Freshman Farmer Volleyball
I hope everyone likes the sweatshirts-the company accidentally printed the first set on 50/50 sweatshirts so we have some to sell if you are interested. I can sell hoodies and regular sweatshirts for $10 each. There are limited quantities, so if you are interested , please send the money with your player asap. This week was a tough one—Both teams dropped both matches to Flower Mound and Hebron. For the A Team scores, we lost to Flower Mound 17-25, and 9-25. Makayla Roberson again led our offense with 5 kills. The A Team scores against Hebron were 8-25, and 17-25. We had little offense with only 4 kills as a team! We had trouble with receiving their serves, but we will work on that this week in practice. The B Team scores against Flower Mound were 20-25, and 14-25. Katie Loveday led the B team with 6 kills. Stevey Vaughn added 3. Against Hebron, the B team lost a close one 21-25 and 20-25. Kayla Salas and Ashley Miller each had 2 kills. Our district is one of the toughest in the state for volleyball. The schools in our district are rich in volleyball tradition with over 50% of their players having participated in club for at least 2 years. This means their players are a little ahead of us right now. My goal is to work on fundamentals this year, give the players a good foundation and hopefully we can close the gap through off-season. It will not happen quickly, most of the players at the other schools have about two seasons on us right now. Our goal at LHS is to improve and work on our fundamentals so that we can close the gap over the next few years, and as the girls are juniors and seniors, we are competing for a district title. Stay positive, we have come a long way baby!—-Coach Werts

Thinking About Playing Club Volleyball?
I will hand out information next week during study hall about Club Volleyball Parent meetings and tryouts. If your daughter wants to improve her volleyball skills, the only way to do it is to play. Club volleyball offers that opportunity. You may have heard it is expensive, it can be. Each club offers different levels of play, beginning with local, where you practice once a week and play in one tournament a month. The top teams are National teams and they practice at least 2 times a week and play in tournaments multiple times a month and often travel out of state. Most clubs offer payment plans and some offer scholarships. If your daughter wants to tryout, I can help give you guidance. I will hand out information on four local clubs—there are others if you are interested.
Please email me individually if you need some help!
