Scorpions Team History

The Scorpions are a (`93:`94) boys travel soccer team playing full-sided 11v11 soccer for the Fairfax Police Youth Club (FPYC) soccer club. The Scorpions were originally begun and had played two seasons previously know as the Harriers of the Braddock Road Youth Club (BRYC). The Scorpions Team Manager is Cynthia Uber, while coaching responsibilities lie with Head Coach John Uber and Assistant Coach Eric Mills, both National-D licensed coaches. The nucleus of the Scorpions roster was established by advancing players from the BRYC Recreational League following the Fall 2005 season. With their initial Spring 2006 formation as an under-12 (U12B) soccer team, the Scorpions were admitted mid-year (over the Winter-break) into the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL) playing their inaugural season in the NCSL U12B Division 6 (as a just-admitted team) and returning again in the Fall 2006 season to play in NCSL U13B Division 6.

Scorpions Team Philosophy

The FPYC Scorpions (a returning U13B team now playing in ODSL Division 1 for the Spring 2007 season) provide an upbeat and relaxed training and playing environment that is committed to the long-term development of all rostered players. While always prioritizing the enjoyment of the game, the Scorpions roster is made up of players who are enthusiastic and dedicated, and above all interested in further developing their skills, sportsmanship and understanding of the game.

In preparation for the upcoming Fall 2007 season, the Scorpions will be holding near-weekly practice sessions for the remainder of the Spring 2007 season and on into the Summer of 2007. We are currently looking for a few additional "team-oriented" players and are willing to continue to evaluate players under pre-scheduled, closed try-outs conditions. Please email Scorpions Team Manager Cynthia Uber or telephone 703-994-0271 (cell), otherwise email Head Coach John Uber or similarly telephone 703-346-3210 (cell) to inquire about roster availability and/or request an opportunity to try-out.

Scorpions Spring 2007 Season

Prior to the ODSL Spring 2007 season, the Scorpions participated in the Prince William Soccer Incorporated (PWSI) IceBreaker Tournament over the weekend of 24-25 March 2007. Playing in less then ideal field conditions, the Scorpions finished preliminary play with a record of 0-3-0, and were unable to advance in the tournament.

ODSL Spring 2007 season is underway as U13B team in Division 1 of ODSL.

Subsequent to the ODSL Spring 2007 season, the Scorpions will participate in the TBD tournament over the weekend of TBD June.

Harriers Fall 2006 Season

Prior to the NCSL Fall 2006 season, the Harriers participated in the Olney Boys & Girls Club (OBGC) Washington Classic Tournament over the weekend of 24-25 August 2006. Placed in an overly competitive bracket with scheduled games against all NCSL Div 2 caliber teams, the Harriers finished preliminary play with a record of 0-3-0, and were unable to advance in the tournament.

NCSL Fall 2006 season was even more successful then their inaugural season, finishing with a winning 5-4-0 record. The Harriers completed their second season with 21 goals scored and 15 goals allowed, narrowly missing a second-place finish in the NCSL U13B Sixth Division. Unfortunately, even the successful completion of a winning season left the Harriers to finish sixth out of ten teams and causing us to go out to play ODSL for the upcoming Spring 2006 season as a return U13B team.

Subsequent to the NCSL Fall 2006 season, the Harriers participated in the Fauquier County Soccer Association's Hunt Country Classic Tournament held over the weekend of 23-24 November 2006. Finishing preliminary play with a record of 2-0-1, the Harriers advanced to the Championship game and won the tournament with a 2-1 victory.

Harriers Spring 2006 Season

Prior to the NCSL Spring 2006 season, the Harriers participated in the Stafford Area Soccer Association (SASA) 12th annual St. Patrick's Day Tournament over the weekend of 18-19 March 2006. Finishing preliminary play with a record of 2-1-0, the Harriers advanced to the Championship game and won the tournament with a 3-0 victory.

NCSL Spring 2006 season started very well for the Harriers, going undefeated in their first five games, but were unable to secure a win in their final four games to finish their inaugural season with a 4-4-1 record. The Harriers also completed their first season with 18 goals scored and 16 goals allowed, narrowly missing a second-place finish in the NCSL U12B Sixth Division. But the successful completion of a 500 season allowed the Harriers to remain in NCSL to again play in Div 6 during the upcoming Fall 2006 season as a rising U13B team.

Subsequent to the NCSL Spring 2006 season, the Harriers participated in the BRYC-sponsored 2nd annual Al Dougherty Memorial Tournament held over the Father's Day weekend of 17-18 June 2006. Finishing preliminary play with a record of 1-1-1, the Harriers were unable to advance to the Championship game.
