Player Tryout Form

Saturday, August 5
Titans Eliminated in Extra Innings by Dupage Diamondbacks!
Wow! I don't know where to begin it was such a great game.
Bret pitched a 7 inning gem against a great hitting team. He allowed 5 runs, but 3 of them were on a foul ball that was ruled a home run. Bret also recored 12 strike outs.

The Titans took the lead in the top of the second 1 to 0.
Dupage came back and took the lead with a 3 run homer that we were 100% sure was a foul ball. I was sitting out along the right field fence and thought that there wasn't even a question that it was foul.
In the top of the 5th Joel beat out an infield blooper and then Jacob Mann hit a home run to straight away center to tie the game up at 3's. Derek followed with a base hit down the left field line. Austin bunted to move the runners up and then Mark came through win a 2 run single to give the Titans a 5 to 3 lead.

Dupage fought their way back and tied it up in the bottom of the 7th. The bases were loaded with two outs. Bret had the count at 3 balls and 1 stike and all looked lost. From then on he through only strikes. The batter fouled off 3 or 4 pitches before Bret struck him out looking to end the inning! It was amazing. We had drawn a crowd of people from other teams (including DOW and the Cannons of Washington) and locals that just come to watch the tournament and everyone was on the edge of their seats.

In the top of the eigth Bret stepped up and hit a single to start off the inning. Mark stepped up and hit a huge double (that we thought was out of the park, but it somehow stayed in.) that scored the runner from first. We were ahead 6 to 5.

Bret had pitched maximum innings and Corey came in to replace him. He struck the first batter out. We then committed and error, walked a batter, hit a batter and then Dupage came up with the winning hit to end the game.

The boys had a great run at the World Series and finished fourth. Not bad for a tournament that started with 48 teams. I know I did not mention many individual players so let me say here that they all played very well. They all contributed to the success of this team throughout the year and throught this tournament. The competition was very good and they proved they could play with anyone, anytime, anywhere and really could have won it all. As Coach Doug sometimes says "It gave me goose bumps!"

Dupage went on to Beat Maryland 11 to 4 to advance to the finals against Team Indiana, who has yet to lose a game in the Tournament. (This could just as easily have been the Titans.)

(We and many many others were happy to see Bergen Beach, New York lose out the tournament at the same time we were playing Dupage. The team of All-Stars from around the country was very good, but they reminded us of the Yankees trying to buy the tournament by bringing in new players throughout the tournament. They were the favorites to win, but clearly not popular with anyone.)

Titans win with combination of defense, pitching and offense
The Titans are one of the final six teams left in the tournament.

This was truly a great game for the Titans. Teddy Bear came up big with 5 innings pitched and only two runs allowed. Orland had bases loaded a couple of times and runners on third and first a couple of times and he only allowed 2 runs. Kyle came in the 6th and had two great innings. We had a huge double play with runners on 1st and 3rd to get out of the sixth inning. Trevor also stepped up and played catcher with Paul out with a broken ankle. He threw out the only runner that they sent.

Orland Park Sparks went up one to zero in the bottom of the first. We came back and tied it up in the bottom of the third. The Titans went ahead two to one in the bottom of the 4th. Orland came back and tied it up in the top of five. We then broke it loose in the bottom of the 5th and went up 6 to 2. The Titans recorded 12 hits in this game.

The Orland team was very good. They picked off 5 of our base runners. They had a lefty on the mound with an unbelievable move (Bret status move) to first base. Their outfielder were shooting BB's back into the infield.

It was a great game and a great win for the Titans.

Titans come alive in win over Solon OH Diamond Boys
The Titans bats came alive in the 18 to 5 win over the Diamond Boys from Ohio. They used 6 or 7 pitchers trying to find one that could stop our hitters, but after scoring 5 runs in the first inning we just kept on hitting. I think there pitching was pretty good, but they just caught us at a time when our bats exploded.
Kyle pitched 3 innings giving up a couple of runs and Austin came in and finished it out.

Unfortunately we lost Paul for the rest of the tourny, we believe. In the last inning there was a play at home and Paul twisted his ankle in the collision at home. He is at the hospital now for X-rays so we'll know more later.

We don't know who we will be playing so more updates to come.

Thursday, August 3
Titans Lose to Bergen Beach
Bergen Beach came to play. This team of All-Stars from across the country really looked great in their win over us today. They had two home runs in the 1st inning and about 7 runs before we recorded our first out. They had another home run in the 2nd inning.
The game only lasted 3 1/2 innings before we were 12 runned. The only highlights in the game for the Titans were a couple of base hits and Corey came in the bottom of the 3rd and threw only curve balls, which Bergen Beach couldn't hit. Hopefully we will get another chance at them and see what happens. This, of course, would be in the championship game so we have some work to do to and a lot of good teams to beat before we get that second chance.
At 11:00 AM tomorrow we will play the loser of the Puerto Rico Macetero, Solon OH Diamond Boys game that is being played right now. Both teams look strong so we will need to have a great game to continue moving on.

Titans beat DOW in a nail biter!
The Titans prevail in a shootout with DOW!
This game was filled with lightning and rain delays.
We started this game last night at 5:00 and ran into a lightning delay. We waited for two hours before they finally called it for the night.
The Titans started out the game with two runs and DOW came back in the bottom of the 2nd to tie it up. DOW went ahead 3 - 2 in the 3rd inning before we finally retired the side. In the top of the 4th we had runners on 1st and 3rd with two outs and Jaykob Sells stepped up to bat. The lightning alarm sounded and we all had to go to our cars. Then the game was called and reschduled for 8:00 am this morning.
We woke up to rain, but we were playing on a turf field and went ahead with the game anyway.
Jaykob Sells had 12 hours to think about this at bat and he came through with a hit that scored two and put the Titans up 4 to 3. We then scored another one and the inning ended with a 5 to 3 lead. DOW came back and took the lead 6 - 5 with a three run homer in the bottom of 5. They held us in the 6th. We came back in the top of the 7th and tied it up. Then with the help of a couple errors we went ahead and closed out the game 9 - 6. There was another rain delay in there somewhere this morning, but it all gets jumbled up. Anyway we advance to play Bergen Beach New York (Tournament Favorites) this afternoon.

During the delay last night many of the DOW and Titan players were standing around and talking with one another and were playing "fliers up" together. It was great to see the two teams having fun together.

Wednesday, August 2
Titans win their pool and earn a bye in the 1st round of the double elimination bracket.
The Titans went 4 and 1 in pool play and earned the number one spot in their pool. We received a bye in the first round.

DOW baseball from Washington beat the Cincy Flames to advance and play us in the second round. Wouldn't you know it we travel all the way to Chicago to play a tema we've played about 8 times this season!

DOW is leading 3-2 over the Titans in the top of the 4th when the game was suspended due to lightning. the game will be resumed tomorrow at 8:00 AM. In the top of the 4th we have runners on 1st and 3rd with two outs and Jaykob Sells will be up to bat when the game resumes. We could play 3 games tomorrow depending upon how everything works out. I will update more tomorrow.

Another note. All three Washington teams advanced to the Championship bracket. Unfortunately we are all on the same side of the bracket and will have to eliminate each other to advance.

Titans take first loss in pool play to go 4 - 1
The Titans almost jhad another great comeback, but just fell short 5 - 6 against the McHenry Cobras. Our pitchers Kyle and Bret pitched a great game, there were no earned runs as the defense struggled throughout the game. The boys did mount a comeback in the bottom of the 7th. They were down 6 to 2 and made it close leaving the tying run on 3rd base. The Cobras played a great game making very few errors and coming up with some clutch hits to take the game from the Titans.

Monday, July 31
Titans Win vs. Cedar Rapids
Once again the Titans started out behind in this game. Cedar Rapids catcher hit a two run homer off to go up 2 - 0 in the bottom half of the first. The Titans got busy in the second inning and scored 8 runs. Jaykob Sells pitched 5 innings to close out the game for an 11 - 6 win and to improve to 4 - 0 in pool play.
It is 92 degrees at 10:30. It's going to be a scorcher today and we're lucky not to have to play until 8:00 PM tonight.

One fun thing I have forgot to mention. Crystal Lake provides each team with a bat boy. Our bat boy Dave, 12 years old, has been a blast to have around. Doug brought a Titan T-Shirt and hat for him so he matches our team. The Titans are really enjoying having him around and he is working hard getting the bats and other gear for the boys throughout the game. His whole family has adopted our team and havebeen coming out and supporting our team at every game.

Sunday, July 30
Titans win two more to go 3 - 0
The Titans had two come from behind wins to go three and 0, so far, in pool play.
In the morning game the Titans were down 2 to 8 going into the 6th. We then scored 5 runs in the 6th to get the game within one run. In the 7th we got Chaz to 3rd and the pitcher balked him in to tie the game and then we scored two more to go ahead 10 to 8. We shut them down in the bottom half of the inning to close out the game.

In game 2 we went down 3 to 0 until the 5th inning where we exploded for 6 runs. In the 6th run we tacked on one more. Mark pitched a complete game. He got better and better as the game went on and dominated in the last three innings. Trevor also had three doubles one of which started the 6 run 5th inning.

Saturday, July 29
Titans Win Opening Game in CABA World Series Pool Play
Bret, Kyle and Austin combined for a 2 hit shutout against the Streamwood Bulldogs. The Titans scored early going up 3 - 0 in the first inning. Corey had 2 RBIs and Jacob Mann had one RBI to get things going. The next inning we had two outs on two pitches before Jaykob Sells walked, Bret walked and Joel hit a 2 RBI double. Our pitchers were really on their game. They only allowed 2 hits and very few walks.
The defense also made the plays. Austin had two great plays deep in the whole between short and third and Chaz and Corey also made plays on the few balls that were put into play.
Tomorrow we have the Delaware Angels at 8:00 AM and then the Downers Grove Longshoots at 2:00.

Memorial Day Tourny Update 5-28-06 11:00 AM
Titans,

Please see the schedule for Sunday. They moved our game back to 6:00, hopefully. Our suspended game will be finished on Monday morning at 9:00. This rain will stop as this is the back edge of the weather system, it is just a matter of time. Please check your email today for last minute changes. Plan on being at the field by 5:00 wearing white mesh.

Doug

2005 USABA World Series Tournament
NOW THAT'S TITAN BASEBALL
I would like to thank all the Titan players for all their hard work and dedication it took to battle to the top. Each and everyone of you played great in the heat and kept your composer. Babe Ruth once said its hard to beat a team that never quits. Again we received so many complements from coaches, umpires, kids and parents from other teams. So walk tall and be proud of who you are, and the uniform you wear because you are the TITANS
Coach Dewayne

Dominican Republic Tournament
Here is what we have planned for the Dominican tournament.
On August 11th the Dominicans will be playing an exhibition game at the South Park Community Center in south Seattle. The local Latin community will be making food for everyone and the Dominican Consulate will be flying in to attend, we are also lining up some Mariner and Angel players to attend. We will have our coaches meeting and all of the players at this function as a kickoff to the tourney.

The tourney will start on Friday at Meadowdale High School and Mountlake Terrace High School.
We have 6 teams in the tournament:

Dominican Republic
Spokland Yard Dawgs
Seattle Titans
Kent Cannons
San Francisco
Seattle Bombers

All teams will play everyone once. After the pod play the #1 seed will play #2, 3 plays 4 and 5 plays 6. 6 games of baseball in 3 days. This is a celebration of baseball where the teams will bat the roster and unlimited subs except for pitching.

On Monday the 15th we have approached the KC Royals and the Mariners and they have agreed to pay for what we think is 150 seats to the Mariner game on Monday. We would like all of the teams to sit together in uniform and represent their teams and have a blast at the game. We should get some TV time as KOMO is making a documentary about the Dominicans trip here from the minute the plane lands to the time they leave.

I am having medals made up for all players to have a token to remember what should be an awesome experience for all.

Our goal from the start was to show how much fun baseball in the northwest can be. We want to spread the friendship to the Dominicans and make this an annual event.
Coach Doug

Cannons Win Koufax State Tournament
The Cannons beat the Stars 2-1 in 8 innings to win the Koufax State Championship 7/12/2005

State & Oklahoma
Titans,

No rest for the Titans. Awesome tournament Titans. That was great Titan baseball, but now it is time to jump right back into the fire. Things are happening fast. I just found out that the state tournament starts Friday at 11:00 in the morning in Kent. Seed 4 plays seed 5 at 11:00, seed 3 plays seed 6 at 2:00. Right now we are seed 4 but there is a good chance we will be seed 3. We are trying to get a field for Tuesday practice, I will let you know. We have a state tournament meeting Wednesday night in Woodinville.

Oklahoma tournament stuff is happening fast also. I just found out that it costs $10 a day to enter the park for fans, or you can purchase a tournament pass for $30 for adults and $20 for kids. Players and coaches are free.

I will keep you posted often so check your e-mail.

Thanks,
Doug

Stuff
Hey Titans,

Well I guess our permit expired for Cedar way, so there will be no more basketball practices. We have 3 games remaining. We play at 4:40 at Meadowdale this Sunday. We just received the word that we will play a make up game on Tuesday the 9th at ABGC to make up for that 1st game we missed. That game will start at 6:30, and we will play the Hoops Club. Then we play on the 14th at 4:40 at Meadowdale. That will end our season. There will be a tournament at the end of the season but I don't think we will play in it because it starts during our first baseball tournament. Baseball is more important than basketball.
We have infield every Friday starting this Friday at Chase Lake from 6:00-8:00, we have hitting every Monday at Maynards from 8:00-9:00. We have BTMS baseball field from 3:00-6:00 starting this Saturday and we have E-4 from 3:00 until dark starting March 13th.
Hats and shirts have been ordered and will be ready soon. I will make up individual bills for everyone. I will pay for everything out of the Titan fund and everyone can write checks out to the Titans.

That is all for now,
Doug
