            We are looking for players who have a genuine love of the game and a passion to play that is beyond compare and, at the same time, players who have the desire to compete at the highest level possible in the ASA Junior Olympic ranks – that being, 18-and-Under ASA Gold.  The key word being “compete” we are always looking for competitors.  Although, because of the program’s reputation, few teams receive more visibility or exposure during the course of the Fall and Summer campaigns, this is not a “showcase” team per se.  This team is a team which is put together each and every year with the idea of competing for the ASA GOLD National Championship and, at the very least, a Top 10 finish at ASA GOLD Nationals.

Our Players from 2008 last year were recruited by Rutgers Maine, Stony Brook, RIC, URI,  Mercy & Bloomfield College.  This year our players are being heavily recruited by most top schools including Cornell, Harvard, URI, Providence, Rutgers, Villanova, Yale, Dartmouth, Weselyan, St John, U Albany, Uconn, Drexel, Monmouth, Eastern, CT, George Washington, James Madison, Lafayette, Fairleigh Dickinson, Marist, St Bonaventure, Siena, Providence and many others – Our catcher for 2009 has 7 full ride offers to top D-1 schools.

            Our roster will carry between 16 to 18, as it is this year, with players coming great distances ( New York , Massachusetts , Rhode Island , New Jersey , Vermont , New Hampshire and Connecticut ) in recent years to become a part of the Panther tradition – 8 years of excellence in FastPitch softball at the 18-and-Under level.

These terrific Players included;

Kaci Madden - Catcher/SS - 2009                                       Liz Tutino - 3rd/2nd - 2009

Christina Orcutt - Pitcher/1st/3rd - 2009                         Kortney Kesses SS/1st/CF - 2009

Tori Redding - CF/ut - 2009                                                Avi Green 2nd/OF - 2009

Christa Shorette 3rd/SS/CF - 2010                                   Aleshia Link - Pitcher/SS - 2010

Jamie Wiley - Pitcher/2nd/CF - 2010                               Brittany Cyr Cf/SS/3rd - 2011

Alyson Onyon - Pitcher/1st/SS - 2010

On July 10th The CT Panthers Gold went up against Bailey Sanders of the CT Brakettes.  The Ct Panthers Gold took an earlier 2-1 lead against the Brakettes with strong hitting and great base running.  Mikelyn Messina drove in the go ahead run in the top of the second with a bomb off the left center fence.  The Game was tied all the way to the bottom of the 5th inning.  Young Allyson Fournier of the Panthers pitched a terrific 5 innings against the Brakettes only allowing 2 earned runs over 5 innings.

 The Panthers hitting attack was lead by Liz Tutino, Kortney Kesses, Kaci Madden, Mikelyn Messina, Devin Diglio and Tori Redding. All in all it was a great game and as a coach to play a team of this caliber and play them this tough, I was really proud of all our girls!!

 The University of Rutgers Scarlet Knights are please to announce the signing of Catcher/3rd base player Mikelyn Messina from Woodland HS in Connecticut.  Mikelyn a premier player for the CT Panther Gold and the Varsity Captain at Woodland HS this year.  Mikelyn is excited about joining Rutgers Scarlet Knights for the 2008/2009 this Fall/Spring Season.  Mikelyn is a trememdous athlete and Rutgers is exciting about their newest recruit.

Recently, Mikelyn stopped Seymour High School's girls softball of Connecticuts winning streak, this winning streak was the second longest softball High School winning in the Connecticut history.  Mikelyn came to bat in the up of the 11th and smashed a 2 run homerun to win the game.  Mikelyn will not only bring a terrific bat with her to Rutgers, but as a Catcher for the Panthers, Mikelyn last year threw out 23-28 base runners trying to steal while she was behind th plate!!

Stony Brook softball coach Megan Bryant has announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. IF/OF Suzanne Karath (Fishkill, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham High School) and C/OF Jessica Phillips (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse High School) will join the Seawolves softball program in the fall of 2008. "In signing Suzanne and Jessica, we have added two talented, confident young women who are a great match for Stony Brook University both academically and athletically," said Bryant. Karath hit .356 with 19 stolen bases and 17 runs scored as a junior last season and was named All-League, All-Section and a second-team Poughkeepsie Journal All-Star. She is also a standout goalkeeper for her high school's soccer team. Karath also plays with the CT Panthers Gold traveling team, coached by Bryan Pereyo. "Suzanne is exactly the athlete we were looking for in an outfield candidate both offensively and defensively," said Bryant. "She can slap from the left, hit from the right, has good power potential and is an excellent base runner with speed." Coach Bryant has high hopes for the hard-working Karath and expects her to challenge for a starting spot immediately.
