2007 Information...
Sorry for the lack of coverage so far this season on our site. We are in the process of upgrading our site to bigger and better things and look forward to it's very soon to be launch. We promise it won't disapoint you! The launch date was originally going to be September 1st, but had to be pushed back a bit. Stay tuned for more information to come very soon. While we await the launch, the Patriots defeated the Fontainebleau Bulldogs in the Jamboree 22-0 and have defeated the Mandeville Skippers 20-3 in the season opener. The Patriots travel to play at East St. John next Friday night.
The Patriots defense throttled the high powered East St. John offense in the highly anticipated matchup between the two teams. The Wildcats were the last team to defeat the Patriots nearly two years ago. The defense also scored two touchdowns as Conner Mullins pounced on a fumble in the endzone, which gave the Patriots a 28-0 lead at the time. Leading up to that, Blaine LeBlanc scored two touchdowns, one on the first posession of the game, and Matt Saucier scored the other. Capping off the scoring was a Jonathan McKnight interception return for a TD that made the final score 34-7. The Wildcats lone score came on a kickoff return for a TD.

Joe McKnight and Jonathan English to play in All-American games!
Joe McKnight will play in the U.S. Army All-American game on Saturday, January 7th at noon on national TV on NBC in San Antonio, Texas! Check out how Joe stacks up agains the best of the best high school players. Also, Jonathan English is playing in Max Emfinger's All-American Bowl Game on Friday, January 6th in Shreveport at 4:00. Jonathan's game will not be on TV, however.

Patriots finish #2 IN THE NATION!!!
The 2006 John Curtis Christian Football team achieved it's highest national ranking in the school's history. The Patriots finished the #2 ranked team in two of the five National Polls!! The Patriots nearly gained the #1 spot in USA Today when previous #1 DeLaSalle, from Concord, California, lost it's state championship. However, USA Today chose the previous #3 ranked team ahead of the previous #2 team Curtis. There is no shame in the #2 National Ranking though! This is an awesome accomplishment for ALL Patriot players...past, present and future! The Patriots also jumped a spot in the TonyPoll from #3 to #2. The Patriots held onto their #3 ranking in RiseMag's poll. The Patriots also finished #4 in bothe the PrepNation poll and Student Sport's Fab 50.

Joe McKnight selected Mr. Football!!
Congratulations to Joe on being selected Mr. Football in the state of Louisiana. Click the headline for the official announcement. Joe also has been nominated for two national awards. Joe went on trips to Phoenix and New York for both of these awards. Joe went to Phoenix for the EAS National Speed and Strength Athlete of the Year and was one of four finalists. He went to New York for the U.S. Army Ken "Sugarland" Hall National Player of the Year. Joe is one of five finalists for the Ken Hall award. He will find out if he is the winner the week he goes to San Antonio for the U.S. Army All-American game.

2006 STATE CHAMPS!!!!!!!
Postgame in the locker room when J.T. addressed the team, he stated "If there is a better team in the country, I sure would like to play their butts." After Friday night's dominating performance in the title game, the Patriots assured themselves of a top 5 ranking in all seven of the national polls, reaching as high as #2. Also, the Times-Picayune said if there is a better player in the country than Joe McKnight, then they would like to see him. Joe finished with sort of a ho-hum night for himself statistical-wise, but when the opponent changes their entire defense to try to stop one player, it opens up everything else for all of the other players on the field. That's just what happened in the game. David Seeman, who was the games MVP, rushed for 130 yards on 16 carries. Darryl Brister rushed for 86 yards on 11 carries. QB's Kyle Collura and Matt Saucier combined for 153 yards on 18 carries with Collura getting 88 and Saucier 65. So, the distribution of yardage was all over the field Friday night. Those players show up in the stat sheet. But, what doesn't show up in the stat sheet is the dominating performance of the Patriot offensive line. Coached by Mike Robertson and Jerry Godfrey, the O-Line paved the way for a 526 total yard performance, with 432 yards coming via the run. Seeman worked the left side behind Ruston Rodrigue and Andrew Nierman. Brister and McKnight worked the right side behind Mike Collins and Chris DuSaules. Jeff Middleton rotated in with DuSaules and Lawrence Singleton checked in and spelled Collins. Tight end Kevin Wild worked both sides and did a tremendous job as well. Jacob Dufrene and Blake Lachute rotated in in the Patriots' two-tight end set. Bryan Munch was the center and played hard all night long owning the middle. We can't leave out the receivers down field blocking effort as well. McKnight, though double-covered all night, threw many blocks in the secondary to spring long runs. Arthur Wardsworth made a key block as well. Vincent Allen, Wayne Poole, P.J. Smith, and Stephen Bourgeois rotated all night long and got in the mix. What can you say about the Patriot defense though. After three quarters of play, the Comets had just 16 yards of total offense! The Comets ended the game with 56 total yards. In the four games played in the last two years, the Patriot defense has given up 0 touchdowns to the Comets! Yes, that's right...NONE! Masterful preparation by the defensive coaches Leon, Tommy, Johnny, Preston, Lance and Steve helped pave the way for that feat. But, it was the players who executed it to perfection! Outside linebackers Jacob Dufrene, Preston Numa, Chris Hawley and Conner Mullins had the size and speed to keep the Comet running backs and quaterbacks contained in the pocket. That forced them into the middle where Jonathan English, Chris Nickolson, Mike Henry, Jerahmie Collins, and Ian Nicholson were waiting. Linebackers got in the mix as well stopping both the pass and the run. Mike Walker, Lincston Jones and Kenny Cain shut down any threat the Comets would have. In the secondary, the Patriots limited the comets to just 34 yards on 22 attempts. Colby Arceneaux hassled slot receivers and running backs out of the backfield all-night long. Kelby Wuertz, Robby Green, Alex Lauricella, P.J. Smith, and Linwood Narcisse covered receivers like blankets from start to finish. It was a complete team-effort, was this twenty-first state title. We could not be any more proud of the focus and determination of this team. There were a lot of pats on the back along the way. The team easily could have lost focus. But, to their credit, they remained focused and no one really came close to touching the Patriots all year long. There were no letdown's or slip-up's, so credit the team. They practiced hard, prepared hard, worked hard, and it ultimately paid off as they can claim that they are one of the best in the country and rank up there as one of the Patriots top team's ever. That's saying a lot for a program that has 21 titles! They had to seal the deal to accomplish those feats and they did Friday in the 'Dome. I'd get into the specifics of the game, but just know this, the Patriots dominated from start to finish in all three phases of the game. Perhaps, turining in their best overall performance of the year. It's hard to see this senior class go. There are guys on this team who have been here since Kindergarten and some who just came this year...and everywhere in between. What's great is how these boys turned into young men and learned valuable life-lessons along the way. They walk away from this season better men for going through the things they went through. If they can apply the focus, determination, and dedication that they showed throughout the season, in life, they will be successful at whatever path they choose to take. That's what this is about people...life, not a game. These young men need to be proud to hold that trophy up in the air, but even prouder when they put that kind of effort into a job and bring home that first pay check they've worked so hard for...or, prouder when they decide to walk the aisle and become a successful husband...or, even prouder when they have that child and decide to be a successful father. I could go on and on, but know this for sure, Once a Patriot...Always a Patriot! It never leaves you and these lessons learned will never either! We love you guys and are extremely proud to call you "ours"!

Championship events this week!!!
The championship festivities will begin on Thursday, December 7th at noon. All students, family, alumni and friends are invited to march in our annual parade around the neighborhood, followed by the pep rally, which will have a "loudest shaker" contest and "best decorated" contest for grades PreK-12. Lunch will be available as well on campus.
Then on Friday, school will be dismissed at 12 noon, due to the early time of the game at the Superdome. Tickets will be available at the school through Wednesday for $12 general admission and $14 reserved. On Sunday, December 10th, we will once again observe our annual praise and worship service at 10:30 at the lower school gym. We anticipate seeing all of our football players and their families in attendance as well as our volleyball players, cheerleaders, dance line, band and other auxillary groups, with their family and friends as well.
We are extremely excited during this week and hope to see as many of you as possible at any and all of the events.

DOME....Here we come!!!!!!!
The Patriots whipped the Clinton Eagles 59-12 in the semi-finals to advace to play for their 21st state championship next Friday. The state game will return to the Louisiana Superdome, after moving to Shreveport last season because of Hurricane Katrina. Kickoff for the game will be at 5:00 and more information for the week's events will follow. Congrats Patriots!!!

DOMINATION...59-12!
The Patriots wasted little time in disposing of the Clinton Eagles Friday night at Tad Gormley stadium. On the Patriots' first offensive play, David Seeman bolted right down the middle of the field behind tenacious blocking for a touchdown. On the next possession, Seeman this time waited for the second play of the drive to score. Adding the two point conversion by Kyle Collura, the Patriots led 14-0 before you could blink. Three touchdowns later, one from Joe McKnight, Kyle Collura and another from Seeman, the Patriots led 35-0 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the frigid air cooled off the Patriots offense, as they scored just one TD on a Collura to McKnight pass and a field goal by Stone Speer. However, Robby Green returned an interception for a TD as the Patriots led 52-6 at halftime. The Patriots gave up a kickoff return for a TD as time expired in the second quarter. In the third quarter the Eagles returned an interception for a TD from Collura. Then the Patriots scored on a punt return by McKnight, then cruised from there en route to a final score of 59-12.

Alum Brandin Jordan named Conference Freshman of the Year!

2005 graduate Brandin Jordan was named the Gateway Conference Freshman of the Year this season for his play at Southern Illinois. Brandin was the leading tackler for Southern Illinois with 96 tackles and was 11th overall in the Confernce in tackles. Click the above headline for the link to the official release.

Pelicans keep it close for a half
The Homer Pelicans were able to keep the game close in the first half with it's speed on offense and it's ability to slow the Patriot offense a bit. The Patriots came up short on fourth down on the opening possession. The defense then did it's job forcing a Pelican punt. The punt return was caught and after a key block by David Seeman, Joe McKnight raced up the middle 40 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead. The Patriot defense got the ball back to the Patriots again and the offense took over. The drive was capped by a 26 yard TD run by McKnight. The kick failed and the Patriots led 13-0. The Patriots would score one more time in the first half, this time in the second quarter after a long drive that was finished with a 5 yard TD run by Seeman. The Pelican offense then went to work, driving 80 yards for a score with eight seconds remaining in the half. The two point conversion failed and the Patriots led at the intermission 19-6. The small fire that the Pelicans started at the end of the first half was quickly extinguished in the third quarter. The score on the Patriot defense angered them and they came out and shut down the speedy Pelican quarterback and skill players in the second half. On the Patriots first drive of the second half, running back Darryl Brister ripped off a 54 yard gain, which then led to a Collura to P.J. Smith TD pass from 16 yards out. Seeman converted the 2-point play and the Patriots built up a 27-6 lead. The defense forced a 3-and-out and the offense went back to work following a big punt return by Seeman. Brister then punched a TD in from 8 yards out for a 34-6 lead. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Collura found McKnight on a post for a 39 yard TD pass and a 40-6 lead. QB Matt Saucier scored the last TD of the night on a 27 yard run and Zach Medley converted the extra point for the final score of 47-6. The Patriots advance to the semi-finals next Friday night against the Clinton Eagles, who lost in last year's quarter-finals. More details on the game will come soon.

ATTN: ALL PARENTS AND ALUMNI!!! Thanksgiving practice and devotion news...
All parents, friends and alumni are invited to attend the annual Thanksgiving practice and devotional set for Thanksgiving morning. The Patriots will begin practice at 8:00 and go through a short, light practice. Then, immediately following the practice, the Thanksgiving devotional will take place. It is a joyous time and we encourage all to attend, if possible. We love seeing both old and new faces every year. We have been blessed to be able to practice during the Thanksgiving holidays through the years and hope we can continue to excel and celebrate this occassion!

Cruise control...Patriots win 34-6...Quarter-Finals next!
The Patriots played the Donaldsonville Tigers for the second time in three weeks Friday night at Muss Bertolino. Even though the Patriots scored 34 points through three quarters, they squandered three more opportunities for points. One coming on an opening drive fumble in the endzone, one interception in the endzone and another interception deep in Donaldsonville territory. Those turnovers did not cost the Patriots much Friday night, but the Patriots must take care of the ball better in order to play for and get their 21st state title. Joe McKnight touched the ball just three times, all in the first quarter, with all three touches resulting in a touchdown. His first was a 42 yard pass reception from Collura. His second was a 15 yard run and third was a 23 yard pass from Collura. He would not touch the ball again all night. Darryl Brister scored the next touchdown and led all rushers with 139 yards on 15 carries. Vincent Allen took in a 41 yard TD catch, again from Collura for the only Patriot score in the second half. The Curtis defense was awesome, once again. They limited the Tiger offense to just over 100 yards for the game with most coming in the fourth quarter against Patriot reserves. Their lone points came on a 46 yard run in the fourth quarter, which accounted for nearly half of the Tiger total yards for the game. The Patriots will be back in action next Friday night. This time the Patriots take their playoff run on the road to Homer, Louisiana to face off against the Homer Pelicans. The Pelicans are 11-1 on the year and have an absolutely electifying quarterback, who also happens to wear #4. He has been described by coaches as Micael Vick-like! Which #4 will electrify the most? Friday night from 7:00 until about 9:00, we will find out!

Lightning fast start puts Patriots in cruise mode...
Any doubt that the John Curtis Christian School Patriot football team would be sleep walking in the first round of the playoffs against the #32 seen Pine Raiders would be erased on the first play. Bryan Munch, Andrew Nierman and Ruston Rodrigue opened up a huge hole and David Seeman sprinted 78 yards for the Patriots first score of the game on the first play from scrimmage. The defense did it's job in getting the ball back quickly to the Patriot offense when Colby Arceneaux intercepted a pass in the right side flat and ran it back 10 yards. Kyle Collura eventually snuk in a TD from 1 yard out for a 13-0 lead after the kick failed. The Patriot defense then held the Raiders again and following a punt out of bounds, Matt Saucier cruised up the left sideline untouched for a 67 yard TD run and a 19-0 lead. The next series resulted in another one play drive when Collura found Joe McKnight for a 39 yard TD pass. Then, Darryl Brister scored both of his TD's next with a one yard TD and a 6 yard TD. The Patriots led 40-0 after the first quarter of play. In the second quarter, Stone Speer converted a 32 yard field goal for a 43-0 lead. In the second half, Seeman scored his second TD of the game, this time he caught a pass from Collura and raced 37 yards for the TD and a 49-0 lead. Pine then returned the kickoff back for a TD. The last touchdown by hte Patriots came when QB Matt Saucier sprinted up the middle of the field 55 yards and a 55-7 lead. The Raiders would later score to make it a 55-14 game as the Patriots advance to the second round of the playoffs against a familiar foe. The Patriots will play the Donaldsonville Tigers in the Regional round of the playoffs at Muss Bertolino at 7:00 Friday night. See you there!

Early strikes propel Patriots to district title...
The Patriots got out the gate early Thursday night en route to the district title at Muss Bertolino against the Donaldsonville Tigers. The Patriots scored 29 points in the first qurter behind David Seeman, Joe McKnight and Kyle Collura. The Patriots didn't slow down much in the second quarter either. Matt Saucier and Dex Thibodeaux scored for the Patriots for a huge halftime lead. The lone Tiger score came on a 76 yard kickoff return. The Patriots scored just once in the second half with another Thibodeaux run for a TD. The Patriots walked away with a 50-6 victory and the district title in hand. The Patriots will now play in the Bi-District playoffs against Pine. The game will be Friday night at Muss Bertolino starting at 7:00. The lower school, middle school and junior high "Future Patriots" will be introduced one-by-one before the game and will form a tunnel when the Patriots enter the playing field. Be there to support all of "our" Patriots!

Second half surge propels Patriots to victory...
The Patriots' stingy defense and potent offense was kept a little off-balance in the first half. The Patriots ran just 11 plays in the first half as the St. James Wildcats used a ball control offense to chip away with first downs by run, pass and penalty. The Wildcats threatened early in the game when they got down to the two yard line. But, a stuff on a run and two big sacks pushed the Wildcats back and eventually out of field goal range. The Patriot offense seemed to come to life when QB Kyle Collura connected with Joe McKnight down the sideline. McKnight shook off a tackler and tried to break another tackle when the ball came out at about the three yardline. Joe and the two Wildcats raced after the ball into the endzone where a Wildcat fell on it for a touchback. The Wildcats would threaten again late in the second quarter when a field goal on the last play of the second quarter was short and wide right as time expired. The second half was a different story for the Patriot offense. The Patriots took the opening kickoff and marched right down the field for the first points of the night. David Seeman ran the TD in from 12 yards. After a penalty, the point after attempt was wide right. St. James would not go quietly though. St. James connected on a 52 yard pass down the middle to knot the score at six. The point after try was good and the Patriots trailed 7-6. Now, it was time to answer the bell on offense. The Patriots did just that. Marching down the field once again. This time McKnight broke tackle after tackle en route to an 11 yard TD run to give the Patriots a 12-7 lead. The two-point conversion failed and gave the Wildcats some life. This time the defense rose to the occasion shutting down the potent Wildcat offense. The Patriots got the ball back with just over 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. The offense then took control of the line of scrimmage and the game. The Patriots drove down the field consuming yards and time off the clock. The final points of the game came when Collura snuk in from a yard out. Stone Speer kicked the PAT through for a 19-7 lead. But, most importantly, there was just over a minute left in the game and the game was basically over. The Wildcats put up a good fight, but it was not enough to slow the Patriots to claim at least a share of the district title, even in the slick, wet field conditions following Thursday night and Friday morning rain. Something tells me this is only act one in a two act drama. The Patriots and Wildcats should meet up with each other eventually in the playoffs, barring a major upset by somebody. The Wildcats can play with anybody, and it showed Friday night. Now, it's back to work for the Patriots for the season finale against Donaldsonville. Thursday night the Patriots will square off against the Tigers in the Patriots' Homecoming game. Come to Bertolino to support the Patriots Thursday night at 7:00!

Patriots steamroll Rebels 54-0
Can the Patriot defense play much better than what we've seen in the past three weeks? The Patriot defense had given up only 3 points in the last 11 quarters of play! The streak started in the second half of the Hoover game when the Patriots pitched a shutout in the final three quarters after giving up two first quarter touchdowns. Since then only a field goal, after a turnover by the Patriot offense, by Choctawhatchee has been the only points the Patriots have given up. Neither St. Charles nor Choctawhatchee had really come close to scoring either. Could the defense play as well against the Rebels. The answer is YES! The Patriots limited the Rebels to just three first downs and just 36 total yards for the night. Big plays were the theme of the night for the Patriot offense and special teams. Darryl Brister scored two touchdowns, both on runs. Joe McKnight had a 54 yard punt return and a 54 yard pass from Kyle Collura. David Seeman had a 75 yard kickoff return to start the second half. Matt Saucier ran in a TD from 42 yards out. Lastly, Marchez Patterson ran in a TD from 18 yards out for the final TD. The Patriots must put all of this behind them as they embark on perhaps the biggest game of the year, when they travel to St. James for what could be the district championship! The Wildcats are as good of a team as anybody the Patriots have played and will be especially tough at Wildcat field. We will need ALL of the Patriot legion to support the team this Friday night in Vacherie at 7:00!

Joe McKnight selected to U.S. Army All-American's West Team!!
Tuesday, Joe McKnight was officially selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Game. The game will be played in San Antonio, Texas on January 7th, at noon. Joe will be on the West squad for the bowl game Congratulations to Joe on being selected to this prestigious game.

Patriots overcome sluggish start to knockout undefeated Comets...
The Comet defense held the Patriot offense somewhat in check in the first 24 minutes of the game. The Patriots scored just 14 points in the first two quarters, but the Patriot defense was suffocating, as the Pariots led 14-0 at the half. The scoring started with a 43 yard TD pass from Kyle Collura to P.J. Smith for a 6-0 lead after Stone Speer's extra point attempt bounced off the upright. Joe McKnight then scored his first TD of the game on a 3 yard TD run. David Seeman added the 2-point conversion for the halftime lead. The Patriots then scored in a flurry in the third quarter. Joe McKnight caught a 32 yard pass from Kyle Collura to start. Then, Alex Lauricella blocked a 90 yard field goal attempt. Yes, the Comets lined up in field goal formation to try to keep the Patriot punt return team off the field. It worked, but unfortunately for the Comets, the Patriots blocked two attempts. Lauricella blocked the attempt, then got up and scooped the ball and scored, giving the Patriots a 28-0 lead. The Patriot defense got the ball right back and this time Matt Saucier hooked up with McKnight. This time from six yards out and a 34-0 lead. The final score came on Blaine LeBlance's 75 yard TD run in the fourth quarter. The Patriot defense held teh Comets to just 79 yards of total offense, 31 on the ground and 48 in the air. The Patriots are now the #2 ranked team in the country in the combination of all the polls. With the addition of the Fab50 poll, the Tony Poll, the PrepNation Poll, the USA Today Super 25 poll and the StudentSports/Rise.com poll, the Patriots have a total of 18 points. Far behind the #1 Lakeland Dreadnaughts with just 6 points and just barely ahead of the #3 ranked Southlake Carroll Dragons with 24 points. Slow start gives way to explosive second and third quarters...
The Patriots had a bit of a slow start Friday night against the Green Indians from Fort Walton Beach, Florida's Choctawhatchee High School. The Patriots scored a late touchdown in the first quarter, then scored two more in the second quarter to give them a 21-3 halftime lead. David Seeman scored all three touchdowns and ended the game with four and 98 yards. The Patriot defense was stifling, however. The Green Indians finished the game with just three total yards of offense on the night. In the third quarter the offense heated up. Following another Seeman touchdown, quarterback Kyle Collura found Joe McKnight down the middle of the field for a 52 yard TD pass. McKnight capped off the scoring with a nine yard TD run for a 41-3 lead midway through the third quarter. The Patriot subs played the rest of the way and despite not scoring had a good outing. The offense moved the ball and picked up some first downs, while the defense held the Indians to two three and outs. The Patriots will open up district next Friday night against the St. Charles Comets on the road for 7:00.

More accolades for the Patriots...
The New Orleans Saints have J.T. Curtis the NFL Coach of the Week following the Hoover game last Friday, which was broadcast to a national audience via ESPNU.
Also, PrepNation.com has announced J.T. Curtis as its National Coach of the Week as well. In addition to that, Joe McKnight was named to PrepNation.com's Southeast Region Player of the Week for his accomplishments against Hoover. Patriots beat #1 ranked Hoover Bucs 28-14!!!!!
The Patriots traveled to Hoover, which is a suburb of Birmingham, as an underdog in a matchup of nationally ranked teams. The Patriots, on paper, were no match for the Bucs and their national #1 ranking in three polls. On the field though, it was a different story. The Patriot defense was absolutely dominating following Hoover's first two drives, which were their only points of the night. The Bucs managed just 192 total yards of offense, with 163 of those coming on the ground with their run game. The vaunted Hoover Buc passing offense was seriously throttled. Ross Wilson was held to just 29 yards passing on the night while he completed just six out of seventeen pass attempts. The Patriots gobbled up three interceptions as well. The game started out very slow for the Patriots though. Following a 30 yard burst up the middle by David Seeman on the opening drive, the Patriots had their punt attempt blocked. The Bucs drove it right down the field and scored. On the Patriots next possession, the Patriots fumbled a pitch attempt and the Bucs recovered on the 15 yard line. A couple of plays later, touchdown Bucs and a 14-0 lead. Now, it's PATRIOT POWER time!! Joe McKnight got the offense kick started on 3rd and 4 with a 61 yard tackle breaking run the was about an inch away from being an 74 yard TD run. The referee ruled him out of bounds on the 13 yard line. Later in the drive, Kyle Collura snuck in the endzone for the Patriots first TD. Then, the defense went to work! Following a long kickoff return, the defense bowed it's neck and held the Bucs to a 47 yard field goal attempt. It came up short...that's all the Patriots would need...one break. They got it. The next play from scrimmage, Collura play faked a run and lobbed a beautiful pass that hit McKnight in stride and he raced 80 yards for the game tying score. Stone Speer's extra points knotted the score at 14 all. The Bucs again seemed to respond though with another long kickoff return. Kicker Chris Guillot tackled Buc returner Dennis King after a huge return. The Patriot defense said, "no problem" and they stiffened yet again. Different kicker this time for the Bucs...same result. No Good! The Patriots went into halftime all tied at 14 and feeling good. The third qaurter belonged to the Patriots. The Patriots began to grind the Buc defense with a couple of yards here and a few yards there, then...poof! There goes David Seeman right up the gut for a 50-yard TD run and a Patriot lead 21-14. It was teh first time the Bucs have trailed all season. The Patriot defense limited the Bucs to virtually no yards in the third quarter. Then, after a couple of turnovers and traded punts, Collura found McKnight again streaking past the Buc safety for a 45 yard TD pass. Speer added the extra point for a 28-14 lead. The Patriot defense just kept throttling the Buc offense each time out and riddled Wilson with coverage schemes, forcing him to scramble and run for minimal gains. The schemes worked to the Patriots advantage as the Bucs couldn't find the endzone again. The Patriots ran out the last 1:50 of the clock and played spoiler to the Bucs' national title hopes. It was an awesome atmosphere as Patriot fans showed up in droves to support the Patriots. Both near and far, many students, alumni, parents and friends were decked out in Red, White and Blue and cheered loudly from at least an hour before kickoff until an hour past the game was over. The John Curtis Christian School family sends it's thanks to all those who watched the game live, on ESPNU, or who were with us in spirit! We KNOW Mr. Curtis was looking down at us, smiling and dancing in Heaven in his white suit with those #1's up in the air! He would have loved that football game! Again, thanks for the support, and we will continue to need your support in the 2006 football team's quest for state title #21! The Patriots will be back in action next Friday night in the home opener at Muss Bertolino against another out of state opponent, the Choctawhatchee Green Indians, out of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Quick start propels Patriots
Joe McKnight took the first offensive snap for the Patriots 62 yards for a touchdown Friday night at Hoss Memtsas stadium against the West Jefferson Bucaneers. The Patriots never looked back en route to a 35-6 victory. All of Curtis' scoring was done in the first half with Darryl Brister catching a Kyle Collura pass for a TD, Matt Saucier sneaking in a TD from three yards out, Collura from one yard out, then McKnight again, this time from 63 yards. The Patriot defense smothered the West Jeff offense in the first half and gave up a touchdown in the third quarter for the Bucs' lone score. Matt Saucier fell on the onside kick attempt to pretty much secure the game for the Patriots. The Patriots will be on the road again this week, this time in Hoover, Alabama. They will square off against the #1 nationally ranked Hoover Bucs on ESPNU at 7:00 at the Hoover Met(ropolitan Stadium). More information will follow on this game.

Salmen series now even after 35-7 victory...
Coming into the game, the series with Salmen through the years tilted in Salmen's favor with a 4-3 advantage. However, after Friday night's easy victory, the Patriots have evened that series up at four each. The Patriots got it going early. David Seeman took a handoff on the second play of the second drive in for a 37 yard touchdown run. The run followed an interceptio by Lincston Jones on Salmen's first play from scrimmage. After another interception, this time by Alex Lauricella, Joe McKnight scampered in from 29 yards away for a 14-0 first quarter lead. In the second quarter, two quick-strike one play drives added to that lead. Vincent Allen hauled in a Kyle Collura pass and ran it in for a 59 yard TD pass. On the next drive's first play, McKnight ran in a 39 yard run for a TD. These were McKnight's only carries of the game. The last points of the game came in the second quarter as well when Bryce Jenkins snuck in on a quarterback sneak for the TD following Matt Saucier's 88 yard run. Saucier led all rushers with 154 yards on just 5 carries. Collura completed three passes for 86 yards. The Patriot defense held the Spartans to -1 yards rushing and 91 total yards for the night. The Spartans lone score was a 75 yard fumble return for a TD. The Patriots will be back in action next Friday night against the West Jefferson Buccaneers at Hoss Memtsas Stadium at 7:00. Former Patriot Chris Jackson named team captain/named to Ray Guy Watch List...
Former John Curtis kicker/quarterback Chris Jackson has been voted one of the team captains for the 2006 season at LSU. He has also been placed on the Ray Guy Watch List for the 2006 season as well. Chris is now a 4-year starting punter/kickoff/long field goal kicker! Good luck to Chris in his senior season!! We are proud of you!

Patriots dismantle Skippers in season opener...
The John Curtis Patriots scored in every aspect of the game Friday night en route to a 43-0 season opening victory over the Mandeville Skippers. Joe McKnight hauled in his first TD pass of the game giving the Patriots a 7-0 lead halfway into the first quarter. Then, on third down, the Skippers threw a pass and it hit Mike Walker right in the chest and received a convoy of Patriots into the endzone for a 13-0 lead. Kyle Collura snuk into the endzone for the two point conversion and a 15-0 lead. After a 3-and-out by the Patriot defense, Darryl Brister ran in from 33 yards out and a successful PAT attempt by Stone Speer gave the Patriots a 22-0 first quarter lead. In the second quarter, the lone score was a Collura to McKnight TD pass. This time the pass covered 69 yards and gave the Patriots a 29-0 halftime lead. The Patriot defense got another 3-and-out to start the third quarter when McKnight ran in a TD from 39 yards out. It would be his last play on offense. The last TD of the game was by another McKnight, this time by Joe's brother Jonathan. He took a punt on the 21 yard line, and behind superb blocking raced 89 yards for the game's final touchdown and a 43-0 lead with about three minutes to go in the game. The Patriots will be off next week and will travel to Spartan Stadium to face off against the Salmen Spartans following the open week.

Sloppy field doesn't slow Patriots...
The Patriots played the second game of the Slidell Jamboree in a complete slop pit following a downpour of flooding rain. The Patriots scored on their first and third possessions of the first half and first possession of the second half en route to a 19-6 victory over the Fountainebleau Bulldogs. Running backs David Seeman, Darryl Brister and Joe McKnight scored a touchdown each in the game. The Patriots open the season next Friday night against the Mandeville Skippers, who were 28-0 victors in their jamboree. We'll see you next week for the season opener!

Patriots don't dissappoint in first scrimmage...
The John Curtis Christian football team took to the field for their first action of the 2006, sort of, in a scrimmage against the John Ehret Patriots. The Patriots, Curtis that is, didn't dissappoint their fans when in the first series of ten plays, the Patriots scored three times. The defense got things started keeping the Ehret team out of the endzone and only giving up one signifigant play on a long pass. Ehret did score on their second set of ten plays one time following another long pass. However, the Curtis offense answered that with a touchdown of their own on the next drive. Curtis' second team drove the ball down the field, but was stopped twice inside the twenty-five yardline on fourth down each time. Curtis' second team defense stifled the Ehret second team defense. The third time the Curtis offense took to the field, the Patriots worked on their spread package and did not have much success against the Ehret defense. Ehret's offense didn't do anything against the Curtis defense in their third set of plays either. After the second team's went again, both teams did a some goalling situations. Ehret's first set of downs, with the ball placed at the one, ended with a touchdown pass. But, the Patriot defense put up a fight. A facemask penalty on third down gave Ehret's offense a first down on the two. Finally Ehret scored on a four yard TD pass on fourth down. On Ehret's second possession, the Patriots stuffed a quarterback sneak on fourth and a foot. Curtis' first two plays resulted in a touchdown run. Following an incomplete pass, Curtis scored another TD run on second down. Curtis then ran two more plays then ended the scrimmage. The Patriots next take to the field against the Fountainbleau Bulldogs in the Slidell jamboree.
