!!!!!!GREAT SEASON ENDS WITH SECTIONAL LOSS!!!!!!!
The Lady Knight's great run, ended on Saturday at the Colfax Sectional Championship Game. Ashley Elliott struck out 9 Vikings while allowing 4 earned runs. It was a well played game by both squads, and the girls have nothing to feel sorry about, they played their hearts out and proved that Blue Ridge Softball is something special. The Knights had runners on in 5 innings, but could not plate any of them. Chelsea Reynolds had the big hit of the day for the Knights with a rocket off the top of the fencing in leftfield. Hannah Bowen got a hit, as Jordyn Fones and Haley Atwell got on via an error. The 4-0 loss was much closer than it seems, as all the runs were scored with 2 outs and scored on two bloop hits over the infield. It was a great game, as the Knight's season ended at 22-13. Back to Back 20 win seasons is something to be proud of.
At the beginning of the season, we took a poll and asked, "How many wins will the team have in 2008?"......The results showed that only 8% thought the team would finish 22 or better. Which means, 92% of the pollsters were wrong. Thanks to hard work and great effort the team did more than expected.

KNIGHTS SLAY THE DRAGONS
The Lady Knights again overcame a 1-0 deficet to capture a 2-1 win in the sectional semi-final against the Grant Park Dragons on Thursday afternoon at the Ridgeview Sectional. The Dragons took an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning on an error and a base hit. The Knights knotted the score at one in the 4th, on a lead off walk to Eckhoff, a single by Bowen and an RBI single by Enger. Ashley Elliott continued to mow down the opponents, even though they had runners at second or third in the final 4 innings. Elliott's heroics was at the plate, as she led off the bottom of the 7th with a single and advanced to second on an error. Stef Davis replaced Elliott on the bases, before Riggs moved her to third on a misplayed grounder to second. Jordyn Fones was intentionally walked to load the bases, before Parker Eckhoff delivered the game winner on a hit into the hole to the right side. The Knights raised their season mark to 22-12 and 16-4 against 1A teams with the win. They play HOI foe Tri-Valley on Saturday at 11AM at Colfax for the sectional title. Go Knights!!!!!!
LADY KNIGHTS....IHSA REGIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!!!
The Lady Knights overcame a 5-0 lead by the Mustangs in the 5th inning by plating 5 runs on 6 hits to knot the game. In the 7th, Hannah Bowen scored the game winner due to a throwing error. Bowen plated 2 runs on the day, while having 4 hits, Haley Atwell had 2 hits and scored once. Additional runs were provided by Allison Riggs, Jordyn Fones, and Marcie Crawford running for Elliott. Parker Eckhoff provided 2 RBIs, Watts one, and Reynolds one. Ashley Elliott got her 19th mound victory on the season, as she struck out 7 Mustangs.
The Lady Knights now play Grant Park on Thursday at 4:30pm in the Ridgeview Sectional at Colfax. They will be joined in sectional play with Gardner and Tri-Valley. The Knights' record now stands at 21-12 on the season.

Concession Stand Thank You
We had a successful year in concession sales. Concession sales came to $1383.21 and expenses were $501.52 leaving a profit of $881.69 (details can be found in the document in the Handout tab). This money goes towards the softball program. Some of the expenses that were covered included concession supplies, Senior Day gifts for the Seniors and purchasing food for Senior Day.
This profit was due to the hard work and support of all the parents. So a huge thank you to all the parents for their help as well as drink and food donations for concessions this year. Without your help and donations this would not have been possible. Everyone did a great job.
