  Welcome

Welcome to the New Zealand Lacrosse Web Site!

This site was the official site for Lacrosse in New Zealand for almost 7 years but as some of you may have noticed it has been out of date for some time.

I have recently moved to Australia to work and live and after maintaining the site as a labour of love for NZ Lacrosse for a number of years I have finally decided to put it into retirement.

The site will stay live for now but information will not be updated and will serve only as a reference.

NZ Lacrosse now has a new site at www.nzlacrosse.com and I hope you will visit them there and enjoy your visit.

For all those of you who have enjoyed visiting this site  and who have supported NZ Lacrosse  "thank you!"

See you on a  lacrosse field somewhere sometime!

New Zealand Lacrosse
The NZLA was constituted in October 2000 and on the 10th December 2000 played the first men's lacrosse game in New Zealand for over 80 years, the Harbour Hawks defeating the Eastern Chiefz by 9 goals to 4.

The first season ended 4 months later when the College Rifles club beat the Harbour Hawks 9-3 to win the first league title since 1920.

The league expanded in 2001 from the 4 teams in 2000 to 6 teams in 2001 and in 2003 the first non Auckland team, Waikato based in Hamilton joined the league for its 4th season.

2001 also saw the first Women's League in New Zealand started with Westforce winning the inaugural title.
