SEPTEMBER BOARD MEETING - 2009 BOARD ELECTIONS
The next Board meeting is Sunday, September 14th at Desert Sky Middle School. The meeting will occur in two parts.
Part 1 - Board Elections @ 1:00pm at Desert Sky Those interested in being on the Board for the 2009 Season are encouraged to attend to be placed on the ballot. If you cannot attend this meeting but are interested in being placed on the ballot, please email RinconBaseball@Yahoo.com. All League parents and volunteers are eligible to vote for the Board by attending this part of the meeting.
Part 2 - First Board Meeting of the 2009 Board @ 3:00 at Desert Sky Those elected to the 2009 Board will then hold the first meeting of the year. One of the first items of business will be to fill various positions on the Board. Descriptions of some of those positions are below. President
- Oversees the affairs of all elements of the League.
- As chief administrator, selects and appoints all managers, coaches, umpires and committees (subject to the approval of the Board).
- Officer with whom Little League Headquarters maintains contact.
- Represents the League in the District organization. This includes attendance at all district Meetings, etc.
- Strives to have firsthand knowledge of the regulations under which Little League operates.
- Authorizes the annual application for charter, and binds all members of the League to faithfully observe the regulations.
- Takes an active role in gaining support and winning friends for the league program.
- Presides at all League meetings, and assumes full responsibility for the operation of the League.
- Receives all mail, supplies and other communications from the Little League Headquarters, and the District.
Vice President
- Presides in the absence of the President.
- Coordinates efforts of other committee members.
- Carries out such duties and assignments as may be delegated by the President.
Secretary
- Maintains a register of members and directors.
- Records the minutes of meetings.
- Responsible for sending out notice of meetings.
- Maintains a record of league's activities.
Treasurer
- Signs checks as directed by league constitution.
- Dispenses League funds as approved by Board of Directors.
- Reports on status of League funds.
- Keeps League books and financial records.
- Assumes responsibility for all League finances.
Player Agent
- Conducts annual player tryouts.
- Responsible for player selection and placement including drafts and player movement.
- Responsible for checking birth records and eligibility of all players.
- Supervises and coordinates the transfer of players between Leagues, either up or down in age.
Safety Officer
- Act as, or oversee activities of, Lion's club Liaison.
- Coordinates all safety activities including supervision of ASAP (A Safety Awareness Plan).
- Ensures safety in player training.
- Ensures safe playing conditions.
- Coordinates reporting and prevention of injuries.
- Solicits suggestions for making conditions safer.
- Reports suggestions to Little League Headquarters through the ASAP program.
Information Officer
- Manages the League's official website.
- Ensures that league rosters are maintained on the Little League data center.
- Ensures that League news and scores are updated on a regular basis.
- Collects, posts and distributes important information on League activities to Little League Baseball, district, public, league members and media.
General Board Members - It is common and strongly encouraged that General Board Members lead a committee or contribute in various other roles that the League needs. For example:
- Equipment Manger
- Snack Bar
- Fundraising/Sponsorship
- Uniforms
- Team Pictures and End of Season Awards
- Etc.
FALL BALL - UNDERWAY
Practices have begun for our six Fall Ball teams. Games begin in mid-September, pending completion of the game schedule by District 12.
