About our range
HMB has a 40 acre tract of land in the Patapsco Valley State Park near Sykesville, Maryland. Naturally rolling hills and ravines scattered with hardwoods, brush and grassy fields allow us to present every archer with a realistic hunting situation. Fifty 3D target scenarios insure our course is always fresh and set differently for each shoot.

Successful Weekend:
The Heart of Maryland Bowhunters (HMB) had a very successful weekend (26 & 27 July 2008) at our Archery Range due to the Maryland Bowhunters Society (MBS) Shoot / Meeting (26 July) and the HMB Trophy Shoot (27 July).

•       MBS:

Thanks to the generosity of MBS Members and their President, Larry Schwartz, we received a $355 donation for the use of our facilities at HMB. We also had a great time shooting at 3D Targets. Thanks to Wayne Boggs and Nick Gray for setting up the 3D targets.

•       HMB Trophy Shoot:

HMB held a Trophy Shoot with thirty 3D Targets on 27 July. Trophies were awarded to 14 happy archers. The registration fees were collected from approximately 33 archers. Archers under 15 years of age shot for free with the top scorers taking trophies. Only one person shot over 300 (a member of the Bowhunter Class). Many good comments were received about the shoot and thanks go to Bob DeBolt and Wayne Boggs for setting up a challenging 3D course and Marilyn DeBolt for her expert handling of the hamburger and hot dog grill.

The winners of the 2008 HMB Trophy Shoot are:
?       Bowhunter Class:
1st Place - Chickle Seal

1st Place - Jason Hough

Welcome Aboard !!!

•       Youth Program:

The eight week Youth Archery Program ended in July due to the rain date extensions. The beginner archers enjoyed their target shooting and archery instructions. Several students and their parents purchased archery equipment so that they could continue archery into the remainder of the year. Thanks to these HMB instructors for donating their time and talents: Bob DeBolt, Marilyn DeBolt, Ann Severance, Nick Gray and John Kersheskey.

•       Broadhead Target:

Thanks to Kevin Sullivan for designing and installing our Broadhead Target at the 30 yard position. We will all be able to use if for broadhead tuning.
