Drew Tate
|

Former East League and Lee Gander Player. Drew is most notable for being a record setting High School Quarterback and his many Texas High School Football Records. He was also a four year player for the Lee Baseball team as well. Drew now attends The University of Iowa where he plays football for the Hawkeyes. Tate had a great 2004 season for the University of Iowa. Drew, quarterbacking the Hawkeyes, led them to a Big Ten Co-Championship and a thrilling last play victory over LSU in the Capitol One Bowl on New Years Day. That play was voted as possibly the best play in Iowa Football's 115 year history by the Iowa Alumni. Drew's year on the field was rewarded with being named as CollegeFootballNews.com's Big Ten "Player of the year" and Big Ten "Offensive player of the year" as well as being picked as one of the top 25 "Stars of 2005" for next season. Josh Ford

Former Baytown East and Lee Gander Player. While at Lee Josh's career average was .452 with 34 HRs and 165 RBIs, he was 1st team All-State 3 times and was District MVP as a junior. He now attends Baylor University and plays baseball for the Baylor Bears. Josh also plays in the Cape Cod League where he helped Wareham to the league title during the Summer of 2002. Kade Johnson

Former East League and Sterling Player. After High School, Kade was drafted in the second round of the MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. He now plays for the Brewers AA Minor League "Huntsville Stars". 2002 numbers: .276 AVG,.341 OB%,.512 SLG%,34 Hits,8 Dbls,3 Tpls,5 HRs in 123 at bats.

Was a member of the 1988 District 14 10 Year Old Allstar Champions – Played for the major league Giants coached by Dewey Fuller - Was a 1996 1st team unanimous 22-5A All District selection as a pitcher during senior year at RSS - Compiled 7-0 record with 1.76 ERA while leading Rangers to Regional Quarterfinals -Hit .350 while playing third base and first base – Three time All Tournament including Baytown Umpires Tournament MVP that included wins over teams with current pro players Adam Dunn(New Caney HS), Brandon Backe(Galveston Ball HS) ,and Clint Stoerner(Lee High School). Rangers finished 22-5 while losing to the Class 5A State semi-finalist Clear Creek Wildcats – Was a four year starter for Houston Baptist University- Played first base and pitcher – Holds school record of 4 Homeruns in a game and 16 total bases– Third all time in school history in total hits, doubles, rbi’s,ab’s and homeruns – Ranks 17th in all time batting average with .339 clip – Named to 1999 NAIA All-American Team – 1998 HBU offensive player of the year

Ben Cox

Former East League and Sterling Ranger baseball player. Ben won 3 City Championships while at East League before becoming a 3 year Letterman in baseball at Sterling. Ben played for the Gators of San Jacinto in 2002-2003 helping guide the Gators to a 2nd place finish in the Junior College World Series in June of 2003. Ben pitched 35 innings with an ERA of 2.35 while at San Jacinto prompting the San Diego Padres to draft him in the 30th round of the Major League draft. Ben attended Lamar University in 2003-2004 school year; helping the Lamar Cardinals win the Southland Conference Title, and advancing to the NCCAA Regional Playoffs. In June 2004, Ben was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 19th Round. He played short season A-ball in Burlington, Vermont, where he pitched 33 innings, ending up with 2.97 ERA, with 38 strikeouts, 2 wins and 3 saves, with his fast ball reaching 98 mph. These stats and his performance earned him “Best Pro Debut” for the Montreal Expos. Ben now plays for the new “Washington Nationals” (previously the Montreal Expos) and after the 2005 Spring Training in Cocoa Beach, Florida he will report to his new home team for the 2005 Minor League Season.
After playing a full season in Savannah, Georgia, for the class Low A Nationals Affiliate, leaving with an 3.00 ERA pitching 63 innings with 51 strike outs. Ben was traded to the San Francisco Giants organization on the last day of the regular minor league season. He reported to the San Jose Giants, the High A Affiliate team. Along with his new teammates, they won the California League Championship. In late February, he will report to Scottsdale, Arizona for spring training.

Was a member of 1995 District 14 12 Year old Allstar Team -Played for coach Paul Tadlock at Baytown Sterling HS -Two-time all-district infielder -Served as team captain as a senior - Hit .375 and ranked among the team's leaders in runs scored and RBI - Set a school record with 13 doubles and had 11 stolen bases - Helped Sterling to the state playoffs -Named to the Houston area Class 5A all-star team -Hit .455 as a junior and received the team's Golden Glove Award -Also lettered in football as a receiver his junior year and as an all-district quarterback as a senior, passing for 1,234 yards and nine touchdowns. Played in 40 games at Lamar University in 2004, earning 30 starts Posted a .237 batting average with 22 runs scored, three doubles, a triple, two home runs and 14 RBI. 2003: Played in nine games at Mississippi State ... Hit .250 (1-for-4) with a run scored and three RBI.

Keith Hart

Former East League Player in the mid 80's. Keith played baseball for four years in high school where he was selected District Co-MVP in 94'. After High School, Keith played two years for Alvin Community College then moved on to Lubbock Christian University for two more seasons. As a Senior at LCU, Keith's numbers and accolades were impressive. Conference MVP,Region MVP,NAIA National Player of the year,Baseball America Small College Player of the year,Rawlings Small College Player of the year and won the NAIA Triple Crown. .511 AVG,138 Hits(NAIA Record),35 Doubles,10 Triples,31 HRs,121 RBIs,286 Total Bases(NAIA Record),1.059 Slg%(NAIA Record),.545 OB%. Keith led the nation in every offensive category except stolen bases. The Boston Red Sox drafted Keith where he played two seasons in the organization before back problems forced his untimely retirement

Received scholarship to McLennan where he played for two years Drafted in the 5th round by the Brewers along with former RSS teammate Kade Johnson (2nd Round) .

Played for the major league Texans coached by Mark Davis - Was a all district selection at RSS – Was a dominant pitcher from Little League through college. Received scholarship to Rice University where he played for four years for Coach Wayne Graham .Was clocked at 95 -97 MPH while at Rice. Also played third base and DH’d while at Rice, was a excellent hitter. Was drafted after Sr. season at Rice.
