MEET THE 2007-2008 TEAM

East Norriton Heartbreakers - Refuse to Lose!

shattered heart

Team History

The Heartbreakers  was started in 1999 by Coach Harry DiBussolo. The  team is entering its ninth season and fifth as an 18u team. The 2007 season was a success by all standards and built on a past history of excellence. The team had strong showings in every tournament, winning four, including the  USSSA Mid Atlantic Regional Championship. In addition, the HBs finished second at the ASA State Championship, which represents the fourth year in a row that the team finished in the top three.  The team ended the season by going 7-2 at the ASA Nationals, good enough to finish above every other team from the Northeast and taking a 7th place.  This represented the fourth year in row that the team had a top 10 finish at a National Tournament.

The Heartbreakers went 52-9-2 for the season. Along the way, the team played against a number of exceptionally good teams, including several gold teams as well as a number of teams from California and Texas. The 2008 season will look to improve on the past success of the team.   The 2008 squad has a number of new players, and is considerably younger than teams have been in the past.  However, it still looks forward to being one of the best teams around and  figures to be one of the favorites in every tournament in the upcoming season.

The team orginally was built with exception players from the Norristown area.  As the team's success and reputation it grew, it started from players from a larger georgraphic area and has had players from New Jersey and Delaware, in addition to adding players from the Lehigh and Susquehanna Valleys to compliment the players from the Delaware Valley. The team was built around the concept that pitching and defense wins games, tournaments and championships and that hard work and sacrifice is necessary to reach a team's potential. As such, each girl selected for the team over the years has been exceptional in the fundamental principles of defensive play and many have excelled at more than one position. Each girl has made the commitment to work hard to reach the the team's goals. This year’s team is no different. Since that time the team has exhibit consistent excellence in local, state and national tournaments. Below is a brief example of their success.

2000 NSA State Champions, ASA States 2nd, NSA Nationals, ASA Nationals

2001 ASA Regionals 2nd, NSA Nationals, PONY Nationals

The Heartbreakers look to continue this rich tradition in 2008 and expect this season to the best yet.
