The Breakers
Welcome to the official site of the McLean Breakers, a highly competitive U-13 Girls travel soccer team based in McLean, VA, a town of 40,000 just outside Washington DC. McLean has one of the top travel soccer programs in the country, and its club is ranked #1 in the state, according to GotSoccer's rankings! The Breakers are professionally coached and practice several times per week, including weekly MPS intensive skills training sessions with its sister teams, the MPS Power and McLean Freedom. Haytham Mansur is the Breakers' head trainer and coach, and is assisted by Jamil Faryadi, who is also the head coach of the MPS Power, as well as by other accomplished coaches such as Clyde Watson, who has trained such national stars as Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach.
The Breakers play in the Old Dominion Soccer League, and participate in numerous local and national tournaments. The team focuses on developing strong technical skills, stressing footwork, passing and ball control, taking a long-term approach to developing the total soccer player. The coaches emphasize fundamental skills, game awareness and overall fitness in a supportive environment that helps continue the players' enjoyment of the game of soccer. The team enjoys playing together and welcomes tryouts from other dedicated players!

See our Site News link for game summaries. The Breakers won their second consecutive Division Championship in the Spring 2008 Spring season; click here for the 2008 Spring schedules and results! The Breakers' play is characterized by controlled passing, a fast, explosive offense with numerous scoring threats, and a speedy, swarming defense that yielded only one goal during the 2007 regular season leading to the Divison Championship. The team has a lot of fun playing together and in addition to the regular fall and spring seasons, also plays indoor winter soccer.
The team is currently holding tryouts for talented and dedicated players interested in continuing to build their individual abilities and develop effective teamwork skills. There will be some kick-arounds during the summer and pre-season tournaments are scheduled beginning the second week of August.
