REGISTRATION BEGINS August 25 for ALL 2008/2009 IBA Youth Basketball Programs

Program Changes Include NEW 4th Grade Traveling Program, Little Dribblers (1st and 2nd Grade) Moving to Fall, and More Time and Opportunities to Register

The IBA offers three Basketball programs for both boys and girls, Little Dribblers (1st and 2nd Grade), In-House (3rd - 8th Grade) and Traveling (4th - 8th Grade). All are instructional programs and are designed to help players learn and develop basketball skills and sportsmanship, and offer a fun sense of belonging.

The Little Dribblers program moves to Fall this year with six fun Saturday morning sessions from September 20 – October 25 designed to introduce players to basketball. The In-House program runs from November – February and is less competitive and intense than the Traveling program. The Traveling program offers a higher level of competition, includes a tryout process, runs from late October – March, and for the first time this year, will include 4th Grade teams.

Postcard reminders will be arriving in mailboxes the week of 8/18, and notices will be published in both local newspapers. In addition, flyers will go home with many students the first week of school, and posters will be on site at all area learning facilities.

INTERESTED IN COACHING A TRAVELING TEAM? Here's some information on how it works

The Irondale Basketball Association is dependent on volunteer coaches to be successful! Traveling coaching applications are reviewed every year and selection of coaches takes place by board approval, following the conclusion of tryouts and the formation of teams. Selection of coaches is based solely on experience, qualifications, and prior year feedback if applicable. Parents/family members and non-family members will all receive equal consideration.

It all starts by filling out our Traveling Coach Application. Click here for a copy. Send it in BY SEPTEMBER 19, 2008 to receive consideration for the 2008/2009 season! Our PO Box is on the form. And thanks for applying--we appreciate your support!
