the 18 GOLD level, coached by VAN KIRK-Levier and Joe Vargas, and one in the 14U division (Flores), with a new 12U team (Chavez) which is developing into a competitive team.
Our coaching staff provides an ASA ALL-AMERICAN female coach in VALERIE VAN KIRK-LeVIER (CAL STATE FULLERTON)with over 30 YEARS of experience in ASA, NCAA DIV. I, and the PROFESSIONAL LEVEL. We have coaches that are FORMER PLAYERS of the game and have been COLLEGIATE STANDOUTS or ASA All-Americans and more.

California Thunder a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization
Our mission is to lead in the education, development, and promotion of the sports of baseball and softball for boys and girls 18 years of age and younger. The corporation will provide competition at the local, state, national, and international level, providing qualified training, coaching, and equipment to encourage the growth of both sports. Our goal is to assist and market the athletes to the college recruiting process and requirements, to provide exposure to college recruiters for potential scholarship. The corporation will develop disciplie and good sportsmanship while encouraging education, thus aiding in the reduction of potential juvenile delinquency.
California Thunder Baseball and Softball Corporation is organized for the following purposes:
1. To organize and conduct extensive weekly training sessions to improve the performance of groups of outstanding athletes that have demonstrated a level of talent and achievement. The training sessions will be conducted by a qualified volunteer coaching staff.
2. To organize, coordinate, and support inter-team competition with other baseball and softball organizations. These games are arranged through tournaments offered by organizations such as the Amateur Softball Association and the Continental Amateur Baseball Association. Such tournaments will qualify the teams to play at National Championships.
3. To promote the sport of baseball and softball in Southern California, generally, and to raise the level of awareness of both sports by recruiting players for the organization. To introduce the athletes to the nationwide educational opportunities available at the collegiate level through the sports of baseball and softball by participating in college recruiting showcases that expose the athletes to the college recruiters in their sport.
