Greetings and Welcome to the 2008 Panther Football Season.
Developing and launching the Memphis Panthers in summer of ‘02 was a dream, summer ‘03 it was a discussion…in ‘04 a meeting with three other dreamers turned into a plan and Developmental Sports Management Group (DSMG) was born and incorporated in November ’05. In January ‘06, the Memphis Panthers Sports Organization (MPSO) was launched and in June ‘06 our first game (Memphis Panthers vs. Port City Monarchs) was played and the dream became reality.
Now at the start of the MPSO’s third season, we’ve been blessed with one success story after another. We completed our first season in the North American Football League (NAFL) with five all-stars selected for the ‘06 championship game; and to add to that, Willie Smith, defensive end, was selected as the National Leagues' MVP of the Southeastern Conference. Our second season would bring other successes such as countless tryouts by Panthers at NFL Combines, Arena Football tryouts and more. Nevertheless, one of the most exciting times of the second season was each time we were blessed to participate in community activities. Led by Keli Wade, Administrative Assistant of DSMG, we participated in the Memphis Food Bank Drive and held Panthers night at the Ronald McDonald House for St. Jude.
Lastly Coach and I were inducted into the River City Hall of Fame. We would not have received this accomplishment without your input and continued support for our philanthropic efforts. The third season is fast approaching and the season is expected to start in May so on behalf of DSMG and MPSO we promise food, fun and entertainment. All we need is you!
