Matrix 9U Black Team Starts Nationals on Tuesday
The Matrix 9U Black team coached by Liz Reed has arrived for the 9U Division I National Championship Tournament that takes place this week.
Opening ceremonies are on Monday and the team's first game is on Tuesday. Bracket play starts on Thursday. The 9U Black team is team B-1 in Pool B. Their pool play schedule is:
. Tuesday at 10:45 am vs. Texas Lady Heat
. Tuesday at 4:30 pm vs. Arkansas Mavericks
. Wednesday at 3:00 pm vs. Tennessee Team Pride
 The 9U Black team finished the Spring AAU season with a 24-10 record, including an 18-4 overall record within their age group. Highlights include wins against 9U teams from Philadelphia, PA, Staten Island, NY, and teams from across Maryland and Virginia. The Matrix 9s also went 6-6 playing up against 10U teams, with three of those losses coming by a combined 4 points, including one overtime loss.

Matrix Finish First Year of Districts With Two Medals; Matrix Earn Fifth Most Medals in District
In their first year participating in the highly competitive Potomac Valley AAU District Qualifying Tournaments ("DQTs"), Arlington Matrix AAU finished with the following two medals:
. 9U Black -- Bronze medal in D-I tournament
. 10U Black -- Silver medal in D-II tournament
These two medals put the Matrix in fifth place overall in the entire Potomac Valley District for the most medals earned for the 2008 DQTs. Congratulations to all our Matrix teams, but especially to Coach Garay's 10U Black team and Coach Reed's 9U Black team.
Check the Potomac Valley AAU Girls' Basketball website for the medal winners in all divisions and the medal count by club. In addition, the scores for all teams in all age divisions in the 17 separate DQTs for 2008 are on the website.
