Paul McCarthy Honored

Paul McCarthy honored by Stoneham Little League after winning the Town Championship.
On June 23, 2007 Stoneham Little League held its annual major league championship game. The White Sox managed by Paul McCarthy defeated the Phillies in a hard fought series to win the town Championship.Immediately following the game Stoneham Little League paid tribute to Paul McCarthy by announcing that Beacon Field at the East School Park will now be recognized by Stoneham Little League as Paul McCarthy Field. Paul McCarthy, a Vietnam Veteran, has been a huge part of Stoneham Little League the past25 years. He had his own kids play in the Stoneham Little League and long after they left the organization, Paul stayed and continued coaching. Paul has been an active member of the Stoneham Little League Board of Directors. Mr. McCarthy's efforts are most evident in the countless numbers of hours he volunteers. From running the concession stand at the field, to single handedly maintaining and grooming the playing fields to coaching a team during the little league season and coaching a separate summer league team, McCarthy truly does it all. With out his countless hours of volunteering Stoneham Little League would never enjoy the success it has all these years. Paul McCarthy is a winner and the Town of Stoneham and Stoneham Little League are winners because of him and all his efforts. The White Sox picture can be seen at the top left hand side of the web site. The picture of the new sign for the Paul McCarthy Field can be seen in the Album Section of the web site under the 2007 Season. You can also click here http://www.townonline.com/stoneham/sports/x425957068 to read more about Paul in the Stoneham Sun newspaper coaching the All Star team.
