  Welcome

Welcome to the Official OCYFL Web Site
Thank you for visiting the website for one of the best youth sports organizations in the state of Kentucky. Bookmark this site as a favorite and visit frequently.

This organization would not be a success if not for the volunteers who put in
1..2..5..10..20 hours per week to keep this league functioning at the level it is today.

To those who wear the blinding neon yellow shirts, or the grey and green...
To those who serve the best grub this side of cell block 6...
To those wearing stripes and blowing whistles...
To the crew at the gates and in the box...
To the Chain Gang and the Spotters...
To the man behind the grill...
   To the Team Parents...
   To the coaches...
To those with a driver's license who provide taxi service...
And lastly, to the boys and girls of Oldham County Youth Football League
                      A GREAT BIG THANK YOU
                   Don't forget to say it!!!!

BEST FOOD THIS SIDE OF THE PRISON...
The Concession Stand is a major source of funds for OCYFL.
In a new format for 2007 and continued in 2008, the Concession Stand will be staffed
by volunteer adults in "blocks of time", rather than the
"each week,one-hour before the game starts", in an attempt to
give the team volunteers a single part of ONE DAY to get
their "Concession Stand assignment" out of the way.

Each team is required to provide a MINIMUM of ten (10) ADULTS,
maximum of twelve (12) for their assigned date/time.
Please arrive at your appointed time.
A BOARD MEMBER familiar with the Concession process
will be there to assist and guide you.

Working the concession area is a great way to meet
other parents and to remember those times when we were
young working fast food!
See your Team Rep to volunteer.
A schedule of volunteers must be turned in by first game
to the Concession Stand Manager, Louis Tingle.

Due to safety issues, children
defined as under the age of 18
cannot accompany their parent while
they are working in the Concessions Area.

OCYFL asks that if you are volunteering to help in Concessions,
please leave your purses, cameras and other personal items in a
secure area--such as your own vehicle. Due to lack of space,
the Concession Stand and its associated area cannot store
these items--this includes "team" goodies such as cakes and cookies.

RULE CHANGES, eff 05/18/2008

2008 APPROVED RULE CHANGES(AS OF 5/18/08)

Weight Limitations as it relates to a participant that is eligible to advance the ball, on offense:

Pee Wee Tackle – Move the weight from 80 lbs to 70 lbs.

Junior Tackle – Move the weight from 120 lbs to 110 lbs.

Senior Tackle – Move the weight from 140 lbs to 130 lbs.

Also, an unannounced, weigh-in will occur during the season.  Should any player be found to be over the weight limit, they will be given an “X” for the remainder of the season. This rule was changed to aid in safety factors as it involves our participants.  Everything from the size of the participant that is eligible to advance the ball, to those that would withhold nourishment to ensure that their participant made weight.  There will be an allowance for the unannounced weigh-in.

Minimum Play Rules;

Minimum Play rules for each division will increase from 6 per game to 10 per game.  It has been determined that each player will receive 5 plays prior to half and 5 after half.Should this not occur, penalties for the coaches will be as follows;

1st Offense – Discussion with the Division Coordinator

2nd Offense – Head Coach is suspended one game

3rd Offense – Head Coach is replaced for the season.

Practice Time:

Practice Time has been reduced from 2 ½ hours, including chalk talk, to 2 hours including chalk talk. This change has been made to ensure that participants have ample time for homework, nourishment and rest.  Coaches will become more focused and tuned into and efficient practice schedule.

Senior Age Recommendation: The Current rule will remain in place stating that no participant can turn 14 years old prior to December 1st of the playing year.

NO PETS AT THE OCYFL FIELDS, please read for details
Effective immediately, no pets will be allowed beyond the gates at the OCYFL fields.
The safety of those attending is first and foremost in making this decision.
Thank you for your understanding.

The only exception being:
Kentucky statutory law guarantees a blind person the legal right to be accompanied by a dog guide trained by a recognized dog guide school, in all public accommodations and on all public transportation. The dog must be in harness and in the custody of the dog guide user. The dog guide user can be required to muzzle the dog guide and must have verification of the dog's training, such as an identification card issued by the particular school.

TEAM WEBMASTERS, PLEASE READ

Team Webmasters, please remember not to post anyone's last name. Due to the age of our participants, we keep info on a first name basis only. If you have two players with the same first name you can add a last initial.

If you are adding members for your roster please use the Year and team name in the LASTNAME field (i.e 2008Colts).  And if you are UPLOADING a file, we ask that you name it in the following format:
description.team.seasonyr.your initials
(example: mikef.board.07.sjm   judy.jetscheer.07.sjm)
This name format helps us when we do need to perform "yearly cleanup".

Lastly, visit the LINKS section for the IMAGE RESIZER...this is a free photo resizing program. If we all use the same size photo when we do upload them, we won't use so much space.  Please do not post images larger than 600 x 400.

Thank you...OCYFL Webmasters
