2008 Leagues
We will be sponsoring City/House leagues at the 13 year old level (including any 12 year olds that wish to play with this age group), the 14/15 combined age group, 16 year old City League and 17/18 City League levels for 2008.

The 13 year olds play on reduced size fields (52' pitching and 75' base paths), while the 14/15 year olds play on regulation sized fields (60' pitching and 90' base paths).

We will also sponsor travel baseball teams at each of the age groups: 13, 14 and 15 years old. The number of travel teams at each age group is determined by the number of players that wish to play as well as the talent pool from each group. We have had as many as three teams from one age group play traveling in the past.

All of our leagues have qualified, paid umpires at all games. Also in City League playoff games, two umpires are used where our games are played on our fields in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park.

BROOKLYN AREA BABE RUTH BASEBALL PROGRAM TO AWARD FIVE SCHOLARSHIPS TO NHCC STUDENTS
BROOKLYN PARK - Brooklyn Area Babe Ruth Baseball and Girls Softball Programs have created five new $800 scholarships for new and returning NHCC students who live in Brooklyn Park or Brooklyn Center and have been involved with the Brooklyn Area Babe Ruth Baseball Program or a Girls Softball Program. Students who are or will be graduating from Osseo, Brooklyn Center, Cooper, Park Center or Champlin High Schools are encouraged to apply.
Brooklyn Area Babe Ruth Baseball and Girls Softball Programs provide baseball and softball programs for the youth of the Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center communities. These programs provide youth an opportunity to learn and practice team building skills, while giving back to the community through fundraising efforts, scholarships and educational opportunities.
Brooklyn Park Babe Ruth Baseball and Brooklyn Center Babe Ruth Baseball have been in existence since the late 1950’s and have provided youth an opportunity for recreation and team building skills. Within the last five years, the Brooklyn Park Babe Ruth Program and Brooklyn Center Babe Ruth Program have merged to become the Brooklyn Area Babe Ruth Baseball Program.
Last year, three $750 scholarships were awarded through the North Hennepin Community College Foundation. Scholarship applications will be available January 31, 2007. For more information on this and other scholarships, check the NHCC website at www.nhcc.edu/foundation or contact the NHCC Foundation at 763-424-0916.

Ripkin Experience, Myrtle Beach, SC
My name is Chris O’Brien and I am an account representative working with Ripken Baseball. I would like to pass along some exciting information about our new tournament facility in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: The Ripken Experience. This world class baseball complex has been personally designed by Hall of Famer, Cal Ripken, Jr. and Bill Ripken, who is known as one of the country's foremost baseball instructors. Collectively, they spent more than 3 decades playing Major League Baseball and they've incorporated their extensive knowledge into the design of this great sports destination. Highlighted by professional fields, beautiful grounds, easy access to beaches, family entertainment packages, shopping, dining & more, The Ripken Experience gives players, coaches and their families a unique opportunity to enjoy tournament baseball while visiting a premier east coast vacation destination. While the complex offers spring, summer and fall programming packages, I would like to quickly highlight the summer tournament packages which are selling very quickly. These packages include: -Six game minimums, all tournament fees, full access to complex amenities – no hidden fees
  • Lodging at the fully furnished Myrtlewood Villas luxury condominiums which are situated in a golf course setting with outdoor swimming pools and BBQ grilling options
  • All Access Passes for each player & coach – unlimited access to mini golf, water parks, par 3 courses, NASCAR Speed Park go-carts & more: All Access Entertainment Pass for the players. We teamed up with 5 entertainment attractions which the boys will have unlimited access to all week. This entertainment package is not offered to anyone else in Myrtle Beach and includes Myrtle Waves Water Park, NASCAR Speed Park, and 7 Miniature Golf Courses including Jungle Safari Mini Golf, 2 Par 3 Golf Courses including Midway Par 3 at South Beach Resort & Cane Patch Par 3 & Driving Range.
  • Special gifts for each player & coach and much more!
The Ripken Experience – Myrtle Beach features 5 youth fields and 2 regulation sized diamonds all constructed with FieldTurf – a synthetic playing surface used to maintain consistent play, eliminate rain outs, and reduce the risk of injuries. All fields are modeled and designed after legendary ballparks such as Polo Grounds, Navin Field and Griffith Field. The complex has numerous batting cages, bullpens, training circles and bunting infields which teams can use to train or warm-up prior to games. Take a moment to visit our website at www.ripkentournaments.com to learn more about the packages and this wonderful, family-oriented baseball experience that's been created by one of the greatest names in the history of professional baseball. We recently sold out our 4th Myrtle Beach Tournament due to high demand in the 13u & 14u divisions. We are entering the peak of our booking season for 2008 Ripken Experience tournaments, and much of the 11u & 13u availability is almost gone. If you would like to register your team please call me directly at 410-823-0808 Ext. 160 so we can determine which one is the best fit for your schedule. I also attached a registration form if you would like to complete it and fax it back to 1-410-823-0850. If you can not reach me via phone, then you may email me or register online by clicking the following link: http://www.ripkentournaments.com/myrtlebeachcalendar.cfm When you have a free moment, I would like to send you some more detailed information to hand out to other coaches and parents in your organization. I would love to get your contact info so I may mail a hard copy packet with additional info and pictures of our uniquely designed complex. As I mentioned, spots are filling fast so don't miss out on this great baseball experience. Please give me a call or send me an email for more information so I may provide you with a great experience for you and your team. Have a great day!
