At this level girls are subject to all the rules in fast-pitch softball - dropped 3rd strike, open stealing, infield fly. Pitching distance is 40 feet and a 12" ball is used. To expose players to different levels of competition, travel within Tucson for inter-league games is to be expected. 6U - This division is open to girls born in 2000, 2001 and 1/1/2002 to 6/30/2002. It is a non-competitive division (no umpires, scores, or standings). Teams will be 6 - 8 players and parents are encouraged to recruit to create their own teams so players have friends on the team. Coaches will pitch to their own players and players will also hit off a tee. A 10" Reduced Injury Factor (RIF) ball is used at this division.
8U
8U is open to girls born in 1998 and 1999. This is the first age division where girls will pitch to each other (although coaches will also pitch). Pitching distance is 32 feet and a 11" RIF (reduced-injury-factor) ball is used. No stealing is allowed. Teams will be formed based on the school the players attend (dependent upon number of players from each school).
