Fall Softball Information

Click on the link for information related to fall softball.  We have made some changes to the way a team is formed and registered.  See below for general questions regarding fall softball.

2008 FALL SOFTBALL FAQ

What are the dates for fall softball? – The dates for fall softball this year are August 24, September 7, 14, 21, 28.  Fall softball games are played on Sunday afternoons to try to avoid conflicting with other fall sports players may be involved with.  Practices will be one or two times a week Monday – Thursday.

What age group will my daughter play? – The level your daughter is to play is determined by her age.  See the chart below to determine the level for your daughter

10U born in years 1998 and before

12U born in years 1996 and 1997

14U born in years 1994 and 1995

16U born in years 1992 and 1993

How much will it cost? – I can’t tell you exactly how much it will cost but the cost will probably range from $40-$60 for a 12 player team.  Players on the team will have to share the cost of the team registration fee, possibly some small additional costs for uniforms (which can be t-shirts) and a small team gate fee for the state tournament.

What is the format?  - This is traveling softball.  You will probably play all of your games outside of Woodbury.  All levels are player pitch.  10U has rules similar to 4th grade in-house, such has 5 runs max per inning.  For the first 4 dates you will play two games each Sunday.  The games will be back to back, against different teams.  For instance your first game will be at 12:00 and your second at 1:30 or your first game will be at 3:00 and your second at 4:30.  The games are 65 or 70 minutes long with no inning starting after the time limit.

Where do I get a uniform? – If you are on a team that has all like uniforms whether it is traveling or in-house you can use those uniforms.  If you are a team that needs uniforms you will have to get like t-shirts or uniforms it will be up to the team.

Do I have to sign up through WAA? – No you do not.  This year we are having teams formed by coaches.

What if I want to play, but I don’t know a coach? – Contact Kris Retica and she will do her best to find a team for you, but there are no guarantees.

If I want to coach what do I do?  Find 10 or 11 players who want to play with your daughter and then go to www.mmfl.net and go the fall information.  Complete the registration and send them a check.  You will need to get reimbursed by your team members.  If you have questions contact Kris Retica or Jim Reetz.
