Teaming Equals Added Motivation

A training/social group open to all who are motivated about getting into shape, and participating in local endurance running events. The group was formed because training with a group is more enjoyable and you are more likely to stay with your program than if training solo.

The goals of Team NorthShore are:
To mentor the novice or first time individual to step out of their comfort zone of fitness and try something new. We will help you develop a training program to accomplish your goals and help you find other individuals in the community to workout with.
Take the experienced athlete to their next performance level by providing, training partners, help in designing training programs and coaching to improve technique.

Open to all – Residents and Non-Residents of the ChicagoLand NorthShore area. Come run with us you don't have to be a member. Evanston Running Club, come run with us because we will be running with you!

Training Programs, Activities and Current Club Group Run Schedule:

Sunday MORNING RUN Currently a fun run, although this run also can be used for race training or speed training, anyone can join us! Those showing up to run will plan the distance and route, with optional breakfast or coffee after. Runners in these qroup runs cover a wide range of abilities and distances. Newcomers are welcome, and there will usually be someone running near your pace and distance.

SATURDAY MORNING MENTORING GROUP RUNS (101 RUNNING) WITH EDUCATIONAL CLINICS Mentoring Program every Saturday. Meet at The GrossPoint Cafe located at Ridge & Wilmette, at 8 AM for group runs. After each training run, wrap up and warm up at The GrossPoint Cafe where you will have additional opportunities to ask questions and get to know fellow runners. Bring a friend; there is no cost to the mentoring program!

Group Training Sessions: Goals developed specifically for going the distance in The March Madness 1/2 Marathon in Cary IL, The Chicago’s Shamrock Shuffle 8K, Univeral Sole Lakefront 10-mile in April, Soldier Field 10-mile in May, The Chicago Distance Classic 1/2 Marathon in August, and the Chicago & other Fall Marathons.

Professionally Coached Up Hill Interval Training: Starts Wednesday April 30th and continues for six weeks. See Calendar for details. There is no cost to this training.

Professionally Coached Track Interval Training: Starts Wednesday June 11th and continues to October 8th. There is no cost to this training.

Professionally Coached Marathon Training Program: Begins 18 to 20 weeks before YOUR MARATHON and ends with a 10K race 4-6 weeks after YOUR MARATHON. A new benefit to members of Team NorthShore

If you can't find a time to run at the times above try The Evanston Running Club. Team NorthShore members - you can participate in any Evanston Running Club Run, even their track workouts however there is a small seasonal fee, you do not need to be a member of The Evanston Running Club. Members of The Evanston Running Club You can run with Team NorthShore. Any of our Runs, including the Track or Hill workouts. No charge and you don't have to become a member of our club. Tuesday, July 29
The New Trier High School Winnetka Campus Outdoor Track is closed for resurfacing.
The NT outdoor track continues to be closed. The scheduled reopening is on or about 8/13.
Until then we will continue to meet at the Plaza del Largo Starbucks at 5:50 AM. We will run out and back north off road on Sheridan.

The Wednesday's workout will be a structured fartlek; short, long or mixed intervals.

The Friday workout will be a Tempo Run, 20 - 40 minutes of max. lactate steady state pace sandwiched between a slow 10-minute warm up and 10-minute cool down.

Both workout will continue to be coached.


Saturday, July 5
WEATHER POLICY:

We will run in the rain, but we will not run if lightening is present.
If the run has not yet started, we will wait a reasonable amount of time to determine if the bad weather will pass, or if the run should be canceled. If lightening occurs during a run, seek shelter, such as an underpass or building. Stay away from open areas or trees.

We will run in hot weather. However, the pace will be slower and there will be more frequent water stops on those runs. If the heat is severe, the run distance may be shortened.

Take care of each other! Be alert for signs of heat related illnesses (lightheadedness, cramps, headache, chills, lack of sweat, red complexion). If any symptoms occur, notify your group leader immediately. It may be necessary to quit for that day.
