Olentangy Lightning Softball Program
The Olentangy Lightning is the community-select & weekend-tournament softball program for the Olentangy Youth Athletic Association. The program is focused on providing the opportunity for girls ages 6 to 14 to play competitive softball within a community-based team environment. OYAA will be distributing information regarding registering for Lightning softball in the coming weeks. Watch your mailboxes, emails and periodically check www.oyaa.org. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at mpwjmw@nexgenaccess.com Mike Wilson Olentangy Lightning Commissioner What is a Lightning Tournament Team and how does it compare to a Lightning Select Team? Lightning Tournament Teams will play in 4-6 local, weekend softball tournaments between early June and early August of 2008. In addition, the teams will play 2 nights per week in the I270 Softball League. Each team will play between 40-60 games during the 2008 season depending on success. Lightning Select Teams will play 2 nights per week in the I270 Softball League. Although encouraged to play in at least one weekend tournament (based on player availability), Lightning Select Teams are not required to play in weekend tournaments. Tuesday, February 5 Lightning experiences Success in 2007 In 2007, the Lightning program experienced both grow and success. An additional 20 players were added to the program allowing multiple teams to be fielded at the 8U (2), 10U (3) and 12U (2) levels. Mike Wilson, Lightning Commissioner Lightning Softball Program Raises $1,700 for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio For its 2007 fundraising initiative, the Lightning Softball Program sold McDonald's Coupon Booklets. With every Coupon Booklet sold, the Lightning Softball Program donate $1.00 to the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio. $1,700 was raised.
