2008 Men's Lacrosse Season

LHS Men’s Lacrosse is in its third season, second as a Varsity sport. We had close to 50 players who participated in the 2007 season between Varsity and JV and hope to build on the foundation set last year. No experience is required to try out for Lacrosse as this is still a relatively new sport in Livermore. We are looking for athletes who enjoy a fast paced game where hand-eye coordination, speed, quickness, strength and mental toughness are assets. Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and in our region.

  • Chris Linn
JV Coaches

Men's Lacrosse Program Goals for Spring 2007
Program Goals – Spring 2007

  1. Enjoyable and memorable lacrosse experience for all players.
  2. Varsity – Direct all you actions, on and off the field, toward making LHS Lacrosse a winning program.
  3. JV – Develop new skill on the field, become better with the ones you already have, and learn the game.
  4. Increase cumulative team GPA by end of season. Obtain the academic excellence award for a team. Overall program GPA over 3.0
  5. Continue to develop productive and beneficial relationships with the LHS Administration.
  6. Ensure a financially sound and organized program for 2007 and years to come by conducting fundraisers and obtaining new sponsors.
  7. Increase player’s stick skills, game knowledge, and physical conditioning.
  8. Increase coaches’ skills in presenting information to players, organizing, and running a lacrosse program, and in understanding the game of lacrosse.
  9. Ensure that the LHS lacrosse parents are kept well informed. That LHS men’s lacrosse keeps strong its players’ passion and love of the game.
  10. Increase relationship with the Phantom Program through players volunteering as coaches, and helping at lacrosse clinics. Invite Phantom Team to attend LHS home games.
  11. Have more players receive “All League” honors and have at least one player receive “All American” Honors.
  12. Never lose a game to Granada.

Remember, it’s never easy to build a program from the ground up. But the strength of the foundation that we build together will ensure the success of the program for years to come. This program that we build together will be something that we can all be proud of long past our time here together. Honor your team and the game.

Livermore Men’s Lacrosse Rules of Conduct
Livermore Men’s Lacrosse Rules of Conduct

  1. Be on time for practices. Be geared up and ready to start drills at 7 PM.
  2. No insubordination or disrespect will be tolerated, ever, and is grounds for dismissal from the team.
  3. Poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. No player or person is bigger than the team.
  4. All assigned conditioning is to be completed by 6:55 PM before the start of a 7:00 PM practice.
  5. When a coach is speaking, that is the only voice that should be heard. Being a good listener is a skill also.
  6. The proper response to all instructions is, “Yes, Coach.”
  7. The Varsity and JV Lacrosse Programs are one; always support your teammates.
  8. When the Captains speak, it is the same as if it is coming from the coaches. Respect their leadership.
  9. When running a drill or scrimmage, focus on the task at and work on improving some part of your game.
  10. Be an ambassador for your team and the sport. Volunteer to help with fundraising and lacrosse clinics for youth programs.

Lorne Smith's Lacrosse Summer Camps

There is some news for those interested in Lorne Smith's Lacrosse Summer Camps. During the past eight years Lorne has directed camps at Stanford. Lorne is no longer coaching at Stanford, so he has moved the overnight camp to Menlo College. Past Stanford overnight campers will approve of the new site because the fields, dorms, and dining hall are all within a five minute walk. No more busses or long walks back and forth to the fields.

The Stanford day camp will now be held at San José State University.
