Thursday, February 8 A Successful 2006 Season We enjoyed another successful Liberty Pop Warner Football season. Over 160 young men and 8 cheerleaders participated in the program this year. We were encouraged by the addition of the cheerleading program after a 3-year absence. As a group, we had one of the best winning percentages in recent Liberty Pop Warner Football history. On September 16th, we once again hosted home games at the Liberty Junior Varsity football field. We were excited to see the number of fans in attendance at these games. We are very proud that of the 170 kids that signed up for football and cheerleading at the beginning of the season, only 2 left before the end of the season. Way to go, kids! Go Blue Jays! Along with each player receiving a football letter and yearbook, this year the Liberty Pop Warner Football organization was pleased to welcome a special guest appearance by the Kansas City Chiefs Rookie #51, Boomer Grigsby. Boomer spoke to the group about the hard work and commitment he had to make at a young age to be a 5th round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs, and that dreams do come true. After speaking to the crowd of over 250, Boomer signed autographs and took a picture with each of the players. As a thank-you, Liberty Pop Warner presented Boomer with a Bluejay Football, which was signed by each of the Pop Warner players. The Liberty Pop Warner 2005 Football season was comprised of over 125 young men, in five divisions (Mitey-Mite II through Junior Midget). Most games are played in Independence at the Heart of America football fields, however, on September 17, 2005, Liberty Pop Warner had the opportunity to host six games at the Liberty High School J.V. football field.
