Panther History
The New York Panthers Football Organization was founded in 1998 by Wylia Slade. Wylia is the first female head football coach in the United States. She has been featured in the Daily News, NY Newsday, Village Voice, NY Post, NBC and she was honored by the NFL in 2001 during their Hall of Fame weekend for excellence in coaching. The Panthers played 5 years in the Garden State Football League, where we went to the championship 3 out 5 years. For the last 3 years we have played in the North American Football League, which is the largest minor football league in the country.
The Panthers have a excellent coaching staff that is lead by former player and new owner, Calvin Moore. Ms. Slade has entrusted her dream to the only person that she trusted will get the job done and kept the high quality of play that the Panthers have had over the years. As one of the top 40 teams in the Nation, the Panthers has compiled a record of 68-27-1 in it's 8 years of existence.
Wylia has moved on to be the Community Relations Coordinator for the New York Dragons of the AFL. She will also be a Panther in heart and soul, we wish Wylia good luck in her future endeavors.

John Chestnut, of the NAFL's New York Panthers, is a 6'1 195lb wide receiver who today officially signed at 2:00pm - March 20, 2006 with the New York Dragons of the AFL. "It's a dream come true, but I am not stopping here. My ultimate goal is to make it to the NFL," said Chestnut.
Chestnut is a determined young man as his comments illustrate. He will play wide receiver, defensive back, and return kick offs for the Dragons in 2006. Chestnut will join his teammates, who are already in camp, tomorrow (Tuesday) in New York.
"I talked to Coach Weylan Harding (Head Coach of the Dragons) after Chestnuts second workout with the Dragons and after that talk, I knew Chestnut would be a Dragon," said Wylia Slade. "He is a very athletic individual and the Dragons definitely saw his potential." Slade is Chestnut's agent, friend, and also the owner of the Panthers. She was very excited for Chestnut during a phone interview.
