About the Active Pulse Runners:
Active Pulse is a youth running club serving South Sonoma County, with practices held in Petaluma, CA. We welcome boys and girls of all ability levels; ages 8 - 17.
Our club provides both competitive and non-competitive opportunities for kids to succeed. The competitive program is certified by the Pacific Association of USATF (USA Track & Field).
The Cross Country season begins in September and continues through early December. The Track & Field season begins in March and continues through late July. Off-season (winter) training is also available for interested members.
We are 100% nonprofit and endorsed by the RRCA. Our consistent aim is to the keep the cost-of-entry as low as possible for all members, without making sacrifices to the quality of our programs.
Training and Development:
All of our club practices and activities are designed to foster self-confidence, athletic improvement, and life-long fitness. These attributes will help to build a strong foundation for success when transitioning from elementary to jr high, jr. high to high school, or high school to collegiate athletics.
All work and no play?? No way! Fun & games are common-grounds after a good workout. Plus, all of our athletes are shooting for Active Pulse Points; awarded for outstanding displays of effort and good sportsmanship. There are some awesome rewards and team parties up for grabs each season!
Practices take place 3 days/wk on regional and local trails during Cross Country and 4 days/wk @ Petaluma High School for Track & Field. Off-season training may also be offered periodically.
Meets and Competition:
USATF League Meets
(Open only to Active Pulse athletes registered as "competitive")
For kids who enjoy the thrill of competing against other youth clubs across the state, we regularly attend USATF youth meets on the weekends. There is a series of competitions for both Cross Country and Track & Field.
All APR club members who are registered as "competitive" are welcome to participate in these meets. Transportation is available to all members. Carpooling is encouraged and appreciated!
Whether the goal is just to finish a race, to set a new PR (personal record), or qualify for the National Jr. Olympics... these meets are sure to be memorable.
NB Youth Running Club Network: Local All-Comers Meets
(Open to all Active Pulse members)
Interested in competition, but want to see where you stand before jumping in?
All registered athletes (competitive or non-competitive) will have the opportunity to participate in a series of All-Comers meets with other clubs in the NB Youth Running Club Network. These informal meets will take the place of 3 to 4 regularly scheduled weekday practices. Kids of all ages and abilities will be joining in on the fun!
Student Athletes:
Just because you are already competing for a school Track & Field team, doesn't mean you have to miss out on the benefits of Active Pulse membership!
We can work out a flexible schedule and in some cases offer registration discounts for student athletes. So consider the following:
-
You are still able (and encouraged) to be an active member of your school team.
-
Our Track season will last about 2 months longer than your school season.
-
You will have access to additional training, as desired. (5-7 pm, 4 days/wk)
-
You can join us in a series of challenging USATF youth meets. (weekends)
-
You can earn community service hours by coaching our younger athletes.
