2009 Elections for Board of Directors
Montoursville Little League will be holding elections for the 2009 Board of Directors at the McCall Middle School Cafeteria on October 21st at 6:30 pm.

Saturday, July 19
Montoursville District 12 runner-up; Fall to Keystone 5 to 7

A tough loss to end a stellar all-star season.  Both teams hit the ball, but Keystone's fell in gaps or between fielders, whereas Montoursville's were fielded by Keystone.  Montoursville players only struck out two or three times during the whole game, the other 15 outs were by Keystone's fielding.

Nathan Krizan started the game, and unlike the other three games he pitched, he allowed four runs in the first that were tough to overcome.  Keystone was able to hit his strikes and place the balls between fielders.  Montoursville only walked one or two batters, while Keystone walked many of our players.  Some opportunities to score more runs were stymied by Keystone today.  Nick Russo relieved Nathan in the 4th inning.

Great job boys for the all-star season.  2nd Place in District 12 is quite an accomplishment.

Friday, July 18
Montoursville 9 & 10s win 14 to 10. Next game is 7/19 to decide the District 12 Champions

The umpire had a tight strike zone for both teams and some adjustments needed to be made.  Montoursville exploded for 14 runs in the first four innings and held off a valient attack by Keystone to secure the win.

Curtis Miller relieved Keith Batkowski in the first inning and pitched well until he ran up against the pitch count in the 5th.  Nick Russo and then Devin Singer finished the game pitching for Montoursville.  There were many great hits today for Montoursville: Ian Bonnell had a double to right center, Noah Fagnano had a triple down the left field line and Devin Singer had many RBIs including a bases loaded deep single to right-center that cleared the bases.

A description of this fine win would be incomplete without describing all of the great fielding as well.  Cole Karschner made three grabs in left field including a back-handed behind the head catch on the run.  Nick Russo caught a ball in Center Field and threw out a runner trying to stretch a single into a double (Keith Batkowski applied the tag).  Ian Bonnell caught two pop-ups at third base.  Robbie Barnes made a diving catch of a foul ball in front of the 3rd Base dugout in the first inning, and also threw out a runner going to third as Aiden Plants applied the tag.

Same two teams meet tomorrow at Old Lycoming again to decide the District 12 champion.

9 & 10 All Stars win another exciting game - Keystone and Montoursville only teams left in the District
Montoursville won 4 to 2 in a close fought game on July 16 that went back and forth somewhat at South Williamsport field against East Lycoming.  Nathan Krizan consistently threw strikes and pitched a complete game.  East Lycoming had many balls put in play, but Montoursville's defense played stellar.  Curtis Miller had multiple hits with a double, and Keith Batkowski and Nick Russo also had doubles.  Next up for Montoursville is Keystone and Montoursville will hope to avenge its only loss.

Minor Boys Finish Second

In the Marlon Dillon Tournament at Original,  the Minor Boys Tournament Team moved up through the losers bracket, winning 5 games in a row, getting to the Championship Game.  With an entire team effort, they defeated Hepburn, Brandon, Montgomery, Old Lycoming, and Loyalsock.  In the championship game they defeated Jersey Shore/GSV (20-15)  forcing an "if" game, but came up short in the final game, finishing in second place.  The minor boys should be proud of their "never quit" team effort.  These Boys made Montoursville Little League Proud!  Great Job Boys and Good Luck in our Montoursville Tournament!

The Montoursville Minor Tournament begins Friday, July 18.  Montoursville will have a Gold team and a Blue team in the Tournament.

Monday, July 14
9 & 10 All-Stars one of three teams remaining in the district. Next game is Wednesday, 7/16
Montoursville beat Jersey Shore/GSV in dramatic fashion in an extra inning game.  Final score was 10 to 9.  Montoursville jumped out to an 8 to 2 lead, but eventually Jersey Shore/GSV fought back to take a 9 to 8 lead.  Montoursville tied it up in the sixth, and put the go-ahead run in the 7th as Nick Russo stole home on a passed ball.  Curtis Miller, Noah Fagnano and Keith Batkowski pitched for Montoursville.  Mitch Rothrock made a fantastic throw from left field to Robbie Barnes in the sixth inning that prevented Jersey Shore/GSV from scoring the winning run as Robbie tagged out the runner.  Next up for Montoursville is East Lycoming.
