Lacrosse has a history that spans centuries and is the oldest sport native to the North American continent. Rooted in Native American religion, lacrosse was often played to resolve conflicts, heal the sick, build strength and virility, and give thanks to the Creator. Many Native Americans still refer to lacrosse as "The Creator's Game." The first women's lacrosse game was played in 1890 at the St. Leonard's School in Scotland. The first women's team in the United States was established at The Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore, Maryland. Friday, October 10 CHS tryouts will be held on October 23 and 24 from 3:30-5:30PM at the lacrosse practice field behind CHS.
